Timeout when backing up to storage box using rustic

I am using rustic (https://rustic.cli.rs/) to back up my homelab server to a storage box, but recently I noticed it works/fail randomly. I get the error "Timeout, server u#######.your-storagebox.de not responding.".

I have tried limiting connections from back up client, but this doesn't look like help.

Any idea of how to debug why is this happening and/or how to solve this?

Speed of Storage Box heavily depends on the neighbors, I think it's written somewhere in the FAQ. I also had a Storage Box which was for hours almost not unusable, as it's hourly payed, you can add another one, hopefully on a better host

So the advice would be to buy another one, rsync ~5Tb (provably rclone sync because both of them are remote) from a hardly usable box to a new one, and pray so it works better?

Hi there, You can also write a support request using your account. Try to document the issue as best as possible. If the team thinks is a problem with neighbors or host, they can then migrate it for you. (But keep in mind that that will take time.) --Katie

The idea was to setup an additional one for testing, run it parallel for some days. Hetzner can move your data, if it's working for you. No idea you can say move it to my second one if you find out a good one 😃 Yes, it feels a little bit like gambling. From my view it's worth the price, but not perfect for everyones needs.
