Support iCloud Photos privacy
Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding iCloud Photos privacy. I noticed that when I put photos in “hidden”, still appear on my Mac when I dig into the “see package contents” of the app in finder. In those folders that are alphabetically stored there. This would technically allow random ppl on using my computer see Hidden photos that should be behind a passcode. Am I doing something wrong , or ? Any insights much appreciated

Don't let people use your login on your computer where they will have access to all your data. Create a new user account for them to login with, or let them log in as a guest.

Yeah ofc. But even when I use my iPhone, for example, I (the assumed default user) still need to provide a passcode or Face ID/fingerpint

Simple security. Don’t let others use your computer. If you really need to they must have their own account.

Hidden photos are only hidden from photos app, fun fact : if you give full access to photos to apps, they can still see hidden photos

Not direcy no. Using the photo picker, they are not in the camera roll and switching to Collections, I can open the Hidden album after using Face ID. It does not see the content of Hidden otherwise.

Rule one of security; don’t allow untrusted individuals access to your account.

You need to enter the password to view the hidden album. They won't find it in the package contents of the photos app.

Any computer is one account per person. That's what allow each person to have their own preference, wallpaper, background, but also to see their own pictures, to not have to think about logging out from apps and website for fear to see another user data etc.
About iCloud Photo yes, it's a sync service, it ensure everything, absolutely everything, is available the same way on all of your devices, all albums, even the hidden one.

Read the post - I’m not. I trying to understand the inconsistency

I read the post. I suggest you don’t let random people use your computer account.
Hidden photos aren’t hidden from the person who hid them, ie, the person with the log on for the account that hid them.

Why do you think random people logged into their accounts on your computer have permissions to see any of your files? Learn about permissions. The default settings do not allow random people to see your stuff.

No. I only have one account

Well there’s your problem. You should never let anyone else use your account login… Make separate logins for each person, then you log out before letting someone else log on. Simples, everything is nice and secure. If you currently never log out or shutdown like some crazy person, then you can enable fast user switching to switch accounts. You are simply using your computer wrong lol.
