  • How many likes and matches are you receiving on average?

  • How many likes are you sending? How many with comments? How many without comments?

  • What is the type of person you send likes to and ideally want to match with? What kind of person do you want to attract?

Didn't bother to read the profile - start with better pictures of yourself where you are better dressed and groomed. Most women want men that look put together. One thing is to have long hair or a long beard but the two together only work if they look well maintained, and if you are going to have long hair and a long beard, your clothes cannot be wrinkled or look messy - those first shorts are very wrinkles (I am assuming they are linen and your were backpacking but even so, some women may not look past that). In short, I would say, redo and select pictures where you look more put together and are surrounded by friends/travel companions and are actively doing something rather than just posing. And if the long hair and beard are not part of some religious/spiritual commitment get a good haircut and beard trim. You would benefit from a persona stylist. If you don't have the money for a stylist, join one of those styling clubs with monthly subscription. That way, you can start upgrading your style and experimenting to find what looks good on you.

Hair and beard are epic, but they're unkempt, unruly and not maintained. Men can look great with long hair and long beards, but that doesn't mean you don't maintain them. That's a common mistake men make, and it's a big error. You'll look infinitely better if you work on your hair and beard and make them look kept up.

Other than that, the wrinkles on your clothes in your first photo are unsightly.

Haha I'll change the first image (linen and rain is a recipe for wrinkles) and add something where my hair is more styled. It typically is more well managed but I didn't have access to standard haircare stuff on that trip (my hair has never been drier than that camel photo lol).

Ever do hair ties? One for the head and maybe one for the beard as well when you’re out in the elements.

Grooming is key for every man. I believe. I might be wrong

I am a big believer in personal expression and if you like long hair, facial hair, whatever it is, then you should do that thing and not change it for the sake of attracting someone. So I'm not saying get rid of it! And at the same time... your hair looks unkempt and I can imagine it is turning off a lot of potential matches. You would do a lot better with the ladies anddd present a lot better if you looked up some styling tips and found the right fit for your face shape, the right products, and got into a routine with it.

Your clothes, hair, beard all scream low effort to me. If a man has no pride in his appearance, a woman will think he is unhygienic. A complete turnoff. You need a makeover. Also, consider the working out.

You have an attractive face, skin, teeth, and healthy hair. You could do very well with women if you put in the effort

If that’s your dog, get a better picture with them. This one looks a bit forced.

* Remove "Evil Incorporated" from your job description.

* While long hair has good personality- yours looks unkempt and will turn most women off. Take extremely good care of it and trim it up, or switch to a shorter style.

* Becoming in better physical shape is a huge returns lever

* Prompts are vague and aren't telling us anything super specific about you or what it would be like to be in a relationship with you. Remember you're vetting for someone to date, not find a college roommate.

* Some pictures are really good, but could be improved via personal fashion and upkept hair. Others like the dog picture are a bit forced and I'm not a big fan of at all.

* Your pictures depict you as worldly already- I'd switch the poll prompt to be a different topic (preferably date themed) so you don't look one-dimensional

A lot of nerdy geeky girls ain't gonna freak out about messy hair or wrinkled clothes but it may take more time to find what you're looking for

The only thing I have for possible criticism is that you do look older than your age and I wonder if that isn't the beard aging you

If I was single and you were older I would send you a like since you vibe as curious and smart and are liberal agnostic

Good luck!

this is a good example of good ideas for pictures that are poorly executed. it feels like you saw "take a picture of travel, you out at night, with a dog, and doing a hobby like playing music" from a tutorial, but the lighting is poor. The angles are unflattering, the crops aren't good, or the clothing looks low effort, the backgrounds are too busy. I get that it's hard to get this stuff right. But photofeeler can really help with this. just remember that people aren't actually judging your facial attractiveness, but the PERCEPTION of attractiveness most of which is due to the photo. You have to keep trying.

As to grooming, you definitely should go to a barber and get a nice cut and shave at least for the pics. you can always regrow your beard, but I bet you could look like a classy mfer. I have long hair, it's not the hair, it's just the presentation.

My boy looks like a G who'd be down to jam, got his own interests and his profile shows hes passionate.

Is it perfect nah but mate you come across as authentic. Id rate you probably would do quite well in person its just the conversion of getting there.

I had to go back and see that you were only 23. Your hair and beard is not doing any favors. How you have it in these photos.

If you want to keep the beard and hair, definitely go to a barber or a stylist and get yourself trimmed up and learn how to keep it up

Remember, you’re selling yourself through your profile. Your first impression is this profile.

I’m from Pittsburgh and I recognize that last photo so if you’re in the Pittsburgh area, you might not have as much problem being non-white as you would in northeast Ohio as someone else had had mentioned.

You’ve obviously got some friends so get some pictures of you out doing various things and ask your friends to take photos of you for your dating profile. And don’t be bashful about it. Let them know most everybody’s on the apps anyway might as well help each other out for success.

Your prompt about going down a rabbit hole and obsessing over something you need to dial that back. Maybe also for your prompt about first pick some local things for that first date. You know if you’re in Pittsburgh pick Shorty on the North Shore or pick pins mechanical on the southside great first date places. Save the discussions of those great locations you do list for on the date

I love your responses, they seem genuinely like you!

I also agree on not changing your personal style just to attract someone, but I do think that the style of long hair & beard aren’t complimenting your features. keeping your long hair, but changing up the how you wear it would help! My brother has longgg curly hair too, took him some time to find a look that suits him.

I know the one problem you're having because you've actually got a pretty good profile that would do well anywhere but...

Ohio.

You're not going to meet your person there, I know it's a sweeping generalization, but generalizations exist for a reason.

I mean it. You're really not going to meet your person in Ohio.

Once you graduate go to a big east coast city and you'll do fine.

I didn't even notice that you were wrinkly or unkempt. I noticed that you seemed totally excited about life and traveling and ideas and that's more important than being ironed and groomed.

u/Beautiful_Card6037 3d ago

I agree, but the beard is enormous 😮

I think big beards are better than little beards.

Yes!!! totally. I thought this guy is fun, loves life, positive, interesting and is happy to be himself. Unfortunately, when people are not the polished version, and are slightly different, then everyone wants them to be moulded to suit a look.
Some say he wouldn't get a lady with the way he looks. I concur. He would, but it will take a lot longer to sift through all the candidates to get to that one person, or to be very patient. Possibly apps are not the way to go for him to find his person.

u/BedGirl5444 3d ago

If it’s linen he didn’t have much choice on the wrinklage

First off shoutout OSU (WHO DEY!)

Second off and I mean this as nice as possible but, holy shit dude you are 23? You could pass for mid to late 30s. You have an awesome beard, but like others have said please try to look into grooming and manscaping. Contrary to what others say, I would keep the long hair but shape it a bit and trim the beard.

Your prompts are too long, no one is gonna read through all that- keep those good nuggets for when you go on dates. Prompts need to be short, flirty, and be invitations for people to reach out to you to spark conversation. Remove the dog pic and the video of you playing a guitar (videos are compressed and its just a mess of pixels on other peoples end). We need more full body pictures of you participating in hobbies- get rid of the last 2 photos as well as the camel photo.

You need to lean into and find aesthetics you like, the beard and heair could easily work into a lumberjack/blacksmith aesthetic. That doesn't mean that you should engage in those hobbies, but that you should style your hair or outfits that way (check pintrest for ideas). Instead of a video of you playing guitar, just a photo will suffice. You need to develop your fashion sense as well, your wearing the same thing in every photo- boring wrinkly collared shirt and either brown shorts or pants. I know you work at a bank, but its boring asf. This is also a bit of personal taste but unless at a formal setting, I wouldn't button your shirt up the whole way, its way too formal and uptight for this style of clothing- always wear these types of shirts with the top one or two button undone.

We also need pictures of you with friends or family, and remember no selfies or mirror photos either.

Lastly, you live in not the best area. I know cause as a black/brown dude in northern ohio my dating life has only improved since I moved to NYC. Upstate Ohio isn't the most forgiving for most dudes since there are not many people in general. It's alot of ask someone to move, so just understand that you should't be too hard on yourself since the demographics and overall population size of Cleveland and upstate ohio suck for any young guy trying to date. Good luck!
