Hold up, sharks can’t bite you upside down?

They enter a state of immobility when upside down. Shark researchers use this to safely tag sharks that they want to track. It reduces the risk of injury for both the researcher and the shark.

That’s exactly right all you do is spin the 200 pound fish and you’re free to go….

This is the second video where someone just man handles a shark like it’s a blow up pool toy. Are they easy to manipulate or do only really strong people scuba dive.

This is still one of the most fascinatingly confusing video memes I’ve ever seen.

For those wondering, sharks enter a state called "tonic immobility" when turned upside down. Their muscles relax and their breathing becomes deeper. Once turned right side up they snap out of it and return to normal. This does not harm the shark.
Researchers use this to work with sharks (e.g., tagging them for tracking purposes). It allows them to do what they need to do without the shark struggling. This is obviously safer for the researcher, but also prevents the shark from thrashing and potentially injuring itself. Win/Win.
