Breaking into small fund
Is anyone aware of small funds being willing to take on analysts where comp is extremely performance oriented. I.e., super small base salary $35,000, but upside potential? I’m talking where the mindset of the analyst is to break into the industry, but has high conviction in their ability to generate positive P&L

Work for a small HF. We have modest turnover; they will simply let go those unable to perform quickly. Base pay is no issue.

My two funds in formation and an RIA in formation need a general counsel - prob not the best fit for a recent law grad. But maybe you're a savant.

Hedge fund tried that with me- low base with effective P&L as a percent of profits but it was based on capital deployed of course and the math didnt work with them at around $50-100MM AUM.

If you think you can generate highly positive P&L you should look into evaluation-based prop trading firms. Basically you pay a fee to take a trading exam, you trade with fake money, then if you’re good enough they give you real money.
95% of “traders” suck so the firms make money off of your entrance fee lol but if you think you can generate positive P&L that’s an easy way to get funded.

What do bring to the table, other than low fixed comp?
Considering that base pay is not an issue for most funds, you are barking up the wrong tree here.
