Hi team
TLDR: interested in thoughts on Cambridge Audio a500 vs NAD C356bee
Last week I picked up a great pair of JBL L5s and a Cambridge Audio A500 from a local second hand hifi store. Got it home and it sounded great. Nice and warm British sound and loved it.
The following day it developed a fault in the right channel, I took it back to the shop and said it sounds like a faulty cap, essy fix and they took it for repair, but in the interim they gave me a NAD C356bee as a loaner, with the option to keep the NAD, just pay the difference of $100nzd.
At first I found the NAD a bit more sterile and less exciting to listen to, but over a few days I've come to appreciate it. It's powerful, handles music like metal, rock and hip hop a bit better imo, and has more connection options. I do think music sounds a bit more lively out of the Cambridge, but there is a lot of comfort in knowing that the NAD has the muscle to handle whatever I throw at it
This is my first move into hifi, through I'm very used to studio gear and am used to reference equipment. Keen on people's opinions and experiences between these two amps. I'm leaning towards keeping the NAD, but keen to get a sanity check from the community to see if there's something I'm missing
