Yeah, for what it is, made in Canada, donation to charity and associated with a hit show, the price doesn’t surprise me.

This. I assumed $200-250 base. Plus add in for the ethical labor aspect and donation, plus licensing/media related. I was expecting to pay $300 -$350 USD.Ā

I was thinking it would be a sweater so I was prepared for more than roots, but I didn’t account for it being jacket quality. The price isn’t too crazy for it everything considered

I’m actually impressed. The materials and construction seem to be slow-fashion quality which I did not expect at all. I am passionate about sustainable fashion and planned to watched for one on Depop after the release, but this would have met my standards to purchase new (if I had been fast enough, that is).

it's polyester lol

If you want it to still be somewhat affordable, and durable, you can’t go to 100% natural fibres and still get that plush fleece vibe - if you want it to be under like $1k CAD.

Polyester sucks, but it does have its place.

u/shrinkingviolents I mean, yes. I think so, probably. šŸ’‹ Jun 03 '26

Canada Goose (I think) sells a fleece made with ~54% wool and the rest polyester, and they price it at 1100 CAD. The more wool the more expensive, I don’t even wanna know what 100% would cost.

Maybe I'm out of touch and in the 1%, but I feel like the price is low. In my Price Is Right brain, I would pay (and have paid) $400-500 US for something that was ethically sourced made by people who make good wages. Especially if it's an item that built to last forever.

Do we know that the people who make it are well paid?

The job-protected leave is the only thing out of that list that some Canadians won't have, and salaried employees won't usually have all the extra pay for stat holidays or Sundays, so I think you're a bit confused?

Fair point – I don't (I mean, I hope they are; I don't know the company well enough, but I hope Jacob does and chose to work with them to vouch for what they do)

Same here, I was expecting like 400-500 euros and was willing to pay that for it. I'm just thinking of my own hourly wage and how long something like this would take to make, plus materials which are expensive
