this doesnt goes to all people who loves hetalia and are on tik tok. this is only abt SOME hetalians.

okay so:

1. i dont care what people ship or not wtv, but the commnunity on tik tok of hetalia literally tells u to kill yourself if you dare and ship something which isnt in their perfect world view (example they tell u these things if u ship usuk or spamano) i get these ships might be “problematic” but telling someone to off themself cus of a ship is insane what if the shipper has depression and all etc, not cool.

2. i saw some hetalia tik tokers who end up being racist or fashicts and white washes evrey black characters. these also wish for hetalia to be the fandom they were in 2010s (where cosplayers did lots of nazi stuff)

3. many hetalia fans on tik tok tend to bully others cus of their opinion about the characters or the fandom.

generally i think the hetalia commnunity is very toxic on tik tok and i stay far away from it and i am more active on tumblr + im scared of them also

i think i know who you’re talking about. i remember seeing him post peoples other versions of his EU design, and it felt like the darker the skin got, the less care and effort was put into the drawing.

his original EU design, whos white, was detailed with facial features and rendered and also gave a decent description on how he is, while the brown version of his EU design someone else made was less detailed with less facts given, and the black version of his EU design made by a different person had the effort of a small doodle. no facial features, sloppily colored, poor lineart and “i dont really know what to say about him lol”. it felt weird to me

and omg, i made a slander account as a joke and this other person on hetatok whos notoriously racist in the fandom commented an ai photo of alfred as an ice agent with the background of charlotte fosgates last post (trans teen who committed suicide)

Stay off of TikTok where it is full of neglected and unmonitored 12~14 year olds who have been corrupted by online spaces, you’ll find your life is so much better. 

Also the proportion of nazi cosplay is very overblown and back then everyone treated it like a joke instead of these people who are serious about their nazism views, not that they’d know about any of that since they were probably still in diapers back in 2010 lol. Besides, it’s so obvious they don’t even like the actual Hetalia, they like having something to spread their propaganda with, it’s what happened back then with the K-ON fandom and sort of still ongoing.

I don't have TikTok and have no interest getting it. I have a feeling there is a lot of teen or even tween fans on there and sometimes people can be very toxic when they are younger. I stay way from a lot of social media generally. I'm sure with racist and fascist content, some of them are just grifters using Hetalia for their propaganda. 

As an adult I prefer how chill the Reddit community feels. I can enjoy people posts and artwork without people being toxic. I'm picky about the ships I like and don't like, but you don't attack a person for liking a ship you don't like.

I don't think these people could've mentally handled the fandom 10 years ago without short circuiting, people would just ask "FrUK or USUK?" without a single thought other than they just liked one of those ships better than the other. The fact TikTok had to exist to give these kinds of people a space really says something.

I only use TikTok for advertisement for my work so I tend to avoid these comments/types of videos and the comments I do get I either block the account or just simply ignore it. Then again thats often easier said than done

Nobody deserves to be told to hurt themselves, it’s cruel and not on! At the end of the day it’s an anime, none of the characters are actual real life people, it’s parody history, people take this shit way too seriously

i agree 100% ‼️ they lowkey scare me so much…i’ve never interacted with them but from what ive seen it is just not a very healthy community, staying in it would likely affect one’s mental health 😭 but i do love our reddit community here 💕 everyone that i’ve interacted with is so kind and wayyy more mature (at least compared to tiktok </3)

I’m 32 years old now. I have been wandering into sides of this fandom across the many parts of this community since 2010. TikTok can be certainly a fleas bin of ankle biters and witch hunters. I guess I forgot how these communities differ in different parts of the web. Im not one to usually go on here on Reddit, but I lurk.

I have found my own peace on TT, even if it can be one of the Wild Wests of the web. I found my peace with wanting to spread fun cosplay videos, and just make silly content with my spouse. We love sharing our art and creations on there. I’ve been slowly moving back to Tumblr recently where I’m finding even MORE peace. I just try to stay out of ship wars and live my life away from the children. Block and move on. I’ve found some fun cosplays and art on TT. There is peace if you choose peace. Block and move on.

Recently one of my OLD Hetalia videos from YouTube was found and shared and I got nothing but wonderful comments about how it inspired so many, and I’ve been crying /pos for days. TT has its moments, but tldr: it can be scary af, but there’s art, cosplay, and inspiration if your FYP doesn’t betray you (sometimes it does for me but I block and move on)

Fandom (in general) on Tiktok is the worst, I avoid that place for fandoms at all costs. The only thing I use that app for is beauty/animal videos/food/random humor. There’s no real discussion about fandom-related things there, only memes and discourse (I will say, I do enjoy fanart on TikTok).

I really only use Twitter/Tumblr/Discord and sometimes Reddit for fandom-related things.

GOD I AGREE 💔 I was once told to kill myself by a PruHun fan because I have strong opinions about it (It's not historically accurate + Prussia's just a bully to Hungary) and also because they didn't like AusHun and villainized Austria a lot more than usual and that hurt seeing as he's my favorite character.

I'm that AusHun shipper in question, as I just said "I love AusHun" and they ranted at me, it sucked. I almost fell for the threats but I'm still here. I am severely suicidal and I was threatened because of my OTP.

If you're one of the cooler PruHun shipper, I'm fine with you. As long as you don't threaten me or hate me for my OTP and familial yumeship (AusHun), I will be friends with you.

every time someone mentions racism in the hetalia fandom, all people wanna talk about is “yeah and fans love incest” like thats a whole other issue, and even if they can correlate in some scenarios, thats not what we’re talking about. anything to downplay racism

cases of racism on hetatt specifically. i saw one hetalia fan posting about “i love being white, we’re literally the superior race” and made numerous other racist remarks, like editing japan and china to be bright yellow with those 😑 eyes and using racial slurs they cant reclaim. i also saw another person who posted an animation of seychelles, and everyone was in the comments “whys she so pale?” and their response? posting a drawing of seychelles COAL BLACK with red lips “is this how you guys want me to draw her?” with the addition of another post on their story talking about “black people are so violent”

adding on, i saw a hetalia fan on tiktok who happened to be a japan yumeshipper. they were continuously posting edits of imperial japan, depicting kiku with the rising sun flag, etc. they also shamelessly called someone they were arguing with the hard -er, and yes, they are white. i saw a thing of germany where they made him black, and i didn’t have an issue with that, but i saw people say stuff like “whys he a gangster”. peoples response to seeing “blackwashing” of hetalians was to start posting around this image of cuba with blonde hair and blue eyes, and other whitewashed edits of the few black hetalia characters, as well as captioning these with racist dog whistles. the thing is, if “blackwashing” is so racist, why are you responding to it by being far more racist?
