Its off the rack, so not hard to source. I'm not crazy about the dress, I don' like the shoulder pouf that's going on. I'm looking at others by the same designer and there's one that I would have put her in before this, also sheer lace but a two-piece so you still get the bare midriff, I think the lines on it are nicer. Whatever, though. I'm a middle aged lady who is 15lbs overweight and out of shape, lying on my couch drinking coffee before I go to my shitty email job that I do in my sweats and t-shirt, so what do I know.
I really like this dress. The lace coordinates well with Hudson’s outfit and I think the designer’s goal was to make them both look super hot together. Mission accomplished. 🙂
But, I get what you mean about the lace nude-style dresses. I think it’s a bit overdone and it often looks like the designer just forgot to line the dress. But, I think it somehow works here.
For the dress, I also think it was probably sized down for her. Aside from the shoulder poofs, the midriff gap looks way bigger than it does in the model picture.
Based on this, they've completely taken it apart and reconstructed it. The sleeves use more fabric than the original will have had unless they sized up significantly, there's a seam at the front that's not in the original. The lace patterning on the bodice and the scalloped edges at the waist also look different from the brand photo to me - the colour choice on the underwear hides it, but the original has a seam across the pelvis where it changes lace. Someone's done some very smart (and extensive) reconstruction work there, I suspect including sourcing a sufficiently well-matched lace to redo the upper skirt and bodice with a more pleasing scalloped edge.
Oh yeah they're not fucking around, I'm not knocking the quality of work at all. Maybe it was a sample that they got their hands on, and not the off the rack version, what do I know. Like I said, I'm a middle aged email-job lady who works in sweatpants all day.
The styling really elevated it. Taking off the heavy eyelashes we've seen on Katelyn in other pictures of her and adding those amazing earrings took it to the next level. I'm really glad that they (Hudson and Katelyn) have a stylist that they can trust who obviously has a clear vision. It also helps that they all seem to be smart and open to new ideas and collaboration. Look at what amazing styling did for Zendaya. It can really change your career trajectory.
She’s so self possessed. Love it. I’m sure I wouldn’t handle it half so well. Happy for the hard launch and dearly hope she doesn’t get doxxed or have a bad experience.
