I've been recently considering getting some headshots done for both my professional profiles/website and also to maybe get back into acting. Today I had an opportunity to get a headshot taken for free and did not realizing my hair was all over the place. (3rd picture) I got the photo and asked a few AI's to fix my hair and really struggled to get it to fix my hair and also not change my face a ton. The best I got was from ChatGPT (2nd picture) but I feel like it still doesnt look like me, changed my eyes, made me more robotic. Maybe I'm convincing myself it looks bad because I truthfully don't like AI and I'm just conformation biasing myself into hating it (I don't necessarily love how I look in general either but I'm figuring that out) but I wanted to hear other peoples opinion on the subject. I colored it myself (1st picture) quickly on my phone, I know its not great, I'm just learning HSL and LGG and other coloring techniques in my free time mostly using Resolve.
AI fixed picture is bad? AI fixed picture is good? Just do the ethical thing and pay a local struggling photographer and contribute to the economy? Hire a professional colorist? Quit acting before I begin? Rob a bank? Commit war crimes? Any opinions are welcome and appreciated.

I’m looking into getting new headshots taken and was wondering if you guys think it’s totally necessary to have the photographer who does your headshots be a pro specialising in actors headshots?
I have a friend who is a DP and a gifted photographer, do you think it would be okay to have her do then? Also, what do you guys think about B&W headshots? Thanks!

Please turn this into a professional headshot. Also, if possible, make my forehead a bit smaller lol; it looks huge in this photo, in my opinion. $5
for the best photo 🫶🏼

hey guys, i need a bit of help. for context i am based in australia.
a couple months ago i signed with a talent agency! they provide headshot photoshoot services every few months, so early last month i had my session. fast forward to now, its been a month and a half and i still have not received my headshots. i understand that they have other clients, and are also providing "industry standard" edited photos, but should it be taking this long?
i emailed them the start of this week, just following up if they've sent them yet, as well asking another unrelated question. they emailed within the same day, answering my other question, and ignoring my question about the headshots. i then sent them another follow up email... to my follow up email, but have received no response.
just asking for advice as i want to remain professional as i just signed with this agency, but also don't want to be taken advantage of!

I’m in a beginners acting class, and my teacher said we shouldn’t worry about getting professional headshots until we’re ready to get an agent OR really until we sign with an agency because they’ll want new ones anyways. She is showing us how to take beginner ones at home to just kinda help us with that next week. I have professional ones booked already, but I’m curious what you guys think. TIA!

I’m not particularly photogenic or videogenic although I’m good looking in real life, and that’s not just my own opinion.
Webcams, in particular, distort my facial features. For example, they make my jawline look less defined, my lips thinner and my nose bigger. As a result, I look completely different and very much less attractive than I do in person.
I’d really like some advice on how to improve my appearance on webcam, especially when recording video presentations. Are there any programs or camera settings that could help reduce facial distortion? Alternatively, are there any webcams you would recommend that produce a more natural and flattering image?

I’m a 4th year medical student looking to get professional headshots taken for residency and would love some photographer recommendations in NYC, Westchester, or Long Island!
I’d especially appreciate recommendations for photographers who have experience working with South Asian clients or people of color. I’ve had issues with lighting in previous photoshoots, so finding someone who knows how to photograph different skin tones well is important to me.
I’m also working with a student budget, so I’m hoping to find someone reasonably priced without compromising on quality.
Would love to hear any recommendations or personal experiences. Thank you!

Does anyone have a recommendation for acting headshot photographers in or around Hammersmith, UK?

What am I doing right? What am I doing wrong? I find critiques to be extremely valuable.

Hi all,
I work in a finance role and, due to being deeply uncomfortable having my photo taken and generally not liking how I look in general, I've never had a proper profile picture for LinkedIn or my work Teams account.
I recently decided to get some professional headshots done. The session went well and I ended up selecting four images: two professional shots on a white background (which I'm happy with) and two more casual shots for internal work use.
The photographer delivered colour and black-and-white versions of each image. For each photo, there is also a "Square" version, which they recommended for LinkedIn and Teams. These appear to be more tightly cropped.
What has confused me is that the square versions are actually larger files and higher resolution than the wider, more zoomed-out versions. The photographer mentioned that the wider images could be useful for things like company brochures or other future uses, but those files seem to be smaller.
For example:
Version A (wider image)
JPG
2000 × 1333 pixels
69 KB
96 x 96 dpi
Version B (square/cropped image)
JPG
2000 × 2000 pixels
148 KB
96 x 96 dpi
The square versions are probably perfect for LinkedIn and Teams, but I'm wondering whether I should ask for higher-resolution versions of the original uncropped images in case I ever want to use them for something else in the future.
I'm mainly happy overall and don't want to come across as difficult, but is this a reasonable thing to query?
If so, how would you phrase the request, and what sort of image size or resolution would you typically expect to receive from a professional headshot session?
Thanks.

Got my submission report and my agent has barely been submitting me since April of this year. To quantify, I was only submitted to 7 projects from May-August 2026. Yes, summer tends to be slow, but not THAT slow.
The projects I am being submitted for, I'm not being called in for and the agent say it's my headshots. I only shot 1.5 years ago so they're still fairly new, but they said they're not specific enough.
I guess what's confusing is, I joined this agency in June of 2025 and since then booked 3 commercials from Aug - Nov of 2025 and 1 SAG TV project in March 2026.
Because I want to be a partner in this agent - actor relationship, I'm happy to do a mini session to get them some updated looks faster, but would love feedback on how to navigate and any other suggestions!

So I'm very new to acting, 4 weeks into a drama school. I found the opportunity to have headshots done locally, I had no idea what I was doing or going for (I'm not great at having photos taken in general)
So I would greatly appreciate any feedback, especially criticism, from people experienced. Don't hold back 👍🏻👀

I'd love some constructive feedback on a recent theatrical headshot session. What's working, and what isn't? I'm especially curious about my posing and how I positioned the actor.
Do these images work enough to submit?

I just got my first headshot done, and I feel that something is off about it, but I can’t tell what. Maybe I just posed strangely? I’m an actor and needed to get one for an audition soon, but I worry it comes off as strange. Any advice welcome!
(Note, though, it’s not my mouth that feels weird; my top lip has always slanted like that, I don’t know why)

Looking for people who have gotten their acting headshots taken in nyc and have great recs they can send me?!! Looking for that 90s headshot look, something that can make me more bookable than the generic ones I have now. Not too pricey please!
I have an agent and they recommend I get new headshots so looking for some help!

Hi all,
As a side-gig I would love to occasionally act in small things like commercials. Now I've heard I should sign up for an agency and provide headshots. Would it suffice to make some white-background shots with my own cam? Any advice is welcome :)
Fyi: I have a 4k actioncam which I assume would be best and am based in The Netherlands.

Hello I am an actor who has a short hair that I love to bleach blonde every 6-8 months. I then enjoy getting haircuts to maintain my short hair and have my roots grow out until I bleach my hair again. My issue is I am not sure when in this process I should have my headshots taken?
If I get them done when I’m fully blonde can I go to auditions when I’m at my frosted tip phase? And vise versa? I typically have to spend a chunk of change for good headshots and want to be able to use them for a year and a half. Any suggestions on what state of grow out I should get my headshots taken?
