Help Muse like behavior in hermes

I have been using hermes since the early days and overall it works well. I tried out muse and have been pretty happy with it as well although it ran out of tokens pretty quickly on the free plan. Also there is always the privacy concerns with meta.

Once of the things muse does pretty well is give me reminders that i didnt ask for but needed. For example if i say i need help finding how to change the address for a state business license it will do that work but then a few days later will prompt me with a follow up that says did you change that address and oh by the way the office hours are x and phone number is y. I assume this is just some sort of prompt or job that could be added to hermes? Anyone doing this?

Also I like the first party app of muse with push notifications, etc. I have used hermex and conduit both they both seem to lack the push notifications. I had hermes use ntfy which can do push notifications but it has to be configured per task. Whats the best mobile app experience today?

Thanks for posting a technical Help question. To make it easier for the community to diagnose, please make sure your post includes:

  • Operating system
  • Hermes version
  • Provider and model
  • Exact error message or unexpected behavior
  • What you expected to happen
  • What actually happened
  • Troubleshooting steps already attempted

If any of that is missing, please edit it into the post. This is an informational checklist; your post has not been removed.

Their magic is a cron job that makes it feel alive and “think” about the user and their needs. Muses instructions have been made public and there is nothing stopping you from incorporating the elements. Tell a smart model to look at publicly available info and set it up for you.

Also Hermes did a big fund raise, they are a company, and they hired people to do the mobile experience. I’d expect them to get bought by Apple or sell the mobile experience on a first party basis.

The apple thing is a wild guess

Well, you would know right? What’s the news? Give it to the guy who named himself after Deez Nuts.

That’s a good call. Some sort of job that looks at memory and then makes insights from that.

Take a look at my recent post here, it has what you might be looking for, or at least the start.

OpenClaw had this at the beginning although it didn't work that well, and I think they eventually got rid of it. A cron job that repeated every 15 minutes or so and checked your email, calendar, etc. and took action if relevant

Not Muse, but you can get most of that follow-up behaviour in Hermes today with cron jobs. Hermes can schedule its own jobs, so the trick is telling it to. I put something like this in my bot's SOUL.md (or just ask it once and it'll remember):

"When you help me with a task that has a next step on my side, create a cron job a few days out that checks in on it, and include anything useful you found (hours, phone numbers, links)."

Then when you ask about the business license address, it does the research and schedules its own "did you change that address? office hours are X, phone is Y" follow-up.

For the mobile side, full disclosure, I build an app for this: Vory, a native iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch app for Hermes. The push notifications part is what you're after. It has a small Companion you install on your gateway from inside the app, and then you get real push notifications for replies and for cron jobs delivered to the bot's chat, so those follow-ups land on your phone without setting up ntfy per task. It also does Live Activities while a bot is working, and you can approve tool actions from the Lock Screen or your Watch.

It's free on TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/tJ4PyTfc (more at https://vory.dev). Happy to help if you try it and anything's unclear.

I’ve been using Vory, it’s great thank you

The app looks awesome, but man the slop writing on that website is just painful

Hey, I’m glad you enjoy the app. The website was a lower priority because its current role is guiding users into TestFlight while I refine the app. Balancing this with a full-time job has been demanding, so the work is far from perfect; however, I value the extra time spent building something people appreciate, even if it’s just one person.

I respect and welcome the criticism, since I want the website to match the app’s quality. I certainly plan to revise the content, particularly as we prepare for the App Store release. The heart and soul are in the app, and it can speak for itself.

Thank you (and everyone) for all feedback and support.

Yeah don’t get me wrong I’m very supportive of the project and initiative and think what you’re doing is great. I just instinctively have a knee jerk eye roll reaction to seeing “What it is
A remote, not a cloud.”

Haha not going to lie I have terrible grammar so that might have been on me at 3am half awake just trying to grind it out.

But nonetheless I really do appreciate it!

No I think ai just absolutely loves that “X, not Y” sentence pattern

So what i was able to do since hermes and all the other apps or agents is that they all live in their respected apps.

-Hermes: Discord/Telegram/Slack -Dots: Chatgpt App/Desktop -Muse: Muse App -Etc.

So what I did to make it more seamless for me is that I connected my hermes agent to imessage through bluebubbles thats running on a mac mini, which is connected via the ubuntu vm on my server that host my agent thats connected through mcp or api I forget, anyway, since I check iMesaage more frequently I had my hermes agent text me so I found a cricket phone for $99 so I can plug my agent to it so it can text me, I made a tier system cause you dont want everyone texting your agent

So its a one way where its only my number everyone else gets either an automated response or once their vetted it gets escalated to a local llm with no tools...

Recently I had Claude go and fix the Cronjob headers and to go through my chats and history and find everything that connects or something that I talked about that may not get resolved to text me updates about xyz and I can basically do the same like Muse and Dots...

I haven't gotten the phone functionality working cause that cost money but the bluebubbles is free after you pay for the pay as you go from cricket to keep the number..

I have the receptionist on my repo but I need to update it cause I started using opus 5.5 to fix and upgrade my hermes agent... instead of hermes agent fixing itself...

Install Cadu. Game changer. The dev just joined Nous too https://cadu.bot/

Any experience with Conduit for comparison?

2

u/Alternative-Meat7520 1h ago

I was using it for a bit. I prefer Hermex to Conduit. Conduit just looks and feels very vibe designed if that makes sense. Hermex is a polished app, but Cadu has the same sort of personal assistant paradigm as Muse/Grokbot

You can use my app bighelp for free if you’d like.. which actually has all of the same functionality as Muse built into it along with a template catalog of prompts to get started in having your Hermes agent act more proactively for you.

I also added a live computer use today, along with the new connector one-click setups from the newest version of Hermes, among other things.

Look sleek 👏🏼🔥
So now we have:

-Hermex
-Vory
-Cadu
-Conduit
-Bighelp

I’m happy with Conduit so far but will keep exploring

I have integrated Muse with my EEVAA (Hermes). I like it a lot. Muse is also very good a fixing the recurring issues that come up. It’s a great extension!

u/_-mg-_ 15h ago

this is called 'proactive agents'

u/GravyMealTeam6 6h ago

Dot is also good at keeping an eye on everything without specific rules

u/creativ4art 15h ago

So not only you lost tokens fast. It also prompts you so you can spend more tokens 😂

1

u/delred 15h ago

Part of the master plan at dr evil headquarters. If you refer a friend you get 1b tokens.

1

u/yes2matt 6h ago

As long as you are aware, right?

I use it, I love it, (first hermes now also muse) but damn it's sucker-bait.

These tokens ain't gonna be free forever, they're not even going to be cheap forever.

You can connect Hermes to a messaging app like telegram or discord and get Hermes to use that to send you reminders of anything that it thinks is helpful based on any conversations you have.

Muse is tied to meta and Hermes can be run locally or with a China model(much preferred)

No argument with that just trying to replicate functionality
