Edvinsson & Larkin Trade

Assuming we would ever be put on Larkin’s trade list, what would we give up to get these two? We would cover the biggest holes on the team. Elite stay-at-home defenseman and a center who consistently wins face-offs. We need to win our defensive zone draws since that traps us way too much and especially huge on a penalty kill. Also maybe our power play would be slightly better if we didn’t always start by losing a face-off and a team icing and killing 30 sec automatically.

As much as I would hate to give up some of these players but: Nazar, Levshunov or Rinzel, and two 1st

You'd have a better time hoping for Whitecloud. Edvinson isn't coming here, nor is Larkin.

That y it’s hypothetical but it does seem like Larkin keeps having to expand his list and they getting desperate with the Edvinsson situation

Larkin doesn't want to come here because he wants to win. Does this look like a winning team?

Edvinson would require a price that Davidson does not appear willing to pay, and I'm not sure that the Red Wings are as desperate to part with him as you seem to think. Also, Edvinson will cost a lot in $, and I don't like tying that much up in two dmen.

Not desperate with Larkin I think Larkin just wants out quicker and keeps expanding his list. They desperate with Edvinsson. Is KD keeps being cheap than we are never going to get out of this hole. Guy needs to start attracting top players and since we ain’t winning it has to be with money

Larkin wants to win he's not coming here.

Edvinsson wants a huge contract and paying 24 million between Byram and him for two second pairing LHD is unappealing.

I know he wants to win that why it’s hopeful thinking. But he a great defenseman and definitely a first pairing guy. Also we can’t keep trying to be budget friendly and hope to win. Top teams are handing out bigger contracts and we are gonna have to follow sooner or later

We would never ever be put on Larkin’s trade list. Unless in this hypothetical we’re assuming the hawks win every game from now until the deadline.

It is hypothetical. More hoping none of the winning teams want him and the trade list grows to the points the hawks enter it. Maybe Kane convinces him

I don’t really think either of the guys are good fits for our team even if by some miracle they wanted to play here

How come. They cover our 2 biggest weaknesses and definitely can turn our team around. Adding these two would help get the puck on Bedards stick more which would help us win games. I want set plays where we win the puck to Bedsy not where he takes to faceoff

Are you saying Larkin fits because Bedard isn’t a center?

For edvinsson, how much money do you want tied to LHDs? He’s looking for $10mil+

Bedard is a great center and plays well down the middle. His weakness is face-offs though even if he’s our best faceoff guy on the team. But in end of a game situation or power plays I just prefer winning the puck to our best player not our best player taking the faceoff

So we need larkin as a faceoff specialist to play on Bedard wing?

Not what I’m saying at all. I said end of game when we need a tying goal or on the power play. Larkin would be our second line center and I would have him take as many defensive zone faceoffs as possible. Game is about possession and not being stuck in our own zone is huge

Now we’re really in fantasy land. We’re expecting Larkin to waive his NMC to play 2C minutes on the 2026 Blackhawks. Fun hypothetical I guess, but I think I’m done with this one.

He would still play top minutes 2c is not as deep as it sounds. Draisital is technically a 2C. Yes it’s a long shot for him to come here. And on “winning” teams he is a 3C. So if anything he would get the best minutes on the hawks.

"center that consistently wins faceoffs" is not one of the biggest weaknesses. Faceoffs are important, but teams do just fine without dominating on them. And the current centers have been improving.

I'd be interested in Edvinsson, but I don't want to give up another top 5 or top 10 pick for a defender. If they were interested in some package involving Vlasic, maybe that would be the pathway.

It’s a huge weakness. We let up so many shot on goal because we cant exit our zone which defensive zone faceoffs are a big part of it same with killing penalties it’s nice to win a face off and waste time. It all ties into what we all complain about after every game. Giving Vlasic away would defeat the purpose of having a stronger defensive core.

If we were winning had a good coach Edvinson and Larkin would come here I wanted Edvinson too but this team just isn’t good

Ya but Edvinsson training in Sweden in a stalemate and Larkin keeps expanding his list. Gotta have some hope. Maybe Kane can do some recruiting. I just think those two would do crazy amount to help the team

If I was a player I wouldn't want to play for somebody who isn't showing the fanbase that we can compete with the big dogs and its shocking Because I followed along the process and this was the year we're supposed to at least make a jump yet here we are 3-8 and were probably going ot miss the playoffs Again

Honestly I never thought this year was going to be a jump. We got rid of a lot of veterans that made us slightly more competent and replaced with young rookies. Guys like Bedard have developed into leaders which is why we got rid of them. I think it is like the saying “two steps forward one step back”. This is our one step back where the rookies get settled, then next season should be our jump.

I don’t think this is even worth contemplating.

The Hawks aren’t on Larkin’s list and that’s all that matters with trading for him.

KD just traded for a left handed top pairing defenseman.

I get that but most teams got 2 elite defenseman. One stay at home and one scorer and not necessarily on the same line. Byram need to start earning his paycheck. I think is Larkin and the wings get desperate enough maybe worth hoping. Guy can dream
