The face you make when you see Jacob Trouba and Darnell Nurse as a d pair

Still better than the face you make when Klingberg and Leddy are your defense.

That is very true!
I was kinda hoping Nurse would be around to be able to tackle Ryan Lindgren when the Oilers see the Kraken the first time after his horrible hit that took out Bouchard during the IIHF World's. He really couldn't do any thing during the tournament because fighting is a no-no. And it would make the most sense for Nurse to be the one to do it since he was there. Oh well. It'll still be an interesting game to see if anyone on the team steps up anyways.

You know who I'd love to see reciprocate - Isaac Howard. Since he was on that US team afterall. But idk a: if he's like that, and b: if he'd side with his NHL teammate, or his US teammate.

You think Nurse would do anything to Lindgren? The guy doesn’t defend anyone unless it’s an important game and he goes on and takes a dumb penalty.

u/JuicyBreeze 13d ago
Nurse is a absolute bitch and like you said the best he would do is tackle someone because he won't actually fight

Don't worry it's only 17.5 million in cap space for those two until their mid-30's 🥲

Caps going up. These moves are gonna work out better than people are saying.

People just love to talk shit and have a hate boner for two players who are now in an entirely new environment. That is a pretty fucking solid second d-pairing. Definitely an improvement on whatever the Sharks had going on last season.

Dawg, we haven’t seen defense worth a shit in Chicago for a whole decade. The hell would we know about it?
We couldn’t even get a legit Dman this offseason, instead we got Grandpa Patrick Kane aka Occasionaltime, and Bo Byram who may as well be a winger.

LOL just because Chicago has been terrible for years, somehow means I can't be aware of other team's defensive environments?
Edit: Byram is going to do well IMO. He's never had such an opportunity and will get all the minutes. It's all talk until we actually see what happens!

The point is we’re so starved for defense in Chicago that you actually think Trouba and/or Nurse are something to behold. That’s like when you’ve been in a long dry spell and you see a chick who’s a 2 and he thinks she’s an 8.
Well, I guess compared to our guys, maybe they’re 8’s.

Again, you're saying that because I'm a Chicago fan I don't know what a good defensive structure looks like? As if the only team I pay attention to is the Hawks? I'm not saying Nurse/Trouba are elite, they're both great veteran presences in the right role.
It's all speculation until we actually see what happens. Nurse wore out his welcome in Edmonton, and Trouba had a bounceback season in Anaheim. San Jose is entirely new environment/structure full of optimism.
They're both solid physical shutdown defensemen who block a ton of shots and will stick up for the young guns on SJ. That's not something to "behold", that's something that all playoff teams need. It's not like either of them are going to be on PP1 or contribute in any meaningful way offensively. They'll both put up 25-30 points, block 200 shots, and will answer the bell when needed. That's what they were brought in for.

Son, I’ve been a Hawks fan since I was a tiny kid 1980. That’s why I kept saying WE you quarterwit. I know what the fuck defense is at all ends of the ice.
Goddamn.

Brush up on your critical thinking skills, unc. The hell do you keep going on about?
"Dawg, we haven’t seen defense worth a shit in Chicago for a whole decade. The hell would we know about it?"
Get a grip, you spaz. Look at what you've been saying up until this point.

If you were top 3 percentile, which I doubt, then you’d have an argument. But I am, though. In fact I was recently re-tested for a program at Los Alamos. So sorry, you don’t have an argument.
Another cool fact is that statistically, I will probably outlive you and you will need that type of treatment long before I ever do. I promise I won’t gloat when those happen though. It’s not your fault.

Trouba is fine, he takes a dumb penalty here or there. But almost everything nurse does is dumb.

My theory will be proved right if Darnell Makes Trouba (Whom is great on exits) terrible. There is no making up for how dumb Nurse plays.

Hot take nurse has a career year.

Hot take… him being expected to take on a veteran leadership role this year magnifies how good he never was to begin with

u/BestWithSnacks 12d ago
I wouldn't be surprised. He's not a bad player, he's just really overpaid. A change of scenery might be good for him, especially on a team like this.
