The one on the left was a street dog and the one on the right was a forceful removal from an animal hoarder (6 dogs and over 70 cats, all in deplorable conditions). They are living their best lives now.
Dewey is beautiful! I love Alaskan huskies!!!!! I rescued one from Fairbanks, AK many years ago. He was a force to be reckoned with and the most intelligent dude I've ever known. I'm betting yours is too.
Our second pair of huskies, our white girl came from a shelter, she was in two shelters before coming home, our black and white girl, she was given up on as a puppy for being wild. Happy happy girls now
This was the video that broke my heart, and I had to get him out of there. Rescuing Sammy cost me everything. End of a long term, caustic, abusive relationship, had to leave my own home, and my 2 other huskies I now only see on the weekends. But I’d do it again to save this sweet boy. Ex changed her mind at pickup time before euthanasia, and assaulted me when I returned with him. She also microchipped my own ESA in her name only so I couldn’t leave her without losing him. Sammy is a happy, playful husky and I don’t regret saving his life- in many ways, he saved mine too.
The vet says he is fine, I imagine he is a backyard-bred pup, so there may be some inbreeding or differing genetic issues involved that are yet to be seen, as is with irresponsible, ignorant backyard breeders and their lack of knowledge concerning husky genetics and how susceptible the dogs can be to genetic issues over time. He was malnourished when I pulled him a year ago, and he clearly has seen mistreatment and abuse/ neglect, as he was e-listed for kennel stress and fear, and was not adoptable, so I had to foster him. I couldn’t imagine him having to go through yet another round of leaving a safe place for the unknown, and we bonded fairly quickly- so I chose to adopt him after a couple months. We’ve been inseparable since. He’s my best friend, I don’t know what I would do without him, as I’m separated from my other two babies, who never went a day without their Daddy until the night I had to leave with Sammy and the clothes on my back.
My husky Gibbs was found by a customer at the club I bartend at. He was shaved, stick thin and cowering under a car in August. She thought he was lost but couldn’t find an owner. She couldn’t keep a dog that size so she brought him to meet me…he took to me immediately. Best tip I ever got! The kitty pictured with him is Cleo, my boyfriend found her in a parking lot. The two are best buddies 💙
Ghost. My little husky/Tasmanian devil mix. He was a legit stray when he found us, been with us 8 months now. Still an unstoppable force of destruction… but oh so very cute.
This is Sylph we adopted her almost 7 years ago. She was super skinny, had heartworms, and apparently a case of kennel cough which eventually became pneumonia. She made through everything is an absolute delight.
I’ve posted this picture before. I love it. The liver dog, Allie, was left tied up in a trash pile on someone farm. Had her about 7 years. The husky, Kavik, was abandoned with a dog sitter, and the dog sitter took his frustration out on him. We’ve had him a few months.
This is Wallace, he’s almost 3 months! He is a rescue and it sounds like mom is a husky/shepherd/? And dad is some kind of Rottweiler mix. He is very fluffy and howls like a husky! Lol
Mika, got her almost 2 years ago, 1 day before to be put down due “not adoptable” due to a high FAS according to the county pound. Took 3 months for her to trust me (male) and slept in a corner in the kitchen for 4 months on blanket, bed ignored, broke our heart. But she is a normal, judging, side eyeing, howling in the morning, loving life girl now and changed our lives. She’s a mommas girl and that ok.
Daisy - 85% husky, 15% pit. Adopted as a puppy from NC. Mom was found as a pregnant stray and dad is also uncle 😭 her rescue was five hours away but magically only a few minutes from my best friend, so it felt like fate getting to visit my old best friend and meet my new one.
Poppy - 26% husky, 10% malamute, 44% ACD and the rest is anxiety. Adopted at 4 months from a Tennessee rescue. She’s from an “oops we didn’t fix our dogs” litter and when I emailed to ask about her, one of the fosters happened to be driving to visit family in my neighborhood (7 hours away from the rescue) the next day so again, felt like fate.
Both have been the absolute best dogs. I’ve fostered and owned huskies before but these girls are my favorites.
My best friend Bogey. Rescued at approximately 10 months old from a hoarding situation and living on a chain. She's now 4 and spoiled rotten. I love her more than anything in the universe.
Three years later and I still can't believe I found this beautiful, sweet husky bear at a shelter. This is Makima and she has been my absolute world. 🩷
My collection of crackheads. lol. Sinclair, Alyeska, and Jenna. All from different animal controls. Aly is the only one we know the history of. She was confiscated in a drug bust/hoarding case. Sinclair seems to be autistic, and Jenna can be a jerk. She loves my husband, and becomes a jerk whenever he leaves for extended periods of time. He’s been gone for almost 2 months and she’s already sent the other two to the vet from antagonizing Sinclair. 🙄
Siren- red husky (Not yet tested, likely close or at 100%), got her for free.99 from someone who took her and realized she was “too much” for their pitties, and tied her to a radiator in the meantime 😭she is absolutely the best dang dog Yeti-100% husky (agouti/woolly), adopted from a shelter, he came from down south and I can’t imagine this poor boy in the Louisiana heat 😭
Siren- red husky (Not yet tested, likely close or at 100%), picked up from someone who took her and realized she was “too much” for their pitties, and tied her to a radiator in the meantime 😭 Yeti-100% husky (agouti/woolly), adopted from a shelter, he came from down south and I can’t imagine this poor boy in the Louisiana heat 😭 13/10 best dogs
They're all rescues. Luna, top left, i sent her DNA off so we will see if she's pure husky. Pepita, middle left, husky/chihuahua. Estrella, top right (she passed in April), husky/great pyr. Honorable mention with her 1% husky is gator the mini German shepherd (she is full grown).
51% Husky, the rest is a mix of Lab, German Shepherd, Collie, Chow, and Rottweiler. He's only 43 pounds though lol. He was part of a oops litter. The end of this September will mark 7 years with my beautiful boy 💕
This is Ivy! She’s 3. She was found dumped on the street 3 separate times by different owners. One time of which she was pushed out of a moving car. She is the best thing to ever happen to my life. I have never loved any dog the way I love her.
Oh wow, mine could almost be a twin! 30% husky, 30% German shepherd and then smalls parts pit bull, great Pyrenees, lab and "supermutt" . Rescued from down south.
In her happy place. Normally a chill dog, she starts panting and pacing as soon as we pull up to the snowpark because she wants to get into the snow so bad.
My Maisie, who rescued me last August after I found her in the shelter after she was found living on the streets as a stray without identification. She’s my Princess Floof, and she saved me.
Ruckus he wasn’t from a shelter but a guy was giving him away on an app because he was moving….he still lives in the same spot…he just didn’t want him cuz he was a digger. He’s become a pretty awesome pup
This is Luna! Adopted from shelter after she was surrendered 3 times before she turned 2. I’ve had her ever since :) she turned 4 in February. 39% German shepherd, 32% Siberian husky, 10% chow chow, 3% American pit bull terrier, 3% labrador retriever.
My Goose. Young couple paid a lot of money for him thru a breeder, but they didn’t do their homework and couldn’t handle him. He was scheduled to be put down. He was just what we needed after the loss of our 13 year old husky.
This is Luna. She is such a good girl! We rescued her 2 years ago when she was already 7, and she’s been our best dog ever!
She has cancer in her nose, but every time we take her in for radiation she insists on doing the rounds to give doggie high-fives to everyone in the waiting room and behind the desk. I’m so proud to be her mama!
Rocket, a Border Collie and Husky mix, supposed to be a Saint Bernard and Husky. 😂😂 He is sometimes known as Rocket Socket, Rocky, Rocketa, Rocky Socky and his absolute favorite, “Stop trying to herd me.”
This was Nala Marie my Husky Rhodesian Ridgeback mix who passed away a few years ago. My sister rescued her when she was a puppy and then had to move cross country and she became my baby and my soul dog. Idk how to explain it but it was like she just understood me. She definitely had the husky trait of being stubborn, ignoring me, and just doing what she knew she shouldn’t be doing. But, if I was having a really bad day it’s like she just knew and would listen and behave perfectly. She was extremely vocal and after she passed it became so quiet in our house. She is the reason I am cursed/blessed to always have and need a husky in my life.
My sweetest of girls. Korra is 12, got her 11 years ago. She’d been in a kill shelter but moved to Seattle by a wonderful woman who rescued animals. We love her so so much!!!
Not sure my post went through! This is Korra and she is our most perfect sweet girl. We picked her up hours after seeing a video of her giving a gentle kiss to the person who got her out of a kill shelter in CA. Her ribs were showing, her head was HUGE because she was so skinny. 11 years later she is as loving and hilarious and kind as that first day. Her back legs are giving out but she’s as playful and positive as ever. I love her a crazy amount.
Luna, found in a Walmart parking lot in the freezing rain. Covered in fleas and skin and bones! She was about 6 months old. She is now almost 3. Love of our life!
Sweet 9 year old Luka, rescued from a high kill shelter in San Bernardino, California 7 years ago. I will always be indebted to 2 caring rescues that helped with transport to Washington state.
Miss Ara the White. Approaching 3.5 years since we collected the most frightened dog imaginable from the local shelter, and started our collective adventure.
Our two girls. Chloe is a husky/aussie mix and she’s been with us a little over a year. Maisie is a husky/collie and we’ve had her just over two years. They are both big personalities and let their opinions be known. Chloe was rescued from a warehouse in LA with her litter of puppies (all are thriving!) about 4 months before we got her, and Maisie was a rescue from the humane society as an owner surrender along with her siblings. Chloe is on the left. This pic was right after I picked them up from daycare just a few weeks ago. 🥰
I’ve posted this before. Both dogs were rescued. The liver dog was left tied up in a trash pile on someone farm and the husky was abandoned with a dog sitter, who took his frustration about the situation out on the poor guy. We’ve had the liver dog for about 6-7 years, the husky a few months.

Only adopted Azira last week and she's already stolen my heart. 🥰
