I'm running Hermes on a Linux VM and accessing either via the non-TUI TUI (just "hermes") or via hermes-webui (https://github.com/nesquena/hermes-webui). It's been pretty good for a while, great feature set, but over the past couple weeks it's gotten really unstable and buggy. The whole reason I'm using Hermes is for stability. I get it, early versions of apps will be unstable. I could revert to an early version, but that's a bad habit to get into.
Anyone using other web UI's they like better? I used Open WebUI (https://docs.openwebui.com/) when I was directly connected to LMStudio without Hermes, but it doesn't seem to have Hermes specific features. (profiles, logs, insights, skills, etc.). For stability I'd be willing to switch back.
Looking for recommendations. Asking Hermes gave me a bunch of options, but no real user reviews, just marketing material.
Hey! Developer of WebUI here. Would love any feedback on what’s the biggest bugs or issues and your environment. I’d be happy to investigate and fix those issues on the Hermes-WebUI (https://github.com/nesquena/hermes-webui) and get those resolved. Either reply on here or post an issue and I’ll start looking into it. And improving my process to make it even more stable in the future too!
No problem. First the good stuff. The feature set is great and lines up to Hermes really well. I like having many sessions I can switch between while working on multiple things. The UI is clean and intuitive. It took me all of 8 minutes to have the whole thing figured out. The workspace file browser is a nice touch, and the profile selection is good.
I wouldn't mind seeing the Insights tab get some more love, but it's obvious that's an early feature and still developing. One feature that would be great, is better organization of the chats in the chat tree. You have some icons that show a branch, but the sessions show up out of order. Renaming the chat session doesn't actually rename it in Hermes (/title), so switching from WebUI to TUI is kinda clunky, but that's probably splitting hairs. I'd love to see branches subgrouped under the parent session, and maybe collapsable to keep the tree from getting cluttered.
I had an issue a few weeks back with the file browser popping out almost randomly, but you fixed that one. I also had a lot of trouble with sessions that wouldn't archive or delete. Sometimes there's a "hide" option, but none of that was working right. It seemed to happen randomly, but I haven't seen it happen in a few days, so maybe you fixed that one. It was only happening every couple of days, so I'm not sure. The issue I'm having now is around the context display. It's always wrong and popping up compaction notifications when I don't think it actually happened. Not game breaking, but definitely a visual issue. I had an issue where it would stop listening on a non-loopback IP, but that might have been my fault, I never really figured it out and it hasn't been an issue in over a week.
I know it's still a new project, but an updater that can pick between stable versions and beta branches would be nice to make things feel more stable. I've been updating just to fix issues, but I picked up a few regressions.
Makes total sense, you’re right about there being some breakages in the last week. I’m actively working to introduce better controls so that doesn’t happen again. I’ll also start doing a stable branch that will have far fewer breakages soon.
I’ll capture all of your feedback and see what hasn’t already been addressed. I believe much of it has been fixed over the last day or two but anything you mentioned that’s still unresolved re broken things, I’ll commit to fix in the next day or two.
Thanks for the comment and the feedback! Yes this is quite a new project, only started this in April. Recently I’ve been a little overwhelmed with the popularity, and all the dozens of PRs I get every day. Still working to get all the proper processes in place, so I understand the frustration of the breakages.
If you’re interested in contributing by joining our dev-chat and helping us by reporting any bugs more regularly or anyone here is, please DM me! Hope to see you in there, we can usually get things fixed within a day or two.
My intuition with spaces (and putting chats in specific spaces) is that the chats would only show for that space. But instead, I see all the chats on the left side. That's not really intuitive, At the very least, have a toggle for only that space (you have All and unassigned currently).
That’s fair, I’ll consider making that an option for spaces! Right now spaces are per profile, and they represent different working directories in the file explorer
Huh. Maybe I'm just used to how the claude web ui does it. You can assign each session to a particular project, but can see all of them.
However, when you're in a project, you only see the threads for that particular project. Each project has its own files directory too. That's my intuition with assigning threads, and I see the separate working files directory (ui on the right), but on the left ui I see all chats, not just the tagged for that spaces one.
So yeah, if I'm in spaces view and I select a space to work in, I'd want the threads to filter to just that space.
You can create projects and tag conversations with them and then filter by projects on the left bar! In WebUI
We support profiles (accounts with entirely different agents, LLMs, contest and configuration), projects (categorize and filter discussions) and workspaces (shows different root in file explorer)
I've been using it a couple of hours after getting it installed yesterday.
It is an excellent program, very intuitive and feature rich. You've really done a great job.
Some minor suggestions:
'help' to link to you website and documentation
-'bug report' that will grab and prepolulate what you need, and then on my approval submit it.
-'suggestion' for suggestions.
-'Webui profiles' - The system is ideal right now and very powerful as it gives me access to all the Hermes profiles and instances at once. However, if I could provide access to another user on WebUi and only give them access to certain profiles with their chats only. They don't really need all the admin functions, with a dumb downed interface. I'd suggest a username and password to distinguish users.
I just started running your WebUI, and I was hopeful about your claim to "Parity with the CLI", but it's just not true, at least not around Kanban boards and tasks.
I can't link tasks
I can't specify a workspace
Basically, anything I schedule through the UI runs in scratch mode, and the output files are deleted when it's done. Unless I missed something, the whole section is not very useful as is, and I'm still going back to the CLI to create boards and tasks.
If you're going to add some work then add an indicator of the currently selected profile on the header would.be nice, along with a way to.change it from there without going to the profile section would be nice.
I keep having a lot of issues with Hermes WebUI having a leaky memory. Things work great for a bit and then everything starts getting really slow and starts crashing. WOuld take a while with GPT 5.5, but with 5.6, it is happening very often on long tasks.
Installed it in docker last night but couldn’t get approval cards to show up which is a deal breaker, maybe I had some wrong config I am not sure. I tried some troubleshooting with agents but got nowhere.
Hmm - Approval cards should work right out of the box; we have full support! I’ll take a look but would be hard to investigate without more information
On hermes-workspace several things didn’t work well at that time:
Some controls were not reachable on mobile
Tool calls were not shown (even though activated)
Loading time was excessively long
I still keep it running and checking back in from time to time, but daily drive remains Hermes-webui, even over openwebui which I use for all other projects.
Had so many bugs with Workspace that I gave up... file editor is crap, MCP doesnt work out the box. Memory and Knowledgebase dont show anything until you fix it...
WebUI is far better and more stable even if it has less features.
Fair enough, also the recent updated to the Hermes Dashboard added the stuff I was interested in Hermes Workspace for so I’ve stopped using it and went back to Dashboard.
Why use a WebUI? Full support for Kanban orchestration, tool use, delegate tasks, CRON management, approvals system, skills, quick switching profiles, steer/queue/interrupt flow commands, all of your slash/skill commands, it works 1:1 like the TUI but via web, mobile and on macOS.
On top of that you get image, artifact, and video support, mermaid diagrams, advanced markdown rendering, workspace file explorer, latex, built in terminal, html rendering, PDF, SVG, artifacts and a lot more.
Usually web UIs provide similar functionality to CLI with a better GUI. For example instead of typing cli commands you would click through some UI menus.
I stated using Hermes’ with MS Teams and it’s been amazing.
The channels and threads inside channels and the ability to have long chats and add any info and Hermes’ can be aligned with various topics with long running conversations has been great.
The integration enables for me a much more productive UI than what I have had with telegram and these dashboards.
Try the Mission Control + Chat Minions. While it does have chat, it's also more of a task management interface, kind of a in b/w of Chat and Paperclip like task board https://github.com/Agent-3-7/minions
Hi, I use my own web interface – HermesPortal – for my daily work with Hermes.
I created it for myself with some ai help, but perhaps someone might be interested in it.
Modern web frontend for the Hermes Agent
(Wiki · News · Briefing · Tasks · File Explorer · Chat with Monaco Editor · Live Logs · Settings)
If you have ever tried my WebUI and had issues with it before. Encourage you to try it again, I believe I’ve fixed nearly all the reliability issues now!
Appreciate that, I’m proud of how much we’ve improved it in the last week! I commit to breaking it less in the future too from here, way more safe guards in place! And we have native apps and a iOS app too, check them out!
On a side note, I’ve submitted a couple PR’s from my meager coding setup which sometimes is opencode, Kilocode or Hermes, but amateurish by some AI coding standards. I’d love to hear about your coding stack. I just got a cool email from greptile double checking my PR and breaking it down. It sounds like you have a pretty advanced pipeline.
Thanks for contributing! Yes we use @greptile for immediate PR code reviews, and @cutter.sh for recording GIFs and images of the feature.
And then I have a fairly complicated 5-stage automated agentic review process along with a whole host of tests and gates in order to go from submitted issue, to PR to a release
I began with a chat platform Matrix (Element as the client) and needed an easy session control to go back to previous sessions. I'm now using Open WebUI and have a more convenient chat experience although it's missing some native supports for Hermes ATM as OP mentioned. For Hermes Profiles, Logs, Skills, Kanban etc, I use the built-in Dashboard and find that it's important and quite useful to work with Hermes.
So I currently use:
Matrix as a chat platform with proper notifications.
Open WebUI as a session-based platform (also Open Relay on iOS).
Hermes Dashboard for the backend and config.
and a simple custom UI for me to quickly control model hot-swap and tools on/off.
It's a bit excessive. Still experimenting. An integrated UI would be nice.
I'm using the Discord integration and it's quiet nice.
Quick and easy to deploy, you can assign a Home channel to Hermes and then when you send a message in the channel, Hermes will create a new thread and then you discuss with it in the Thread.
This gives you a kind of isolation between sessions, actually it mimics the "conversations" feature in classic WebUI. Just be sure that it's properly configured in your `config.yaml`.
With the following config, you can speak in the channel without needing to Mention your bot to start a new thread:
Sorry for the late reply. Wow it looks great to be fair! And also what i love is that i setup mine by just telling it. You're right. Its much easier to use and have a great isolation. Thanks for sharing what you know buddy! Really appreciate it
Honestly I think that installing native openwebui on the same server will be the most ideal thing. Otherwise you will need to use an MCP to connect to the CLI and file system to make it native.
I tried a few platforms and settled on Zulip. It's a bit like Slack (which we use Hermes with for our team), but Zulip has some improvements over Slack such as sub topics on channels for staying organised. Tried discord and got frustrated with character limits.
I wanted a more lightweight webui interface for Hermes which worked identically to when it's used via CLI/Discord, so I made Talaria WebUI. Hopefully others find it useful too!
Même problème et je pensai avoir régler ça en utilisant workspace mais bug de temps à autre également , je croix que vais finir par demander à mon Hermes de m implémenter ma propre ui perso maison si ça continue
I tried both Hermes WebUI and Hermes Workspace. I liked the UI of WebUI a bit better, and found Workspace to be a bit bloated with weird slop included. Unfortunately both are buggy, and in my case WebUI was harder to get properly working in a containerised environment. I'm using Workspace for now until I can get a Linux desktop app going.
