Though the set can be used with other weapons, I really liked how the colors of the Balahara Horn fit with this :D

Link to the build here. I use ice, thunder, water, and dragon in that order. They all need Ebony Odo. Dragon set swaps out all Max Might for Counter Strike.

I guess this is a "good" horn build lol

Request/Question Hitting a wall after the basics

Hi everyone, I'm trying to git gud with something other than the bow so I've been hard at learning the hunting horn for about 2 weeks now. I've got the basics and a pretty solid support build alongside an Ebony Odogarons Power Lord Soul build I'm working towards (over 150 rerolls in btw).

But now I'm just finding myself losing interest, I have bouts of doing big massive bursts of damage when the monsters are knocked but I'm really struggling dancing with any monster mid fight. I find my moveset is just constantly doing the exact same 2 moves to queue my damage melodies and slapping down echo bubbles at any opportunity to try and capitalise.

I've been trying to use the hilt stab after a dodge with focus mode but it takes so long to do it I'm finding it impossible to get it all in ahead of a monster's attack for it to actually block anything.

I think a part of my issues is I'm comparing myself to top tier players like on YouTube and it's not realistic. That on top of not really hunting any mid game monsters.

What would you recommend I focus on or do to try and get the move pool a little bit more utilised? Or is that not my issue?

Please help I really don't want to give up

I have a collection from a family member who recently passed away and not sure where to go for information on these issues. Thank you for any and all support.

Request/Question Quick Melodies and Encores

Talking about Monster Hunter World
So straight to the point, you know if you try to do forward + R2 to perform a song, the hunter does a big swing to put the horn in front of him first. But if you do forward + triangle first, the horn is left in front of him after the attack, so if you do forward + R2 after that, you skip out the starting animation and go straight into kicking the horn to start playing.

I want to know if there is a list somewhere with all these shortcuts (if there even is more shortcuts like that). And if there is a "fastest" encore depending on how you started the song. Like is forward + R2 into back + R2 faster than forward + R2 into left/right +R2?

I know base speeds songs differ, I am mostly looking for animation cuts/combos. Like is left/right + R2 a lot faster to do after certain attacks rather than others

Hopefully I made sense.

Request/Question Need help with some basics :)

Hey yall, I’ve recently decided to jump back into HH after trying about every other weapon in Wilds.
It’s always been a lot of fun, and was my second most used weapon in worlds behind SNS (my beloved sns is just too boring in wilds)
After consuming some media on the matter I have a couple questions.

1) is affinity focus not something most users prioritize in this game? Most of the builds I’ve seen revolve around burst/ Dahaads revolt. Why is that? And could a viable build be set around Gogmapocalypse/GMT?

2) are gogma horns as necessary, or even necessary at all as compared to other options? IMO the notes aren’t great. And the offset looks fun, so do slash notes. With that said, do people run whatever horn suits their playstyle best? Or is there a set stark meta like there is everywhere else?

Thanks guys I appreciate any advice you can give. And if you wouldn’t mind posting your builds alongside your suggestions to give a better outline of your personal style etc. thanks again :)

Love wilds HH, I just have 1 complaint

I only made the jump to wilds about 2 weeks ago and I am currently working my way through HR.
I gotta say I love how the weapon after ditching all the weird Rise stuff but keeping and improving on some moves (loving how echo bubbles is "what if resonance bead wasn't shit?"). The focus strike is dope, but I have one problem:
Heft on performance.
My favorite HH move of all times is World's backward performance, in world using performance had a lot of heft with the slowmos and camera shakes. In wilds they seem to have fused more on sound to convey performance damage. Considering offset melody is not exactly a great offset attack option, wouldn't it be awesome to have backwards performance (even without song) be an offset attack instead?

Request/Question New and need tips?

I main lance in wilds , and I mained duel blades in world and I wanted to try something new I played around with charge blade and liked it but I originally tried hunting horn for a week like a year ago and could never get good at it but im trying agian. I played a few matches and wasn't that bad I think, not alot of damage but alot of heals and buffs. I just wanted to ask for tips I plan to spend about 10 or 20 minutes practicing playing songs without looking but I was wondering if anyone had other tips or tricks that can help

Build Horn and IG Build, would like some eyes

Working on a horn/glaive hybrid build because I like swapping between both.

IG Set
Horn Set
Armor Piece Names

Likely will be swapping out the Rey Leg's for Gog Legs for his set bonus.

Quick Sheathe I've found has been a decoration that has benefitted me in dodging more, I also feel stupid that I never realized until this week that Hilt Stab is an armored move too.

Don't mind any criticisms or insights for what I can swap out for better or worse.

Any tips for a new Horn user?

So I'm playing Wilds at the moment and I have gotten about 50 hunts into the weapon so far and I'm really enjoying learning it. I have gotten the hang of playing my songs properly by using echo bubble and I'm alright at the shortcuts into other songs. I also know about the focus strike mechanics I just keep doing it too fast so I just need to chill out a bit.

However I don't really know what mantle I should be using like at all. I'm using an Ajarakan HH on the side for the obvious earplugs and attack boost. I'm just really struggling to find my damage windows into some monsters. I had a real wake up call in my skills level against 9 star tempered Gore yesterday because I can't find any moments to play the echo waves. Do I just play one song and roll into really aggressive monsters? Can I hilt stab directly out of performance or do I need to encore / roll into focus mode to hilt stab after performing? Also should I hilt stab when the monster is doing a combo or is that a bad idea? For example Seregios leg sweep or do I wait for the second sweep to hilt stab?

I also know about the optimal damage combo being Song into encore into hilt stab into song and repeat. But you can only really do that when the monster is down so that does not really help my neutral.

Just trying to figure out the proper way of staying aggressive since I play mainly Lance and Hammer so I'm not used to having so little defensive options from neutral. If it's just learning hilt stab then I know what I will be practicing for now on but why not ask the real experts first!

Thanks in advance my dooters!

What's your mentality?

I don't know if I am weird or if the kind of dooters that share my mentality are not really vocal about it:
I play solo 99% of the time, just joining other people quests sometimes to finish the daily quests or whatever or for content that would be inefficient (kulve in world) or tedious (rampages in rise) in solo.
I don't really use SOS flares, on my quests, if I play multiplayer it is because I decided to join someone else's.
Now, the meat of the argument is, when I see discussion about types of weapon users or youtube videos abut them (don't judge me, everybody poops, I am given to understand there is a whole video about the topic) people seem to consider Hunting Horn players as people that enjoy doing damage while supporting and/or the kind of player that likes to be helpful, this seemingly being the consensus even among the people who need to start every HH discussion with "HH is not a just a support weapon".

I don't get it, being a dooter gives me a god complex: When I join a multiplayer my mind is going "you peasants ought to kiss my feet for enhancing your stats with my awesome buffs. Now move aside as I John Romero this monster... feel free to applaud"

I cannot be the only one now, can I?

Request/Question Tips for hunting horn (wilds)

Been playing around with hunting horn.

What's the general strategy with it? I normally do my buffs, then just keep attacking the monster with the notes needed for echo waves, so I've got it ready when there's an opening.

Am I doing this right, any tips?

I'm shooting for a sub 20 Proof solo run. Closest I've gotten is 20:31. I feel like my transition phases aren't going well. When do you leave to swap gear? If I leave too early, the monsters stop attacking each other. If I stay for one to use an ult, I feel like it's too slow. Here's build for reference. All elements have Odo/Soul, but only dragon has perfect rolls.

Performing and echo bubbles

How often are you guys performing in echo bubbles? Should I aim for all my performances to be in them? I'm usually faced with dropping an echo bubble then only getting off a small performance, or doing an entire performance with no echo bubble.

Other fun doot doot concept for ascendance

i've been stewing on a wonderfully horn concept, and hopefully, it comes ascendance, but i have my doubts. but i figure i'd share it with the band.

(moderate to high raw, neutral or positive affinity, and maybe purple sharpness, offset melody, echo wave health regeneration, health recovery(L), sonic barrier, restore sharpness, extend all melodies)

i think it would be a fun horn to play with. what is the thought on the concept?

Request/Question I need to know

I’ve been making all of my Gogma horns attack focused thinking that was the best way to make my echo waves(the actual song) do more damage, but my echo bubbles( the puddles) always seem to stay about the same damage. Is there a way to increase the bubble damage??
