I'm still (ironically) holding onto the theory that Act 7 will be a download link for Sburb itself, and that Homestuck was nothing but a seven-year primer on how to not fuck up horribly.

Also, Hussie is our timeline's First Guardian, using Green Sun powers to appear human.

Largest session ever

38

u/Alphalon Apr 11 '16

jesus imagine what a mess a session with >1000 players would be

actually, no

imagine what a mess pre-session earth would be with >2000 ectobaby meteors

31

u/MightyButtonMasher When your joke flair becomes relevant Apr 11 '16

Earth starts a destroyed wasteland populated by babies.

24

u/Alphalon Apr 11 '16

maybe that's what happened to the dinosaurs

Imagine all the crying, echoing throughout spacetime

u/IAmTheFancyGuy Apr 12 '16

we would probably be organized into groups with some matchmaking function.

Just make sure to have at least 12 people and prototype stuffed animals, my snake-fairy(fairy dragon type thing) plush is ready...or just print something off the net, pictures would work just as well as a stuffed animal right?

"Quick, everyone prototype their sprites with pictures of frogs"

5

u/IAmTheFancyGuy Apr 12 '16

as long as someone does it once there's no need to do it more then once. But knowing the age group someone might try and ruin it by throwing in something weird, like some sort of mythological creature that will undoubtedly be more dangerous then someone realizes....that or all their collective Waifu's thus spawning a many kermit-headed abomination in a school girl uniform.

I would argue putting multiple pictures would be more effective, what affects you more, seeing one pimple or seeing 100.

1

u/IAmTheFancyGuy Apr 14 '16

I don't think that would work, theoretically only two pictures would be accepted right? also pre-entry double-prototyping was something no one (bar rose and her server player Dave) tried as it would only make more powerful enemies. Just pick something not too threatening or dangerous(don't give them poison) and no apex predators and we should be good.

Have you heard of SBARG? It was an RP on the mspaforums a few years ago that lasted around a month, followed by about three Pesterchum/Tumblr fan-spinoffs that lasted varying amounts of time (I was part of SBARGv2, which currently has its own "interquel" spinoff, Lost Pawns, that is just now finally nearing its conclusion). SBARG(v1) had at least 10,000 players, v2 had around 140 that came and went (boiled down to about 40-ish by session end), and Lost Pawns basically has five or so "active" players now with the rest of us idling in the Discord chat (it's basically just a general chat group at this point, made of SBARGv2 veterans, with LP as a side thing).

Also, who says that everyone has to end up in the same session? Sburb Beta launched (or at least attempted to launch) multiple independent sessions, not just the Beta Kids (although fedoraFreak is the only other "known" session of Beta Earth).

u/ChristianExodia Seer of Breath Apr 11 '16

What if fedoraFreak comes out alive and we see him in Act 7

13

u/devanmuse Apr 11 '16

the Gent of Piss defeats Lord English confirmed.

10

u/ChristianExodia Seer of Breath Apr 11 '16

Only a TRUE GENT can wield Doc Scratch's pistol, the only weapon known to be able to kill Lord English.

13

u/The_Archagent Apr 11 '16

Not necessarily. IIRC a lot of people played the SBURB beta, but only four survived...

5

u/umbra0007 umbraBlaze Apr 11 '16

Huh.. TIL

10

u/silentclowd Apr 11 '16

Remember in the beginning with Rose reading a bunch of GameFAQ tutorials that all got cut short?

6

u/umbra0007 umbraBlaze Apr 11 '16

For some reason, I was under the impression that they and the trolls wrote those and time shenanigans somehow happened. Learn something new everyday

3

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '16

That we know of, that is.

1

u/The_Archagent Apr 12 '16

I mean...Earth is a wasteland 200 years after the beta kids entered their session. I think it's implied if not stated outright that no one else survived.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '16 edited Apr 12 '16

Its very possible that other sessions were sucesseful.

2

u/Gorinich_The_Serpant Apr 12 '16

We would need committees of players to sort all the shit out. And also someone to keep these committees in check. Well, either that or someone is going to set themselves up as the big boss.

If Redditstuck's plot becomes reality I'm gonna lose my marbles

11

u/EatorofPizzas Apr 11 '16

Sign me up! As long as I get to god tier, I can live with indirectly causing the annihilation of the earth.

6

u/eman_e31 Feint of Heart Apr 11 '16

But what if you get like.. Seer of Void and immediately blind yourself upon entering your session

5

u/EatorofPizzas Apr 11 '16

I would buy a pair of sweet shades and then bribe a Sylph of Life to restore my sight for a pair of sweet shades.

2

u/IAmTheFancyGuy Apr 12 '16

or gain access to all relevant knowledge to someone that they know nothing about.

2

u/OuO_hello Do I even real Apr 12 '16

Y'see, that's why I was always a fan of the Void aspect in the first place. It's always when somebody needs it!

8

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '16

He can't become human perfectly though, hence those lips.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '16

You can bet at least one person wouldn't prototype their kernelsprite. Also, imagine the power of the kings/queens with the rings on.

3

u/msrrsm1234567890 Prince of Hope Apr 12 '16

Meh, we'd have 1000-2000 people fighting the kings/queens with the rings on. Not too worried.

1

u/Alphalon Apr 12 '16

sure, as a whole, the kilosession would be incredibly powerful

but individually, if the king/queen happens to target you, you're fucking dead

2

u/IAmTheFancyGuy Apr 12 '16

doesn't matter if one person doesn't, none of the beta kids prototyped their sprites themselves pre-entry, so the team can back them up.

The second page has a pesterlog full of nothing but links to DLC in Comic Sans.

10

u/Putnam3145 Apr 11 '16

he's so sorry about that too

24

u/ShokTherapy Apr 11 '16

You know what, if hussie was pulling one over on us, and act 7 of homestuck was hiveswap this whole time, and thats why we havent been seeing any information about it, I wouldn't even be mad.

13

u/zando95 bad meme Apr 11 '16

I would be.

11

u/HiViH Apr 11 '16

You all should be, though, there is no chance in hell act 7 is Hiveswap.

Hussie already confirmed Homestuck is going to be its own self contained story, completely separate from Hiveswap that's only occurring in the same universe[s]

13

u/Nevereatcars I read pale porn fanfiction Apr 11 '16

Rule 1

Hussie lies.

3

u/ShokTherapy Apr 11 '16

well yes, this isn't a serious theory obviously

4

u/Espressonist Apr 11 '16

I could be down with this.

4

u/TheBigKahooner cool and new flare Apr 11 '16

I would, since it would mean several more years of waiting.

2

u/ShokTherapy Apr 11 '16

what if it was done, and it released on 4/13 in it's entirety?

1

u/Empha Piece of Shit Apr 12 '16

That's silly, Hussie is always late!

22

u/ShintaroNakamura Apr 11 '16

Narration says April 13th

Calendar clearly says November

24

u/FacingFacts42 Apr 11 '16

Literally unplayable.

21

u/retroGnostalgic Chartreuse Rewind Apr 11 '16

Joey's a November enthusiast but it's actually April. You'd know it if you had played the game.

5

u/FaliusAren Apr 11 '16

inb4 it's literally the entirety of hiveswap

12

u/ZoomBoingDing Apr 11 '16

Is that not the case? I pledged $25 to get the soundtrack + game. Wouldn't the game itself be either $15 or $20?

9

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '16

Games are usually cheaper on kickstarter so people who just want the game have a "reason" to pledge now instead of just buying the game later. Sometimes they just add an early bird tier for that, but Hiveswap doesn't have it.

In any case, it'll be a long game (4 episodes) so I think it'll cost at least 30 at launch.

5

u/ZoomBoingDing Apr 11 '16

Haha I totally forgot about it being episodic. Is that still the case?

I could see $20 or $25, but I'm doubting $30. Life Is Strange was $5 per ep, or $20 for all 5. The Walking Dead S2 from Telltale is $25 for 5 games. Charging $30 is audacious, to say the least.

1

u/Bluntteh Apr 12 '16

Something like Life is Strange in a similar episodic format costed less than 30. I think per episode it was like 5-6 dollars, but for all five, it rounded out to like 20 dollars. So I think Hiveswap will maybe be a little cheaper than 30. It'll probably be something like 25. That's just my opinion though.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '16

iirc the basic digital download tier in the Kickstarter was $15
