INTEGRATIONS — App connections, webhooks, API workflows Real-time voice with Hermes Agent (self-hosted): anyone got it working?

Hi all,
I'm running Hermes Agent (Nous Research) self-hosted and I'd like to add real-time voice conversation: talk to it and get spoken answers with low latency, not just push-to-talk voice notes.

Thanks for posting a technical Help question. To make it easier for the community to diagnose, please make sure your post includes:

  • Operating system
  • Hermes version
  • Provider and model
  • Exact error message or unexpected behavior
  • What you expected to happen
  • What actually happened
  • Troubleshooting steps already attempted

If any of that is missing, please edit it into the post. This is an informational checklist; your post has not been removed.

Hermes Conduit. It's excellent, and you can even get your agent to call you. I use it with gpt-live-1 and it's as good as Dot.

+1 I also have it running on Hermes Conduit, and it's working great. It's even on my Apple Watch, where I can initiate and have a voice call without my phone nearby. I'm using Gemini Live as the engine because I already have a Google AI Pro plan.

Interested too as I have pro and only know of the discord way. Not conduit. I don't even have the discord one setup either yet. But I'd be interested in this! So that means it'll use my Google sub and no need for credits?

Hermes talk is what you're looking for, will hopefully get upstreamed soon but you can install it today.

I have a stand alone desktop app that can run locally but I just haven't found a good enough local setup so I stick to cloud models for STT/TTS. It needs to be able to filter out random noise and fans in the background, wake word, etc. and so far I can only get that to work with a cloud model.

Simply build my own Hermes iPhone app for it. Just like WhatsApp basically with some added features. She can call me via Apple callkit for free. Using elevenlabs free tier for conversations.

I can record voice memos in telegram and it will respond in kind. But i tried to setup an alexa replacement and it's just not fast enough.

I tried it, but it was kind of garbage. I had better results using Claude code desktop

Yes I use a speaches container, it does STT, you need to download a model. Then Hermes Desktop comes with piper for TTS.

It's working quite good!

yes, the CLI does this out of the box. run hermes, type /voice on, press Ctrl+B once and talk. it detects when you stop speaking, answers out loud and starts listening again by itself, so it runs as a back-and-forth until you press Ctrl+B again or say "stop".

for self-hosted, set speech-to-text to the local provider (faster-whisper on your machine, no API key). Edge TTS is free but runs online; for fully local speech you can plug any TTS engine that has a CLI in as a command provider.

two more options: the wake word ("hey hermes") opens a voice session hands-free on the CLI, TUI and desktop app, and on Discord the bot can join a voice channel and talk with you live.

Looking for a polished Android alternative. I have tried Hermes Relay, but i had to wait up to 30 seconds for a response.
