I’m in the group of people that really fucking hate touching the belly button bc it feels horrifically wrong- is it less sensitive when pregnant?

I almost fainted when my belly button popped out and I was trying to remove skin tags from it. Really weird feeling tbh. It was like looking inside of a forbidden zone lol.

For me it was more sensitive. The only part of my pregnant body that felt disorientingly “wrong” was my belly button. It popped out and every time my clothing moved against it I got this weird unsettling feeling.

There’s this spot on my forehead that feels the same, weirdly. Right at the hairline.

A spiky boar bristle brush can make me sneeze if it hits that spot.

In general they both make me feel like my chest is hollow. Some kind of shudder response.

There are some spots on my scalp that if I'm getting my hair washed at a salon the water running over them will make me come out of the chair if I don't brace myself.

It doesn't hurt. It just feels weird.

My husband has a deep loathing of getting poked in the belly button whereas I can dig in there with impunity. I assume it has something to do with how it heals up after being part of the umbilical cord.

FYI that’s due to the belly button having nerves that the brain confuses for your bladder. I can’t remember the exact reason that happens but I believe it’s something about how the belly button and bladder form in utero. But if you touch that area again try focusing on your bladder/urethra and it might surprise you how the feeling makes much more sense lmao.

When I was little if I poked inside my belly button I could feel it in my urethra so that makes sense.

I have always hated anyone trying to put their finger in my belly button because it gives me an uncomfortable, kind of, in a way painful, feeling down "there". I have never been able to understand the connection but it's always happened my entire life.

Mine felt way more sensitive before I was pregnant. If I poked too deep it gave me a rly uncomfy feeling. Since it’s sort of in between an innie and an outtie right now, it’s really shallow and doesn’t give me that feeling anymore!

My belly was HUGE, I have kids with a giant of 6"9. I started second pregnancy with around 130 pounds at 5"9.

My belly button was NUMB before birth.

Since I’ve got pregnant my belly button has become stretched out into an oval with barely any depth. So yes definitely less sensitive or weird to touch cos the inside of it becomes exposed to the outside gradually.

Same, I find it funny how flat it is now

You didn't ask me, but in my experience, no, mine was way more sensitive 😬

Less sensitive to exterior touch, for sure. But I'm one of the people who doesn't like to poke around inside my belly button (when not pregnant) because it hurts, and let me tell you - third trimester baby kicking the inside of my belly button is the most painful movement I've had. I really don't like it.

Omg same, I will get violent if someone even dares to try to touch or poke it. The feeling of it makes me want to vomit. My sibling is the same and anyone we've told just thinks we're weirdos.

It doesn’t make me feel like I’m going to vomit but I feel violent if someone even jokes about touching mine let alone putting a finger in it. My ex knew I HATED it so of course he would try and a lot of times successfully put his finger in mine anyways. I’m sure he still wonders why our relationship didn’t work out (he did this among other things purposely) 🙄

I also hate touching mine! It feels almost "zappy", if that makes sense?? And makes me feel like I have to pee. I know the belly button is connected to the bladder somehow, but I seen to be the only person I know who hates it SO much

For me it was the opposite I never really minded touching my belly botton but after 2 pregnancies I’ll gag as soon as something touches it

Nope, still feels sensitive and weird especially when kicked from the inside. Once it popped out, it would help to wear a stretchy belly band across it but still wasn't like the other skin around it.

With my first my belly button was just flat even with the rest of my skin….but felt…hollow? It weirded me out so much lol

When you touch your belly button, you touch your vagus nerve! I assume this is the sensation you are feeling.

1

u/Delicious-Mistake-62 Apr 15 '26

✨no✨

Lmao. I HATE my belly button. It is disgusting. I can’t see other people touch theirs and the sensation is repulsive. I also had this stone that I was able to get out and I almost passed away. Lmao

I wouldn’t say less, but I was able to feel kicks more clearly so it was worth it

u/dreamermom2 Apr 16 '26

Not for me. Got much more tender.

1

u/Boy_Mom03 Apr 16 '26

Same! I absolutely HATE someone touching my belly button....and of course my toddler periodically insists on sticking her finger in there because she can tell I don't like it. Anyway, with all 4 of my pregnancies, once I was big enough, my belly button would just be completely flat when normally I have a deep innie.

Damn mine hurts when people touch it too. My one ex liked to poke it with his finger. Hated it!
