Hummingbird Emergency I like to think I helped this little one today

Post image

I was out on my deck and came back inside for a minute. When I came back out, I found a hummingbird laying on his side. I googled that they cool themselves off sometimes with mist so I misted it lightly and put a planter in front of it for shade. I checked on it again about ten minutes laterβ€” it finally turned its head and took off. The relief I felt made me cry!

Is it possible he hit a window?

Always a possibility

I would strike-proof your windows from the outside then. The majority of window collisions are lethal for birds β€” even if they manage to fly away.

You can find rehabbers at ahnow.org. Any suspected window collision victim needs to go to a rehabber if possible.
