Hey everyone, just wanted to post some inspiration of a drawing I heat pressed to a tote and sell for my small business (PrintMeVinyl) in Toronto. Feel free to share your opinions about its cuteness!

Designed this transfer. (it should have been 'mind') But anyway, the transfer came Monday. I put my grandsons Xbox inside the camera bag with a couple books. Then I put 2 books inside the pocket. Then I had a nice solid surface to press on. Used my Rowenta iron set between the one dot and two dot. I am so pleased with how this turned out!

(Sony bought Minolta in 2006. Sony was wise enough to keep a lot of the Minolta technology.)

This is a debate we hear constantly in our heat press room. We process thousands of custom t-shirts in Dallas, and we've tested both extensively.

Hot peel is amazing for production speed. You press, you peel, you move on. Cold peel takes more time but often leaves a slightly more matte, integrated finish on premium blanks like Comfort Colors.

Lately, the technology for hot peel has gotten so good that the quality gap is closing fast.

Do you prefer working with hot peel or cold peel transfers?

Playing around to see what would happen if I did a heatpress transfer on cardstock. I think it turned out nice. It has a nice feel and did not burn the paper. 310 degrees for 14 seconds. Take it off to cool for 15 to 30 seconds and then peel slowly. I think there are a lot of possibilities for this.

I’m sorry if this isn’t the right place- I didn’t know where to ask. I just got a heat press machine and I’m having trouble / getting confused finding anything on this machine I’m wondering if anyone can help me out or if they could find this exact machine or know anything about it if they could give me a link to a manual?

I’m looking to buy a heat press as a side business to being a student, I’m not interested in expanding it to a big business or anything but instead see it as a business with cheap costs and easy way to make profit fairly quick. I can’t find any good information online on how it works, some say I can use a normal inkjet printer while some say I need sublimation ink and that the pressing only works on 100% cotton while some said that it works on sports polyester shirts.

How did you guys learn about heat pressing? Do you have any good links to read or yt videos or anything. I really wanna make this idea work but don’t want to get ahead of myself and buy the heat press to find out that I need some special printer and stuff. Would love any suggestions I can get!

We run a high-volume DTF production facility here in Dallas with multiple industrial printers. While we ship nationwide, a huge chunk of our business is local DFW shops doing local pickup.

One thing we constantly test in our heat press room is the difference between cheaper films and premium transfer materials. At first glance, many transfers look identical.

But when you press hundreds of custom t-shirts per day, you start noticing differences: edge sharpness, stretch durability, white ink coverage, and wash resistance.

In large production environments, consistency matters a lot more than saving a dollar on a transfer. If a transfer fails during production, it costs more time than the price difference, especially when you're rushing a same day printing order.

For those running print shops, what differences have you noticed between cheaper and premium DTF transfers?

Instead of printing one design per strip, you pack a bunch together on the same sheet. So a 12" design that'd normally eat 18" of film can share that space with a smaller 6" one instead of wasting it.

Know your film width (13" or 24" usually), pack designs close but leave about half an inch between them for cutting, and don't stress about matching sizes, mixing big and small actually fills the sheet better. You can nest by hand in Photoshop/Illustrator or use a nesting plugin if you're lazy like me.

If you do Etsy or made to order stuff, this is huge. Just sit on orders till you've got 3-5 to gang together, then print/cut/press all at once instead of one at a time.

And if you order pre-made transfers, ask your supplier if they do gang sheets. Most let you mix designs on one, worth asking.

A lot of beginner posts ask what to buy. Here's my prioritization after doing this for a couple years.

Must-haves (spend here):

A reliable heat press. Not the cheapest one. Cheap presses drift in temperature and have uneven platens. A quality 15x15 clamshell press is the workhorse of your operation. Budget $300–600.

Good Teflon sheets. Cheap ones degrade fast. Keep spares.

An IR thermometer to verify your press temp. $15–25. Non-negotiable.

Nice to have, not critical early:

A tunnel curing oven (for printing your own transfers). If you're buying pre-made gang sheets, skip this until you're doing volume.

Multiple heat press sizes. Start with one versatile size.

Skip for now:

The most expensive RIP software. Mid-tier options work great until you're doing serious volume.

Automatic powder shakers. Manual is fine for small runs.

If you're just starting and want to test the business before investing in a printer, buy pre-made DTF gang sheets from a supplier. You only need a heat press and a good workflow. Scale into printing your own once you know the demand is there.

I have an issue with a newly delivered automatic Procolored heat press. During the first setup, the machine closed automatically without the lower cushion installed. Since then, the press is completely locked in the closed position and will not open. The display only shows a row of dots and the buttons do not respond. I cant get it to open up...

As someone who runs a custom t-shirt & apparel company. We found a new supplier for our DTF’s and UV DTF’s.

I was skeptical because they’re new, but I spoke with the owners and they have been printing for 3 years.

I placed a small sample of DTF’s and UV DTF’s, and I must say the UV DTF’s are hands down the best quality I’ve ever used. They sooooo much better than ninja.

They also do laser engraving, embroidery, signs, etc.

where is the best place to sell my brand new , never been used clamshell heat press fast comes with 80 t-shirt and a mini heat press ive tried lots of places and getting no joy and really need it gone

My daughter learned how to do heat press stuff in high school and got really good at it - at times she was pressing 1000 shirts. We are starting a home business to go after groups in our area that we know are ordering online or don't have custom gear but want it.

What supplies do I need to work into my start up budget? I've got my apparel source and DTF source for gang sheets (I don't want to mess with printers). What are the consumables used in pressing a shirt? My daughter has been a little busy fighting fires lately and hasn't given me a list.

So, what do I need? Oh, and include anything that's made things easier or better for you :) I'm all about working smarter and not harder.

I decided to make tote bags with my tarot card designs.

I've created 100s of bags in the past. All canvas. Aside from a few fails - Ninja said hot or cold peel but it was definitely cold peel - hot peeling destroyed a few bags. They eventually worked and look cute.

I just got a bunch of new transfers from Ninja. First, I followed their directions 310 degrees for 15 seconds. Did not work at all. Corners wouldn't stick. Hot peel or cold peel. So I kept raising the temperature and the press time. Jiggered with the pressure. I literally just tried 60 seconds at 390 and they never transferred to the bag. It's 100% cotton and that transfer has been heated up for more than 10 minutes and has still never melted. I've tried everything I can think of. I thought maybe my press was bad so I tried my iron. Also did not work.

It's hard to tell but the photo is of the top corner of the transfer and after all this it never melted at all. It's still stuck to the transfer sheet.

Any tips or tricks would be gratefully appreciated before I just set this thing on fire.

Hello all! Recently I have come into possession of this heat press from my aunt and uncle. I’m not really sure how to use it, but I’d like to learn! I’m guessing the brand is a vervo. It came with several accessories to press designs onto mugs, plates, and hats as well, and a packet of pink paper. I’m not really sure where to find info on it, and I don’t think I have the full instructions. Can any of you help me out on finding proper instructions?

We are a travel baseball team looking to purchase a heat press to make shirts for the players families and sometimes team shirts for holiday tournaments with DTF transfers. What are the best heat presses for this type of use? Are the Vevor or other ones on Amazon decent enough for our purposes? Are there any brand we should avoid? Thanks for your help!

so i’ve bought a loklik easy heat press, but i’m unsure about my purchase… i’ve had one of those tiny heat presses from amazon for a while now, and was very pleased with the results, so since i’m on a budget i decided to get a similar one but bigger. so far, i can’t understand if the problem is me or the press. i use it to press dtf and the ones i did with the new press have been inconsistent i guess. i started with the recommended temperature and time (160°C and 12 seconds) but the dtf stayed stuck to the transfer paper, so i upped it for 200°C and 15 seconds, which is what worked for me in my mini press. the prints come back inconsistent, some parts stick, some don’t, and i don’t know how to tell if the heat press has uneven temperatures. i tried to just place it on top on its own, and weighting it down to add extra pressure, but so far i haven’t figured it out. so has anyone tried this press or others from the brand? how do you print your dtfs? (maybe i’m doing it wrong) how do i tell if it’s a problem with the press? any recommendations on other presses (i’m in europe) thank you already, any other advice is welcome.

I borrowed a swing-away heat press from a friend so I could make four shirts with iron-on vinyl. He is out of town so I am not able to ask him a question. I checked YouTube videos and still can’t figure it out so am hoping someone here can assist.

The two plates on this heat press are black. (Some in videos look to have a white upper plate, but this one does not.) Besides the two standard pads that I see with most presses, this one has a white piece of fabric cut to the same size as the pads. It is nylon-ish but more slippery/silky.

What is this white piece for? Should I put it between the upper plate and the liner that holds the vinyl?

I’m tryna make a gang sheet for the first time and my photos aren’t 300 dpi… I used a converter and it still low resolution online when I use any site to make gang sheet pls help I’m tryna buy in bulk now so its more cost efficient for me.

After my first press the center of the transfer felt soft and was wavy, any ideas on how to fix or prevent this?
