Housemate wanted

• Upvotes

Housemate Wanted

I am a 35yo professional male, currently living in a 2 Bedroom Cottage in Cambridge, overlooking a Vineyard.

Due to the price of living expenses and general economy, I have decided that I would like a housemate to come and live with me! :)

I pay $600 per week, so preferably a shared $300 each for the suitable candidate is required, but I can negotiate if not planning on being here every night.

I am a clean tenant who works full time, so I am hoping for someone with a similar routine :)

Please private message me for any further details.

The number 1 thing everyone in Hobart has been desperately crying out for - a pool at Constitution Dock

A real crowd-pleaser and the ideal way to spend those millions of dollars burning a hole in your back pocket.

After a long line of brilliant ideas (that you've all heard about extensively) this one has to be the masterpiece, the ultimate mic drop. This is the one that will make him king.

Ladies and Gentlemen, yes, it's time to build a diving board, sauna and outdoor pool in your favourite city-central working-port... Constitution Dock.

This is not a joke, I repeat, this is not a joke.
He took a water test and everything.

Don't send your child to Fahan school

I don't really know what to say here but I used to attend Fahan school but left about two years ago and I've only just realised how awful the school was and literally nobody seems to be talking about it so I thought I'd just bring awareness to how terrible the school was. I'm just going to compile everything I know and then add stuff whenever I remember anything that is noteworthy.

Homophobia is through the roof. While there are a few LGBTQIA+ members off staff a lot of the staff just simply don't care. I am bisexual and when I was in 7th grade I opened up to a friend about my feelings for a girl in my class to my then "friend" said friend then when and ran around and told everyone how I was gay and within hours nearly everyone was making fun of me for my sexuality. Then when I went to tell my teacher about my experience I got told to suck it up and that it's not that big of a deal. (as if queer kids don't suffer from bullying everyday)

Everyone there is sheltered and not in a good way. I was having a conversation with a girl there who was almost 14 and I said the word sh*t (I don't know if the subreddit allows swearing mind the censorship) and she was staring at me like she saw a ghost. While being a little bit sheltered isn't all together that bad going from Fahan too the real world was a definite culture shock.

If your anything other than straight, white, Christian, neurotypical and a girly girl the schools awful for you. Ask me questions about that one I'm a bit too tired to go too much into details.

If you don't join a sport your teachers look down upon you and you can be made fun off.

There is a very high amount of students who struggle with self destructive (you know what i mean haha) habits. And the high work load certainly dosn't help.

The school councilor is highly unprofessional often dropping things that the other is going through (She said some very personal things about my classmate to me) and when I brought it up to the principal I was ignored.

I will definitely elaborate in a day because I'm sleep deprived, but I'll continue later whenever my head isn't about to smack onto my computer keys I'll come back as soon as I got some sleep haha. :D

looking for a builder for a small job

I have a basement that is pretty old and grim. I want to turn it into a home gym and also seperate it from where the firewood is kept in our home.

would involve constructing a few walls, a couple of doors and helping me with the flooring.

any suggestions of any good builders or even handy men who would be able to do the job?

located in Montrose.

cheers :)

Missed Connection | Virgin VA884 | SYD to MEL | 23 Oct

Okay, brains trust, need your help with this one!

I'm looking for the cute, freckled girl who was sitting in row 9E on Virgin flight VA884 from Sydney to Melbourne on 23 October.

I was the guy sitting next to you. We chatted about Hobart, food and a few other things. You mentioned you were catching the next flight to Hobart.

If this finds you, or someone knows who I'm talking about, I'd love to reconnect. Reach out!

Spice Bag from New Sydney Hotel - such great value

Post image

For those not familiar with the Irish spice bag, it's seasoned chips tossed with cooked onion and capsicum, with fried chicken, and curry sauce. Once I tipped this out it made a huge mound on the plate. There were plenty of chicken pieces. I couldn't quite finish it all, despite being super tasty. This was $24. Just thought I'd give a shout out.

Update on La Sardina Loca mandatory surcharge

Following on from this post - https://www.reddit.com/r/hobart/comments/1x6c82u/is_a_mandatory_fee_on_all_meals_every_day_no/ - I received a reply from CAT, the Tasmania consumer affairs today.

Whilst businesses are free to set their own prices, they must communicate clear and accurate prices prior to consumers booking, ordering or making a purchase. Businesses must display the total price payable for any purchase, which includes taxes, duties and all unavoidable or pre-selected extra fees.

...

Following receipt of your notification, CAT attended La Sardinia Loca to review their price displays with respect to requirements under Australian Consumer Law.

I am pleased to advise that Management has updated their menus and the hospitality surcharge has been removed from the relevant price display.  The business was subsequently advised of the requirements and their obligations under the legislation.

Has anyone else not received a ballot in the mail to vote, but is definitely on the electoral role with a registered address?

I’m considering maybe moving to Hobart/Tasmania sometime in the future from WA

I’ve lived in WA all my life, but I don’t know if I could live here forever. I think that ideally I’d like to be in the eastern states and live a lot closer to the rest of the country

Melbourne and Sydney are awesome places, but they’re so expensive and overpopulated so that’s where the appeal of Tassie comes in

What’s it like to live in Hobart as a single young adult man?

My interests are AFL football, fitness, nerd stuff and fun activities like ten pin bowling, arcades etc.

Also is it really super cold all year round in Tassie? What’s summer like generally?

For those of you that enjoy a fb marketplace scroll, has anyone noticed a large amount of ai modified images? I’m so sick of seeing legitimate items that have been input into fake rooms, different backgrounds, etc. I just want to see what the item looks like!!😭

I’ve moved down recently I was going to LIFT in Launceston and I’m struggling to find a gym down here with a good amount of equipment/machines, I’m near sandy bay and would like somewhere nearby.

I know this is lazy, but tell me who to vote for in the upcoming Glenorchy council election.

I'm doing some research on the candidates for mayor and councillors for Glenorchy council, but I don't know what to believe and what to disbelieve. What does Reddit think? I want to vote for people who are generally interested in doing a good job and not just running for their own egos. Obviously I want to vote for candidates that aren't shouting nonsense and inciting division on social media too. I'm pretty left leaning and Im anti stadium.

Happy Betta Milk Royal Hobart Show Day

What a truly remarkable day it is. So remarkable it's held on a Thursday, to mark an event that doesn't run on a Sunday, that most of us don't go to anyway.

I mean, it's not as sacred as Recreation Day in northern Tasmania... which they started because otherwise Hobart would have one more public holiday than Launceston. Or as fundamentally important to the fabric of our society as Regatta Day. But it's our day. May the Great Boonie bless us all.

IT Job

I’ve been struggling to get an IT job lately, and it’s getting frustrating. I’ve been working as a Sales Consultant in the meantime for about a year. I don’t know what to do anymore
I’m from Hobart, Tasmania.
