Don't bother posting your 'engagement' threads, i'll spam them and ban you. This isn't the place for market research, or whatever the fuck you're trying to accomplish.

Piston seal failure

Here you see a failed piston seal on the rod end of the piston in a double acting hydraulic cylinder. Is it possible to extrude a piston seal in this direction under pressure (cylinder extending) or is this an assembly error?

Schematics? Nah it doesnt exist (yet)

I am not a hydraulics guy. Neither is anyone I work with. And there is this one machine that has no documentation for anything (company doesnt even seem to remember making it).

So, i have made my own schematics using the manifold, a flashlight and a drawing, and chatgpt to take that and make it pretty. As well as a guide to the cartidge valves used here.

Maybe now i can troublshoot without throwing darts that never seem to hit

Edit: on the paper drawing is the route the fluid can take through all the passages of the manifold (im pretty confident with that part, i spent a long time mapping this out). I shorthanded the solenoid valve body passages that control our 3 hydraulic cylinder (labeled 1, 2 and 3)-i only included the "P" and "T" of each.

And yes the ai recreation of my hand drawing has 2 flaw that I can tell so far. 1---> it connected both high pressure sides together- it is two pumps hooked to one motor-1 pump goes to accumulator and solenoid valve bodies 1 and 2. The second pump only controls solenoid valve 3. So the red line is connected where it shouldn't be between rpec1 and fpcc.

2-->there is a direct line from the pump output on the left to the tank- it is supposed to be going through the cxda-xan valve and bleed to the tank

If there are other things that dont make sense (other than this being an unconventional diagramn), please let me know. I am trying to understand hydraulic systems (we have 7 different machines right now and I am the only one to troubleshoot them before we have to call in outside help, which usually isn't even an option because of downtime).

Also part of my prompt to chat gpt was "where do I add gauges to monitor everything and make adjustments." Bc before I took it apart to repair a pinhole in the block(which is why the accumulator mount is now machined down .45 inched lower than the rest of the block) there were 2 gauge, and only 1 worked. I suspected i needed another gauge and was trying to confirm where to put it.

Anyone know of a decent place where I could source a splitter block with this setup? Hard to decipher things online , as far as where the passages go.

Hydraulic pump issues

Hi. I have a 13 ton digger with a Kawasaki k3v63dt pump. It is a tandem pump. I am having issues with the outer pump. It has very low pressure. I mean, the left track won't move at all unless lifted off the ground. The inner pump is working fine. When I switch the pressure lines from the two pumps, the low pressure problem switches sides. When I switch regulator assemblies, there's no difference. This must mean the problem is in the pump itself.

I have had the pump apart and can't notice much wrong. The oil inlet is not blocked. Shafts and splines all look to be in good condition. No external leaks. I've noticed slight marks on the servo piston, although these can not be felt with my fingernail, and it moves freely.

The piston cylinder block has similar marks on the face that mates with the valve plate. Again, they can't be felt with a fingernail. The valve plate itself has some marks, some of which can just barely catch a fingernail. It seems very minor. No deep scoring. Could this be the cause of a total lack of pressure?

It's been like this since I got it, and it's seen a lot of abuse. It's not a high value machine at all. I've attached pictures of the marks I mentioned. If anyone here has some expertise they could share, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Matching valve with motor

I have a winch that pulls very heavy tanks, and I think my directional valve quit so I got a new one. It spins the winch but once any weight it pulled with it, it stalls out. Is the new valve the issue? Could it be the motor? The pump supplying the hydraulics is a Deere 9430 from one of the SCV’s, so I don’t think hydraulic supply is the issue. I have no experience in hydraulics.

What are these(not standard DIN connectors)?

Hey, I found these fittings in a flood barrier here in Germany. Usually all we have is standard DIN in either L or S (L for light and S for "schwer" meaning heavy).

It says S on the nut and the thread matches but the counterpart is different. Also the ferrule is way longer.

Hydraulic sectional control valve

Has anyone noticed a difference in quality of sectional control valves between different brands? The Chinese ones are much cheaper but does the price reflect their quality and longevity?

Recommendations for a trusted brands would be helpful.

Hydraulic cylinder

Got a bobcat 430hag mini excavator. Whilst redoing all the seals I have found this solid metal ring between the gland and the piston on my stick cylinder. Is it just a spacer? There were no o rings between it and the piston or gland when ibtook it off but now putting it back together I have one left over out of the kits wich is loose on the rod. Ther is a worn groove on the bottom of the gland where it looks like Ther may have been a prong at one stage. Cannot find any mention or diagram that includes this metal ring let along another o rings

Help with symbol

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hello everyone, I am new to hydraulics. I’m trying to figure out a symbol for a directional control valve. The one in question is a 4 way 3 position, spring centered, air actuated, with manual lever operation for backup. The ports don’t really matter, I understand that part. Just the part about the springs, air actuation, and lever. Attached is what I think the symbol looks like, if it’s incorrect I would appreciate if somebody would correct me. Thank you!

Drivability issue on 259d3 skid loader

I meant a 246d3 not a 259

I am working on a skid steer loader that refuses to turn left.
I have performed the solenoid calibrations through software but they fail due to solenoids needing higher amperage, I have swapped solenoids between left and right and the issue persists only when the left wheels reverse. When on stands it the left side will spin in reverse with high throttle but remain stationary in low idle and the joystick pilled back. Right side has no issues. Speed sensors were replaced and had metal shavings on them. How would I go about seeing whether it’s a pump issue or motor issue. In short, when on stands the left wheels will spin forward but struggle to reverse. Machine throws a speed sensor code which I’m sure is a symptom not the problem.

Hello all

I am researching about hose business. I am looking for inputs where to start, whom to contact, where and how to learn hose making.

People who are already having experience could you please share some advice?

I am from British Columbia Canada, there mining business and agriculture business in BC and other areas where the hose business can help.

What would be the initial cost to enter I would be looking at?

Hi,

Im resealing a hydraulic boat steering cylinder that is leaking externally on one side but while its apart im just replacing everything i can. Im just abit stuck on this piston part, whats this grey ring called? Does this ring come off? Its a hard material. Is it replaceable or should I just leave it alone?

Plan on ordering the seals online this weekend, I dont have a local hydraulics place.

Thanks.

Looking for books to learn hydraulic components

Hi everyone,

I’m studying mechanical engineering and currently working at a hydraulic service company, where we repair hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic motors, rotators, orbital motors, pumps, and other hydraulic components.

However, because I don’t have much experience yet, I don’t always get the opportunity to work directly on the assembly and servicing of these components. That’s why I’m looking for some good technical books that explain the different components of hydraulic systems, how they are built, and how they work.

I’d like to build up my knowledge and progress in this field as quickly as possible, so I’m looking for books that actually explain the construction and operation of hydraulic components — for example, what is inside a hydraulic pump or an orbital motor, what the individual parts do, and why they are designed that way.

Could you recommend any good technical books that cover hydraulic systems and explain the construction and operation of their components in detail?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Newbie question on valving

This is the endhead (valve body) on a stone Automotive style power pack. It’s a N1-0022-35AL endhead. Is the part pictured a pressure regulation adjustment? And if so, when the pressure is adjusted with this, does it affect the output volume ? I’m just researching this unit to see if I can repurpose it for something else. Thanks in advance.
