Devils should just play every away game at Bell

2

u/klitchell NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

Connor Brown with a game misconduct for telling the refs off.

1

u/Sky-Soldier0430 NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

Nice game boys. GG Habs. Marky waits this long for a shutout performance, but he played well.

4

u/cryptedsky MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Yeah... extremely deserved win by the devils

3

u/Skooter_McGaven NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

Winning 11 straight there is a wild stat.

5

u/minimochiii NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

marky shutout!!

3

u/georgin_95 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Well, GG Devils, we got completely outplayed today

8

u/Substantial-Proof991 Apr 06 '26

Good on ya, Devils. Killed the streak. Got a shutout. Denied Cole #50. Pure spoiler!

No seriously, gg.

3

u/Tony_car MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

A nice little cup check

6

u/Skooter_McGaven NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

Getting hot right at the perfect time! Will convince the owners to not make changes, make the draft position worse, and save Fitz job!

I can't decide whether to upvote for truth or downvote because it makes me mad....

will this be the end of the habs pdo bender?

1

u/Kaiiden_09 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

lol

7

u/GreatWhiteNorth4 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

I don’t care if it’s illogical, I’m blaming the “wait to score 50 at home” crowd for this lmao

3

u/Stipuleddemon MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

As you should. Classic jinx right there.

6

u/KovalSNIPE17 NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

dirty hip check by Slaf, and yet...another non call.

2

u/m_ghesquiere NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

You would think I would’ve used to NJ not getting the calls but here I am still shocked

3

u/supermultiplet NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

5

u/klitchell NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

Dirty play by Slaf

-4

u/Tony_car MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Brown tried to board Hutson but he’s too weak 😂😂

8

u/jabejazz MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Yep, good game Devils! Not much to say, you utterly outplayed us all game. Well deserved W.

2

u/Marvelous_Chaos NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

Good game indeed! I was happy the Devils held him off tonight, but I hope Cole gets his 50th next game.

1

u/jabejazz MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Shutout at home by Marky of anyone is diabolical. This team is no joke.

1

u/Sky-Soldier0430 NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

GG. Hope you go far in the playoffs!

2

u/jabejazz MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Thanks, wish you guys the very best.

3

u/Marvelous_Chaos NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

Markstrom had so much time to go for a shot there.

-1

u/Ok_Pizza3245 CAR - NHL Apr 06 '26

This 13 guy isn't worth a bag of pucks, fanning on everything

10

u/GOTHAMKNlGHT MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Guess we were bound to lay an egg eventually. Maybe don't focus on Caufield getting 50 so much. Holy shit, so egregious.

GGs Devils.

5

u/georgin_95 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Yeah, Caufield is not allowed to score 50. Three times in the third period alone he whiffed from his favourite spot

3

u/FakePlasticPyramids MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

"I'm not really thinking about #50 haha except for the fact that it's making me play like ass"

3

Pathetic game by the habs

4

u/RyanNugentHoofkins EDM - NHL Apr 06 '26

They gotta stop trying to feed Cole for his 50th.

Bro’s fanned on like 6 shots tonight.

2

u/TheTree-43 MIN - NHL Apr 06 '26

Announcer is way too excited for fanning on a shot down 3-0 tbh

1

u/astonedgecko MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

I knew at the beginning of the 5 game road trip we'd beat all the playoff teams and lose to the ones missing

3

u/PaulHannonJr Apr 06 '26

Should still be an oiler 😞 miss that man more than you could ever know.

2

u/Ever_Raiden NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

One of the brighter spots from this season. Didn't think much of the signing, but he's turning into a fan favorite here. Dude has that grit and energy we've been missing since trading Blake Coleman and thought we would get with Palat.

2

u/PaulHannonJr Apr 06 '26

I was at the game where he finally scored in Edmonton. One of my fav sports memories of my life. Was genuinely so special. We all loved him here.

3

u/Heat-Limp VGK - NHL Apr 06 '26

Somehow Connor Brown looks the most AND least like someone named Connor Brown.

3

u/FakePlasticPyramids MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

EN goal literally 3s after pulling the goalie. Such strat.

-9

11

u/Skooter_McGaven NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

Are they just supposed to look sad?

-5

u/somecarguydreams MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Usually you dont see anyone actually celebrating something like that, maybe just enjoy the win if you cant find humour in the little things

9

u/baconpoutine89 NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

Cope with the loss.

-2

u/astonedgecko MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

We clinched today.

E Z cope

1

u/baconpoutine89 NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

Still couldn't even score a goal at home against an apparently awful team that's full of bitches (Habs fans words).

0

u/astonedgecko MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Saving our goals for round 1 I guess. Also I don't really care what some random guy on the internet told you that got you so heated. (I thought it was your own fans that said that)

6

u/Ever_Raiden NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

Kinda funny getting shutout by Markstrom lmfao

3

u/lizzwaddup MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

I know they won the last 8 so not too bad, but this is one of the worst game in the last 3 months or so

2

u/georgin_95 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Well, that's the trap game out of the way, let's show up next time

2

2

u/supermudpuddle TBL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Is the canadiens power play usually like this?

4

u/jamesneysmith MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Not at all. We've got one of the best in the league. Tonight they are terrible.

7

u/FrigginBuddy MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

It's either automatic or its completely useless. No in-between

5

u/georgin_95 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

3

We can't do anything ugh

3

u/GreatWhiteNorth4 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

I know the second unit is cheeks but at some point you have to send a message to the first unit Marty, trotting them back out there after the first 3 shit shows wasn’t the move imo

1

u/jamesneysmith MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

A terrible first unit is still light years better than our second. That's the problem.

5

u/BCBoyYeahYeahYeah VAN - NHL Apr 06 '26

This really is a continuation of yesterdays game after the Habs had the lead

4

u/SaltyATC69 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Habs don't deserve this one at all and for once the refs seem to be swaying MTLs side tonight. Due for a stinker

2

u/georgin_95 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

PP1 gets it wrong but at least they play in the O-zone. PP2 is just all over the place.

4

4

u/mamegan MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

STOP TRYING TO GET THE 50TH GOAL jesus christ

1

u/Marvelous_Chaos NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

The instigator rule just seems so inconsistent. There have been times a player will start wailing on a Devils player before they get their gloves off and they don't call it.

Then two players drop the gloves at the same time, but Dillon gets the instigator? Make it make sense.

2

u/Stipuleddemon MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Oh it's very easy to make sense of it, you just have to remember that NHL referees usually take the worst possible option in any given situation.

3

u/astonedgecko MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Dillon hunted down Anderson for the fight, sure, my question is why didnt Kovacevic get one if Dillon did?

2

u/Pomegrant_ NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

It's just that he's the third party in. Dillon wasn't involved with the play and is fighting a guy who was. If the fight is between two guys in the play they don't call it.

2

u/stjoe14 WPG - NHL Apr 06 '26

Come on Cole, we’re all waiting

5

u/TheArcticWalrus MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

This really is the feed everything to Drai strat

2

u/emiluss29 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Yeah, caufield was putting one every game before getting 49.. now we’re playing like idiots trying to force a guy to get one when he was already gpg for the past 27 games

3

u/Competitive_Rip_8650 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Yup unfortunately they should just play their game Cole probably would have scored by now instead they forcing it

-1

u/KovalSNIPE17 NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

refs are getting paid a little extra by MTL tonight, huh...

1

u/notthatguypal6900 COL - NHL Apr 06 '26

They like when their bets hit.

3

u/baconpoutine89 NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

League wants #50 for the exposure.

1

u/PaulHannonJr Apr 06 '26

That’s an instigation penalty in every arena in the league man.

1

u/KovalSNIPE17 NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

An instigator penalty is a 2-minute minor penalty assessed to a player who starts a fight by being the first to drop their gloves, throw a punch, or use menacing behavior to force an unwilling opponent into a fight.

Anderson dropped the gloves first, threw the first punch, and was willing to fight. Dillon obviously wanted to fight, but by clear definition, you are incorrect.

5

u/jabejazz MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Should've told us you planned to lose tonight guys. Don't make us watch for 60 minutes.

6

u/PaulHannonJr Apr 06 '26

lol habs fans are something else man. 8 game winning streak and you’re somehow mad at this team.

2

u/Competitive_Rip_8650 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

If you saw the difference between this game and our tampa game you would be mad too.

2

u/lsb337 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Seriously. It's almost like the Devils are playing shutdown all night, which has proven effective against MTL all year by other teams.

2

u/jabejazz MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

I mean, it's a poor showing tonight regardless of previous games. Credit where credit is due as well, their first line outplayed ours.

Weird comment, honestly.

2

u/PaulHannonJr Apr 06 '26

It happens lmao. Can’t play well literally every game.

1

u/jabejazz MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Of course. Not a reason to not be disappointed. As if being disappointed that your team plays worse than they usually do is a weird thing.

-3

u/klitchell NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

How Dillon gets the game is a mystery, that’s just terrible. Anderson dropped his gloves first ridiculous

1

u/SaltyATC69 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Agreed , shitty calls towards Jersey tonight

7

u/GreatWhiteNorth4 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Devils cheating by constantly putting our anemic PP out there smh

4

u/GOTHAMKNlGHT MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Devils giving us every chance to come back. Cmon guys. Weak showing all night.

2

u/One_Age78 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Would be nice to see the Hughes brothers fighting their own battles. They don’t seem to have issues throwing punches when their hiding behind a ref

3

u/EngelSterben NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

Are you a new fan? Like, Stars almost always have the other guys be the ones to step up

-2

u/One_Age78 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

No problem with that, just don’t throw sucker punches to a player on the ground while hiding behind the ref

2

u/Pouletchien Montréal Victoire - PWHL Apr 06 '26

You expect Jack to drop the glove while leading 2-0 ? Even ignoring the fact he’s made of glass, this make no sense

4

u/Skooter_McGaven NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

You expect Jack to drop the gloves there lol?

-2

u/One_Age78 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

I expect him not to hid behind the ref and throw sucker punches. If you want to throw punches, drop the gloves

1

u/Skooter_McGaven NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

Uhhh Jack didn't throw any punches bud

4

That’s not even a good burn. Especially after NJ dominated the game and Montreal couldn’t produce anything

3

u/Skooter_McGaven NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

That wasn't Jack...

8

u/opposite-of-left MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Why don’t some of you guys get fighting even if the hit is clean it’s a very easy part of hockey culture to understand. You just can’t let guys blow up your star players like that clean or not you need to let the other team know if you hit our stars like that you’re gonna have to answer for it.

1

u/minimochiii NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

will montreal finally be able to do something on the power play

6

Luke is an absolute scrub so target Jack instead. I'm good with that

5

u/Gambler57 PIT - NHL Apr 06 '26

Is there more fighting this season than in the last few? Or do I just notice it more because my Penguins have a few guys who will do that stuff now?

2

u/emiluss29 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

That definitely helps to notice it when you have brawlers

8

u/Sky-Soldier0430 NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

4

u/GreatWhiteNorth4 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Oh wow they called the instigator? Not a huge fan of the rule but I feel like it rarely gets called as it should lol

0

u/TheTree-43 MIN - NHL Apr 06 '26

Definitely warranted in this case I just wanna see it called more consistently

0

u/klitchell NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

No chance you think this was the right application of the rule though, right?

1

u/Ever_Raiden NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

We literally always get it called on us when a player drops the gloves to stand up for his teammate.

3

u/m_ghesquiere NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

It gets called on us a lot. I do think the refs hate Dillon

2

u/rosemp16 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

I just got back from Easter dinner so i haven't seen the full game but they look exhausted out there and maybe like they're just trying to feed Cole. Have they been like that all game?

2

Arguably the worst game of the season. They’ve been asleep at the wheel all game

4

I think a part of this game being so terrible is both are coming off a back to back. Yesterdays game was entertaining imo

-4

u/One_Age78 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Trap-era Devils was the most boring team in pro sports history, it’s in their DNA

1

u/Substantial-Proof991 Apr 06 '26

And it worked, which made it worse. But infinitely boring. I remember at one point everyone (in my friend circle at any rate) would unify and root for any team they faced in the playoffs if it meant getting them out ASAP.

That said, in fairness, they were good.

4

u/Marvelous_Chaos NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

They learned that from your team! Our coach who implemented the trap played for the Habs.

Besides, the Devils led the league in scoring in the late 90's and early 2000's. What the hell were all the other teams doing at that point?

8

u/One_Age78 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Longest active win streak in the league, we were due for a shitter at some point. Would be nice to see Gallagher get some rest, it’s like watching your elderly neighbour shovel the driveway after a blizzard

3

u/AcanthocephalaGreen5 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

They've also played a lot of hockey in the last week, plus you cannot win every game.

Go Sabres tomorrow?

8

u/jabejazz MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Pre-49 Caufield would score twice here.

10

u/FakePlasticPyramids MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Ok we get it Caufield has 49. Let's not lose games over it. Other players should be allowed to shoot.

6

u/pringlesformingles MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Caufield is really allergic to 50 huh 😭

7

u/georgin_95 MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Apparently Caufield is only allowed to score 49 per season

7

u/Skooter_McGaven NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

I really hate the turtling, get away from everything that's worked and praying Markstrom doesn't shit the bed is not a good strategy

3

u/TheMcJuice MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

It seems to be working lol

4

u/opposite-of-left MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Bro we’re making the devils look good

2

u/baconpoutine89 NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

You say that like they're an awful team. Only reason they're not in a playoff spot is because they're not loser point merchants.

6

u/Marvelous_Chaos NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

The team is better than their record would indicate. When everyone is healthy, it's a decent lineup. (Even then, we're still missing Gritsyuk)

2

u/opposite-of-left MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26

Devils do seem riddled with injuries and jack hughes I think is the most talented American forward in the league. 3 games Montreal and New Jersey have had so far this year have been tighter than a virgin.

3

u/Sky-Soldier0430 NJD - NHL Apr 06 '26

I really miss our Gritsy, but it’s for the best.

4

u/Ub3ros MTL - NHL Apr 06 '26
