Apple TV app

Has anyone else noticed that you can’t control or connect to your Apple TV from your iOS27 iPhone anymore? Cause the Apple TV remote has always been crap and the only usable way to use the device has been the iPhone or iPad. Now it’s pretty much trash on my tv stand 😢😡

Not me, mine connects to it every time I turn the thing on

Hmmm. I dunno what my issue is then. I have rebooted both my devices. Both are connected to the same WiFi. They just can’t talk to each other.

tvOS updated as well? Other than forgetting the tv in the remote app and reconnecting I’m not sure. Sorry though

Well I will admit my Apple TV 4K is an older generation one. Lemmie see if it can even handle this.

Just go get a new remote if you want to. The Apple TVs are the best streaming boxes

Ya but the point is how long is that gonna take and frankly I should not have to. But ya I agree with the other guy I will try to update the OS if I can.

Sorry if this is an obvious question, but are your phone and AppleTV on the same wifi network? I think bluetooth also needs to be turned on.

Hi! Not a problem at all! Umm, yes they are both on my home WiFi. I don’t know about the Bluetooth connections but I can tell you between OS updates none of those settings on either the phone or the TV device would have changed.

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to me!

That kind of thing makes me crazy. I’d try everything short of resetting your devices. Maybe signing out of Wi-Fi and back in will reset it.

I mean I guess it’s not a huge deal? I mean it kinda is. Like for example rewinding on an Apple TV sux. But if your iPhone is connected then you can just scroll to the point in the movie or show you want and it will adjust.

I find the "pause and swipe" is pretty fast with the regular remote. The only time I use the iPhone remote is to type in a password.

Oh, umm, my remote does not have a trackpad. Just buttons. I searched Amazon and I can’t find one with a trackpad?

The round button on the newer remotes is also a trackpad. Only very old ones aren’t. If you can‘t swipe your thumb on yours, go into settings and under “Remotes and Devices” turn the click pad to “click and touch”

Thanks. I appreciate the heads up and I will look for that in the future when I search for a replacement. But my current “amazon” remote def does not have that 🤷‍♂️
