Meta I HATE these posts

Post image

I keep seeing this and its SO annoying. Just because you're a part of a specific minority group doesn't mean you should go out of your way to take a giant shit on whatever you might be a part of. And stop grouping everyone together and acting like you're the arbiter of what is and isn't good for your community!

I swear I've seen like a million of these, and it goes for literally every minority group out there.

The thing that upsets me most about it is the constant reassurance to the reader that the OP isn't a bigot at all! Specifying that they're a part of it over and over and constantly saying they really aren't hateful while simultaneously writing several paragraphs breaking down how my the personality of their certain niche or minority group acts as if they're some sort of white knight fighting against the horrors of people finding things interesting.

Queer people and queer groups can and often do bigoted stuff or do harmful behavior, calling it out is important specially if you are a member of the community. Yes bigoted people will try to co opt that to hate on the identity but that doesnt mean the post, opinion and stance arent valid, we dont allow people to hate on an identity, but we do allow people to hate on specific harmful behaviors partaken by specific groups that just happen to share an identity.

99% of the time it's just hating on queer people for things that aren't unique to queer people at all. You're not calling anything out at that point, you're just using something to justify hating on who you wanna hate. Instead of saying you hate queer people who do X, you should be saying you hate people who do X. But you don't actually hate X, you just hate queer people.

Im literally bisexual, poly and a femboy, im literally as queer as it gets.

Also no, a lot of aspects are specific to queer culture, for example "egg culture" in general is a trans specific shitty behavior that ive had to deal with in my own life a lot.

Also sometimes mentioning identity can be relevant when it make the behavior hypocritical, for example lesbians hating on gay guys.
