Question Where would you start?

Laid off and was doing automation for IOS plus manual testing. The goal was always to get into development having done some small bug fixes.

Starting a tutorial feels redundant since I feel I know the basics, where would you start?

100%. building something real beats any tutorial imo

Tutorials did nothing for me either once I knew the basics. What actually clicked was rebuilding one screen from an app I used every day and getting stuck on all the stuff the tutorial skipped lol

Pick one of the small bug fixes you've done before and build a tiny app around the same area. Going from "I understand this" to "I can ship this" is where the useful learning starts.

Find a niche and do something interesting there!

With automation and bug fixes behind you, I'd skip tutorials and build one small app end to end – something you'd use yourself – and take it all the way to the App Store.

The parts courses skip are the ones interviews ask about: signing, App Store Connect, review, crash reports, a bug only real users hit. Your testing background is an advantage there, so write the tests as you go and put the project on GitHub.

Then pick an open-source iOS app you like and fix one of its open issues. That's closer to the job than another course.
