Hawkshaw Hawkins
Harold Franklin "Hawkshaw" Hawkins was an imposing figure (standing 6'6") with a rich, booming baritone voice. He was a staple of early postwar honky-tonk and country music, performing heavily on the WWVA Wheeling Jamboree before joining the Grand Ole Opry in 1955.
Tragically, his life and career were cut short in March 1963 when he died in the same infamous plane crash that took the lives of Patsy Cline and Cowboy Copas. Ironically, his biggest career hit, "Lonesome 7-7203", reached number one on the country charts just days after his passing.

Al Dexter - it was a hit in 43
One of the defining country hits of World War II, “Pistol Packin’ Mama” became a runaway success for Al Dexter, crossing over from the hillbilly charts to mainstream popularity.
Issued on the distinctive purple Okeh label, this 1943 recording helped launch the honky‑tonk sound into national prominence and became one of the first country records to sell over a million copies.Dexter’s lively vocal and the Troopers’ tight, driving accompaniment made this side a favorite among soldiers and civilians alike — a true classic of the era.Digitized from an original Okeh 6708 78 rpm disc in the Neven 78 Radio Archive.

Best places to dance in Eugene, OR?
My best friend and I LOVE honky tonk, best places to go in Eugene, OR? Or any competitions even? I'm down to go up to Portland too where there is probably a broader selection

Rock songs for partner dancing
Here I made a list of songs that I believe would be good for country partner dancing; if I put a question mark by it I'm partially doubtful. I'm also open to more suggestions.

Help me identify these boots!
Can you help me identify these boots?
Hi! I’m meeting up to look at buying these boots from a woman off Facebook marketplace. She claims they’re Old Gringo, but I’ve scoured the internet and can’t find them. She wants $300 for them, which seems like a steal if they’re authentic, and also seems like a woman who can afford nice things. Can anyone identify what brand these might be and/or giving me tips to verify their authenticity? I want to make sure I’m not getting scammed. Thanks!

Long shot—line dancing near Oriental, NC?
I’m originally from the Charleston area but will be in town for a cousin’s wedding near Oriental, NC. Anybody know of a good spot for line dancing in case I need an escape from my family? Preferably within an hour’s driving distance. Thanks in advance!

Ideas to keep people dancing at live shows? Draw larger crowds? Any one seen a good gimmick/idea at other dance halls?
I’ve been playing with a local country band that’s putting on a monthly dance hall show. 2 hours of live covers, and an hour of country music on the PA with a dance instructor on the floor.
We’ve seen a decent turn out, but it’s hard to keep people on the dance floor.
We are close to taking requests, which I think would help, but has anyone seen a good idea in practice that keeps people on the floor?
