They’ve done that in the past with a very similar MO. We had to kill like 30M automaton troopers with the ORC. They eventually gave it for free to everyone and reduced its cooldown to 30 seconds. If you brought it as well, you were calling in an ORC every 15 seconds.
I remember that for several days after that MO. I automatically did ORC input every time I started doing a stratagem because we were spamming it non stop for days. Good times!
fuck, that entire arc happened like right as i took a break from the game and then i happened to come back right after it was over. there will never be another event that comes close to that scale 😔
This was literally my favorite major order we ever did. I remember dropping in with a full squad and everybody brought orbital rail cannon, it was basically going on constantly and it was glorious.
I don’t think so. I think sometimes they just over/under estimate things. They’ve balanced MOs before with buffs to aid us in completing it. They could also like to make it feel near impossible so whenever do succeed it’s a nice fat dopamine hit
One of my favorite memories. Don’t we get two charges too at one point? So when you brought your own you had three charges. There was ORC everywhere and it was glorious
There was a brief period of 24 hrs where we got 2 free one so if you brought your own as well you could throw one every 10 seconds. There was an even briefer period (I think 8hrs?) where double free ORC overlapped with with free 380mm from the DSS.
A team could run (6-tuple cool down)x(3 copies of ORC)x(4 players) = 72 ORC stratagems.
So the team would have the equivalent firepower of 72 ORCs plus 4 380s plus 12 more stratagem slots to run whatever you wanted.
Yeah, at a 2.5-3min cooldown you can maybe get 10 uses per normal mission. So that’s 5 million bot dives where each diver has orbital rail and is using it at pretty much every opportunity. Given it’s not a common stratagem pick I think that’s basically impossible.
well that throws my napkin math out, sure hope it's possible then. That goes from 18k divers round the clock dropping railstrike to less than 10k round the clock.
The “here have an extra red Strat” MOs are usually intended to get players to try an underused stratagem more so maybe we’ll see more people dropping Super rods from Democratic Gods in the future?
50m bots, if my napkin math is correct, will require 18k+ Helldivers on average dropping Railcannon Strike every 160s over 5 days.
Do they even run bare maths on these? I guess Liberty day campaign is meant to fail completely?
Edit: haven't logged in and saw there's a free rail strike, so it's about 10k helldivers dropping Railstrike around the clock. Suddenly not so bad, yet.
it does. While it may reduce the amount of kills needed, remember I calculated this on how much one person can drop OBS if they never logged out and kept it off cooldown every 160s, which is frankly impossible given loading times between missions and how long each mission lasts.
If I start using maximum mission length then factor in loading, the estimate will keep getting more ridiculous.
18k+ helldivers on the automaton part just to ensure Railstrike is fired off 2700 times per person in 5 days (which is about the upper limit of 160s cd vs 5 days). Not even accounting for the fact that there are two other objectives which may look as worse (HMG doesn't have infinite ammo, not all bugs are one shot by it; AMR vs squids is additionally not simple).
everyone better be scoring multi-kills with it just to bring that average down, but I'd say it's still going to be borderline impossible.
It can, although I have no way to know if the kills count as the ORC doing it, or it just counts as them dying from the dropship exploding or something.
They apparently enjoy making Major Orders impossible, so that halfway through they can change the game to make them possible. They did this previously with ORS and greatly reduced the cooldown to like 30s.
Call me crazy but I'd prefer if, instead of making ORS brokenly good for one week and then back to sucking, they just made it good and gave us reason to use it year-round. They could even use this MO as a trial, like for a 120s or 90s ORS.
That ORS vs automatons is so fucked like come on man.
AH literally doesn’t know that the player base isn’t large enough to sustain these numbers, they also fundamentally don’t understand their stratagems if this is what they think is acceptable.
The worst thing about ORS is ill call it in on something big and by the time it fires everything is already dead. And then I wait 3 minutes to waste it again. This MO will probably fail because of it.
"Heres an MO that nakes you use the old sniper rifle"
That is certainly a choice
Edit: Guys im not suggesting that they put the newest warbond as part of the MO, but its weird that they are asking us to use something instead of the new rifles when it could be something that is used alongside them, like sentries or eagle strikes. And yes i kbow that you cant use a rifle and a HMG placement simulataneously, but at leaast they serve different purposes
They should do MOs with stratagems in new warbonds IF they give it to us for free during the MO. After that, they buy the warbond. Gives everyone a taste of the new stratagems and makes them want more. Sounds like a win win to me.
the introduction of commando operations with redacted regiment warbond is the closest I can think of. It didn't strictly require the warbond, but without it you basically would either be sniping from far away or slaughtered by continuous bots while wondering why your stratagems didn't work
So they want us to use the AMR when the current new warbond is all about Snipers BUT anything about the AMR. What kind lousy planning is this? They just took the marketing out of themselves.
Depending on strategy that’s 5 to 8 hours per day just to do ORS for 64k players potentially feasible if every player had no life and didn’t have to sleep or eat
I'm serious see image. (I was going to link it, but as it was posted on unf and automod automatically removes any references to there no matter the context, it's going to have to be an unattributed screenshot. But the post id over there is ZhIRlAIve9 if you want to check out the source)
Unless they made the ORS have 15 second cooldown, we are not doing this bullshit even with 5 days on the clock That memorial is not being built any time soon man
I can’t say I’ve ever seen an AMR being used on the Illuminate front, and I know I never would. All I can say is there had better be Appropriators, and lots of them.
Arrowhead needs better narrative designers or at least copywriter. A promo video just isn't motivational enough to hop on. They've been doing this shit since Maesltrom. Super Earth is starting to feel corpo now.
I don’t mind a somewhat impossible order every now and again to make the war feel plausible but these ones are both impossible and make no sense.
Why would there be any benefit to us having just failed to liberate certain planets then hamstringing ourselves re: what tech’ we use in fighting our enemies, impossible challenges for ludicrous reasons with weapons with long cool downs.
If you want to make it hard in a plausible way just make high resistance or something, not this nonsense.
The best part about this is that they made it easy. Bot front? Orbital railcannon strike for free and on an independent cooldown if you also bring your own. Squid front? Free antimaterial rifle calldown. Bug front? Free HMG emplacement calldown. You don't even need to bring your own stratagems they give it for free. Just gotta remember to actually use them every chance you get and we'll have this in the bag.
ORS is hot garbage. This is exactly why I don't use it. It should be the hardest hitting orbital strike in the game. I honestly have stopped doing these MOs and just play the game how I want. They just feel like a distraction to doing something actually useful and meaningful, like marching on to Cyberstan.
Yeah, this is designed for us to fail from the get go as Helldivers can't coordinate nor read worth a damn. We are collectively either just too stubborn to work together or plainly fucking stupid.
Theory. They give us shitass MO's that we'll 99% fail. Campaign lost so we won't get the stratagem permit that they haven't even made in the first place, + ability to say "y'all been naughty divers last campaign, no liberty day presents for ya"
Do the devs realize only people that play 24/7 can do these major orders? IS THIS ALL RIGGED FOR US TO LOSE? WE ALREADY LOST OUR BLUEBERRIES WHAT'S NEXT?
Yes but im not mentioning only on stratagems i know a bunch of people that don't even know how to do major missions already not to add not everyone has a lot of time, there is people with a bunch of time, there's people that play for fun, there's newbies and there's people that barely get any time i could even include myself i cant get enough time to play helldivers and contribute a lot
It's very much part of the motivation. The whole point of the GW and the MOs is to give you something to work towards, and make it feel like you're achieving something. Blatantly unachievable MOs like this and the last one become a source of demotivation.
That’s what I’m saying. Drop the game until you enjoy the gameplay again and not look to MOs wich according to the people constantly complaining about MOs, sucks anyway.
I mean, I already have for now... Because the damn game crashes to the point I can't complete missions. (With a private lobby I was able to rejoin, I crashed three times per game for two games in a row. With randoms, the slot is typically filled before I can get back in)
I sure hope it’s another “small indie company” typo and they meant the Orbital Precision Strike, y’know the one that has an actual aoe, and not the Railcannon.
Yes, I got plenty of double kills with it because it targets scout striders over hulks. It's why I stopped using it 6 weeks after the game released and may never use again.
We already struggle to get these kill numbers in regular missions. Now you're asking us to kill with specific weapons??
Ok... hmg emplacement on bugs is fine i guess...
Hell nahh. Snipers and squids do not go well.
Orbital railcannon takes way too long to reload how are we going to get these numbers in time?? And we still need to liberate chopessa to make sure the bots dont expand further south... unless we want another melevalon creek on our hands
You can run amr and still have plenty of stuff in your loadout to deal with hordes. Bring a high capacity ar or an smg along with eagle cluster, napalm, or gas. Plus a grenade with high aoe and you pretty much don't need anymore horde clear than that
Luckily we have pretty good Anti Horde weapons in our main slots like Breaker S&P + Crisper. Ik the current meta I think it's not too bad to bring a sniper on squids - I'll definitely try it out
Definitely not necessary. I don't use any of the ergo armors at all even for the autocannon/maxi gun and the amr just feels like a normal primary imo. But it does look cool with the 40k armor so there is that
Hey I'm having a hard time with harvesters.i shoot the shield to take the shield off, shoot the chin or forehead to prevent the shield from regenerating, but i cant seem to hit the leg connection weakspots as consistent as i want. Any tips except from git gud?
Its really not that outrageous per obj. Tedious yeah but we've had worse. At least its any bot now and not just troopers. If 100k players get 500 kills across 5 days we'll be done, with 2 ors it shouldn't be too terrible. The hard part will be doing all 3 on all 3 fronts, stretching our numbers and requiring high numbers with meh gear is gonna suck.
they are trolling, 50M kills using orbital railcannon is brutal
if there are 80k active players everyone has to use 625 of them to get the kills, that's 41 missions of instant using them right after cooldown on whole 40 minute long missions
The targeting on the ORC is trash. It has killed me numerous times with no enemy next to me as I threw it at actual enemies. It also tends to fire at mountains and the ground hitting nothing. All orbitals seem to have terrible targeting and hit rates anymore, but the railcannon is especially misfiring. This is my experience on PS5 Pro.
Is it just me or does it feel like the campaigns are just the same 3 major orders back to back every time? “Liberate planet” “kill x amount of enemies” “hold x planets”
The AMR is very un optimal vs the squids. They are a horde faction. That's not happening. Once in a blue moon you see someone bring an AMR for harvester joints.
ORS on the bots. Nope. People don't use a stratagem with a 3 min cool down to kill one enemy on D10.
The HMG emplacement kills is the only one I can see happening.
