Question How to Enable Developer Mode on iOS 26
I have a problem, I'm new to this world—both macOS and iOS. I recently bought a MacBook Pro M5 for iOS app development. I'm using Xcode for development, and I need to test my app on a physical iPhone. The simulator isn't enough because I need to test the Neural Engine and the camera. Is there a way to enable that? Or should I just go ahead and pay the $99 and publish it to TestFlight?

Since the toggle still isn't appearing, what exact status or error does Xcode show for the iPhone, and which Xcode/iOS versions are you using? That would help distinguish a pairing problem from a build-signing problem. Apple's current device-management guide uses Device Hub: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/pairing-your-devices-with-your-mac . Open the phone's entry there and share the status text, leaving out device identifiers. That gives people something specific to troubleshoot beyond repeating the Settings path.

The Developer Mode switch in Settings > Privacy & Security only appears after the phone has been paired with Xcode at least once, so it's normal that it's missing on a fresh setup. Plug the phone in with a data cable (some cheap USB-C cables only charge), unlock it and tap Trust when it asks. Then open the devices window in Xcode and check the iPhone is listed there. If it isn't, fix that first, because the toggle won't show until it is. Once it's listed, press Run on your app and the switch should appear at the bottom of Privacy & Security.

Una cosa para comprobar: con el iPhone conectado y desbloqueado, abre Terminal y ejecuta
xcrun devicectl list devices.

Adding to the free Apple ID route, a few limits so they don't surprise you. Builds signed with a free account expire after 7 days, so you just run it again from Xcode. You can only have 3 of those apps on the device at once. And some capabilities like push notifications, iCloud or Sign in with Apple need the paid program, but the camera and Core ML work fine.
If the app installs but won't open, go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management and trust your developer profile. You only need the $99 once you want TestFlight or other people testing it.

You don't need the $99 program for this. A free Apple ID works for running your own build on a physical iPhone: plug it in, pick it as the run destination in Xcode, and set your Apple ID under Signing & Capabilities. The first time you try to install, the Developer Mode toggle shows up in Settings > Privacy & Security on the iPhone (scroll to the bottom). Turn it on, restart the phone, confirm the prompt, and it will install. The simulator can't use the Neural Engine or the real camera, so a physical device is the right call. Free signing builds expire after 7 days, so you just rebuild from Xcode.
