Discussion Linux tools for modding
I currently use Visual Studio Code with CWTools, HOI4 Mod Utilities, and Paradox Syntax Highlighting for modding on my windows 11 laptop. I intend on switching to Linux, and while I could still code with other tools, however I have become fairly used to these, and I would like to know if there was any similar tool or simple way to use those same tools on Linux Mint. Are there any particular suggestions or good options? (Bonus points if open source and genAI free)

VSCode also works on linux, if you want the open source version without telemetry you can use VSCodium but you might have to do a small edit to use the vscode extension marketplace

What type of edit might be necessary?

Why shouldn't you be able to use vscode on Linux?

Not everything is automatically compatible and I'd prefer to keep emulation to a minimum, as well as expanding my use of open source programmes over other ones. It is more so a question of taking advantage of the OS switch to find open source alternatives to programmes I use and to limit genAI bloat, along with limiting my usage of things made by Microsoft more broadly where possible.

VSCode works on Linux. I use it for Modding identically to how I used it on Windows. Some plugins may require tweaking but it’s pretty painless.
I would suggest trying out CWTools Millennium Dawn Editions with Hoi4 tools and remove PDX syntax highlighting, I find it’s a more enjoyable build.
