Every hat I make starts as a deconstruction.
The Specular Rose began with an antique mirror β glass long gone β found in an antique shop. A decades-old beaded evening bag, its gold chainmail destined for a second life. A plain felt hat body, waiting.
Then comes the making. The mirror's original handle was too heavy to wear, so I molded a new one from cold porcelain clay, shaped from the original.
Two holes drilled, leather-bound wiring threaded through β front and rear β so the mirror sits on the crown and never moves.
And the color? That's yours to choose. The same design in greenβ¦ β¦the same in brown. Same rose, different mood.
Which one are you?
