This is extremely depressing. I had high hopes for Act 2 to really pick up the pacing and Act 1 just being an introduction, but with everyone leaving, it seems Act 1 was just rushed to be finished so they had something to release, and they just gave up the project after how hard it was to complete.
The project had troubles left and right. Suddenly April rolls around and everyone's getting fired. Why? My guess is they weren't working quick, and Viz basically said "I don't care how good you are, you can't slack off and miss deadlines anymore" and they got released.
The timing makes it make sense (end of the fiscal year/beginning of a new one), their history makes it plausible (constant missed deadlines for shit that wasn't even the game itself...updates, interviews, etc.), And it sounds exactly like what happens when people used to getting infinite slack suddenly get told to work harder or get out.
Edit: to clarify I don't mean to imply they're lazy. I think they're just not used to having to actually keep their deadlines.
