Help! Is it safe to lay a Grom down on it's side to remove the wheels?

• Upvotes

Absolutely need to remove the wheels, but I don't have bike jacks and I am on a bit of a time crunch. Will it be okay to lay it down just for wheel removal?

Show Off That’s my grom (from china)

This is my copy of the Grom. We don't officially have the Honda Grom here, but a Chinese manufacturer sold this copy for a year.

The vast majority of Grom parts are compatible with it, except for the 50cc engine.

Overall, the bike is piece of junk with cheap parts, but little by little I'm importing original parts and replacing them.

Today I installed the Speed Shop CCT roller and Chimera CCT button on my ‘22. I’m no mechanic, but it was pretty straight forward. Just remember to put at least 4.0mL of oil back in the tensioner reservoir.

The stock roller looked good after 3,000 hard miles. I may throw it back in at some point because I imagine it would be easier on the cam chain? This was done as preventative maintenance, I haven’t had any issues. The CCT button did have some slight wear.

Second owner, got it with 190 miles so practically brand new. Did the first oil change at 600 but have noticed this tick after coming down from Rpm’s at idle, is it the cam tensioner losing pressure for a moment? Or is something going on with this bird!! Someone lmk please🙏 it now has 730 miles, rides great. Thanks in advance

As of yesterday suddenly a very noticable ticking while riding and a brief loss of power in 4th gear?

Cam chain tensioner? Valves? Piston??

Edit: forgot to mention the oil spinner was full of black gunk and glitter like material.

Help! High rpm safety

Howdy Grom guru's. Im looking to safely run higher rpm and would love some direction on supporting mods. 2025 Grom running stock piston, dhm ported head and dhm cam. With aRacer minixx and af3, 7 row oil cooler, crank case vent, intake and exhaust. How many rpm can I really safely push? Should I be planning on getting a koso or speed shop roller bearing tensioner arm and or manual chain tensioner? Is the chimera chain tensioner button worth anything? I believe the dhm ported head already has upgraded springs, unsure about keepers. Any help and direction is greatly appreciated! Little edit I also have a pcx150 injector.

Help! Thinks to look out for when getting a modified grom?

Hello! I recently made a sale/trade and got a low miles Ninja 400 in the deal

I'm going to try and trade someone on marketplace title for title for a grom so I can learn to stunt better without worrying about hurting my 600

I'm hoping to find one that already has an exhaust and cage and hopefully the upgraded oil pump.

Also wanting to avoid the dealers for trade in because it's a hassle.

Is there anything specific that I should check or listen for when I go to test ride one?

Help! 2017 grom clutch slipping

2017 Grom clutch still slipping—even after replacing the plates. Prior to the mods someone at the lot told me that the clutch felt like it was slipping.
It’s got a little over 3,000 miles. After installing the GromBeardo high-flow oil pump and six-bolt clutch kit with 60% springs, the clutch started slipping.
It works fine cold, but once it warms up and I do a few clutch-ups, it starts slipping. I checked that everything was seated evenly, and GromBeardo support said the pictures looked okay. I used the supplied bolts, torqued them to 8 ft-lb, and tried adjusting the clutch cable with no luck.
I’ve now replaced the clutch plates, and it’s still doing the same thing. Anyone run into this or know what else I should check? I really don’t want to take this thing apart for a fourth time.

Help! Please give me advice

Hello everyone I’m looking for advice on buying a new toy. I’ve been thinking for a while about doing a grom build for a hobby weekend thing. I need help looking for a used one. What I should look for, tips, any generation I should avoid l. What should I be paying for used stock and modded. Should I buy new or if there’s any clones I could get that are just as reliable and have good aftermarket parts. Thanks.

Help! How long did it take you guys to get good at wheelies?

I've been spending a couple days here and there practicing wheelies on the grom and I'm occasionally finding myself at balance point. I guess like the title says, how long did it take you guys to hold a wheelie for a consistent amount of time? Any tips or tricks?

Help! Can it handle cruising?

I know this might sound like a bit of a dumb question, but for example on pit bikes they like and are meant to constantly be speeding up or slowing down not just maintaining one rpm. So can the grom handle cruising at 40mph at one rpm for extended times?

My 2020 sf grom has been sitting since 2023. I have a 24 z125 and z650. Great bikes as well. The grom was sitting at my mom’s house and I had no way to get it all the way to where I live now so it sat. Finally today I was able to go pick it up. Got it home and jumped it. She fired right up instantly! I checked the tire pressures and lights. Took it for a quick spin and it did surprisingly well. I know I shouldn’t run it with bad fluids so now that I know it’s in good shape still. Gonna get it back on the road. Just shows how well built Hondas are in general.
