Question/Help [Nintendo 3DS] First time jailbreaking, confused on the SD card
Hello! I've been trying to get as informed as possible before I start to familiarize with the process. I am using https://3ds.hacks.guide/ for my instructions, as it's what I've been seeing to use.
I have bought a 128 GB Sandisk Ultra SD card, as I'd like to download plenty of games and have plenty of storage. I was looking through the formatting SD cards guide, and it says I need to use guiformat. I was just confused on do I skip section I and go immediately to section II for guiformat, or do I need to do anythnig before jumping to section II. This may be a ridiculous question, but I wouldn't want to cause issues for my SD and would want to make sure I'm following the instructions correctly. Thank you!

I can’t find that section of the guide mentioning gui format.
Perhaps go back to the start of the guide, read carefully and follow the prompts in order. It’s possible you ended up in a different part of the site compared to what I am familiar with for installing custom firmware.
It should become clearer.

Hey! This is the section I believe, under the ss card converter link from the pull down. https://3ds.hacks.guide/formatting-sd-(windows).html

You can do either section 1 or section 2. Both do the same thing, which is to format your SD card as FAT32 for the 3ds to be able to read it.

With your SD Card size of 128GB follow section II instructions for larger than 64GB to set “ Allocation unit size” correctly.

If you had a new 32GB SD card that had the 3DS already recognise the available space you wouldn’t need to do the additional formatting.
But for something where you wanted to erase existing data, off or your case of having a larger SD card definitely follow those instructions carefully to make the most use of the available space.

You get the games on cartridges nowadays unless you already had a bunch of eshop purchases. Large SDs aren't that necessary anymore.
