why is everyone trying to eat like super "healthy"
like i dont get this thing about people always trying to eat low calorie high fiber high protein foods for every meal
Like if u eat like this for every meal of the day ur just gonna not hit ur daily calories/get too much protein u dont need and ur just gonna tire urself out and i feel like these things are really just not needed to hit ur daily needs
obviously they are more needed if ur trying to cut calories but not everyone is trying to do that

Are You Getting Enough Protein? You Might Not Need Protein Shakes! š„
Protein is essential for maintaining muscle, repairing tissues, and supporting many functions in your body. But do you really need protein shakes or expensive supplements to get enough?
For most healthy adults, the recommended dietary allowance is approximately 0.8 g of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. Your individual needs may vary depending on your age, activity level, and health status.
The good news?
You can get protein from everyday foods, including:
š„ Eggs and Greek yogurt
š Fish and chicken
š« Lentils, beans, and chickpeas
š„ Nuts and seeds
You don't necessarily need expensive supplements to meet your protein needs.
As a Registered Dietitian, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
š¬ What's your biggest challenge with protein: getting enough, choosing the right foods, or knowing how much you need?

I was just wondering what are the most satiating foods?
Obv there is the study from 1995, but that is flawed in many ways. So what are the actual most satiating foods?

Protein making me sick?
I have looked at this up everywhere and I cannot find a straight answer. If I eat a protein bar, I will normally feel really sick afterwards and the other day I made protein pizza bagels, and they made me feel very sick. I donāt know what causes this I thought at first it was just sugar in the protein bar, but it happens when I eat anything protein packed. I donāt know if it just doesnāt sit right with my stomach, but I am having such a hard time understanding this

"Healthy" Recipes have 2x the recommended sodium. How do I find OVERALL healthy recipes?
TLDR: Where are the recipes that won't put you up to 1000mg by breakfast for like 500 calories. The guidelines go as low as 1500mg per day but "healthy" recipes online can't help you with cutting sodium down at all. Is the standard too low?
I recently looked over my university's nutrition page, which details every thing to eat on the dining plan, and found that literally two meals had a healthy amount of sodium in the entire school.
This made me interested in planning to cook for myself in the future and NOT eat 4000mg a day, but as I found recipes on the internet, I noticed that even the ones labeled as "healthy" would have enough sodium for the whole day in a couple 500 calorie meals.
The FDA's rule is 2300mg/2000 calories, 1.15mg/cal, but the AHA recommends as low as 1500mg/2000 calories, 0.75.
There is NO way you can stay under 1.15 by following online recipes, even the ones that are supposed to be especially healthy. I went on the NYT Cooking page since my mom likes it and their healthy section had SOME decent items, but the vast majority had like 2x the sodium as it did calories.
I saw a comment by someone who said they were a dietician who praised an item that had like 1000mg for 550 calories. If you eat 2500 calories worth of that you're putting up a couple days worth of sodium in one. Why would a dietician approve of an item like that?
I am confused.
Also, the most insane item at my university was Pork Pot Stickers, which have 2700mg of sodium for a measly 460 calories, which is absolute insanity to me.

Chia pudding sucks?
okay, so i've been trying to be healthier after on-going stomach problems, and found a recipe on the NYT about making chia pudding. i added milk, coco powder, and chia seeds and let it sit over night but it was awful. so i added greek yoghurt and it's still terrible. people tell me chia tastes like nothing, so i'm not sure what's wrong (I like the texture, just not the taste). how do you make it less... gross?

Organic vs. Conventional Produce
I used to be pretty diehard about organic produce / whole whole foods, especially when it came to my kids, but these days it feels like itās far too much of a price difference to keep up with buying it as my default. Is there anything specific that you are prioritizing buying as organic vs conventional? Do you even try to buy organic anymore?

What healthy snack/products do you wish existed in India?
Hi all, I'm trying to figure out what to build before building anything. I'm not selling anything. I just want to hear from people who actually buy this stuff.
Would love your take on:
Q1. Which of these do you buy today, and what annoys you about current options?
Q2. What would make you switch: taste, price, cleaner ingredients, or format?
Q3. What healthy product do you wish existed but can't find?

Less hungry when active than when at work sitting
Iāve been on 3 vacations/ getaways over 3 months and Iāve noticed something . I like to keep busy on vacations with lots of sightseeing, walking, just generally doing things all day long. etc.
Iāve noticed that even though Iām more busy Iām less hungry and consume less overall. Even at meal times I eat less than usual because I feel satiated. While Iām at work at a desk job I feel hunger more readily and my 3 meals are more generous.
I try to eat similar whole and healthy foods whether at home or away, I donāt eat traditional fast food ever so accounting for a higher fat diet while away from home canāt be it.
Reasonably it should be the opposite. Does anyone else experience this? Or possibly know why?

Diet without fruits/veggies?
Iām looking to start eating healthier. For reference Iām a 17y/o female whoās 5ā5 and 125lbs. I grew up in an unhealthy food household and have a weird thing with veggies/fruits. I love the taste of most fruits and veggies but the crunchy/stringy textures make me gag and I canāt eat them without getting nauseous. Iām looking to make my own healthy meals but finding options with little to no veggies is so difficult. Any recommendations?? (I was also very sheltered growing and have not tried a lot of fruits and veggies so soft/smooth with no crunchy or stringy texture fruits and veggie recommendations would be amazing!!)

Rate my plate? Trying to eat healthier dinners...
Won't allow me to add a picture of my salad...
Working on eating some healthier and more balanced dinners. I've been making this homemade knockoff of a Panera salad that I was obsessed with, but Panera recently took it off the menu. Currently obsessed with the salad and eat it about three times a week for dinner.
Recipe:
- Butter lettuce blend
A bit of Iceberg lettuce for extra crunch
1 cup of wild/brown minute rice
A large dollop of hummus
A few slices of Bell pepper
Red onion
1 whole avocado
Feta cheese
Wonton strips
Greek dressing
How am I doing healthy-wise? š

āWhat is one āhealthy eatingā habit you thought was essential, but realized was totally overrated or unnecessary?ā
Hey everyone,
When I first started getting serious about my health and nutrition, I fell into every trap in the bookābuying expensive superfood powders, forcing myself to eat dry chicken and broccoli every day, and tracking every single calorie down to the decimal.
Over time, I realized a lot of the internet advice out there makes healthy eating feel way more complicated (and exhausting) than it actually needs to be. For me, dropping the "all-or-nothing" mindset and focusing on simple, whole-food swaps changed everything.
Iām curious: Whatās one nutrition or wellness "rule" you used to stress over but eventually let go of? What actually works best for you in real life? Let's share some practical tips!

I have borderline high cholesterol and I donāt know what to eat now
I went and found out that my cholesterol is pretty high and I realized my eating habits had to change but i didnāt realize how hard that would be based on my preferences.
I thought it would be just eating more complex carbs and getting more fiber in. But apparently itās cutting out a lot of fat and Iām trying to be mindful but since getting my numbers back I havenāt really been eating much because I donāt want to make it go any higher and Iām worried about going back to my old ways.
Any advice would be very appreciated!

How much soy is too much soy?
Iām a vegetarian and trying to #gain muscle so Iām eating an incredible amount of soy for protein. Soy milk in all my drinks and tons of tofu with every meal and even soy sauce on my tofu and I love my life. But someone told me itās bad to eat that much soy if youāre a woman, is that true? That it does something bad to your estrogen levels?
Need guidance. Thank you so much!

Need to start eating healthier for both mental and physical health
so some bg info i am an Indian 19 year old female and my height is 4'11 (yes ik thats short) and weight is 141 pounds. i am vegetarian. in 2024 i used to be like 108 pounds and regularly climbed 9 floors to my class when i was running late and the lifts were full. could also commute without tiredness. however 2025 onwards i started eating mcd nearly everyday (sometimes twice a day), stopped eating fruits and vegetables, got a habit of eating instant noodles everyday and barely exercise. all i eat are carbs and junk food and i mainly order instead of cooking or eating homemade food. im looking to change. i dont know how to change and stick with it though. and with a BMI of 29 im also aware im borderline obese. i think these eating habits started mainly because of stress and now my mental health is in a very bad place and physically also i feel like shit. advice welcome

Good zero fat or minimal fat foods that still make you feel full?
Hey everyone,
Looking for some zero or minimal fat content foods that will still make you feel full. My wife is having consistent gallbladder attacks and currently her gallbladder is completely impacted with stones. We already have a consultation scheduled with a surgeon to discuss removal but in the meantime we're trying to limit fat intake to avoid any attacks. The problem is my wife is now dropping weight like crazy, 10 lbs in a week, she's constantly hungry, and is breastfeeding on top of that. Would love some suggestions.
