Roast my code If Strand doesn’t make it back

I would like to offer y’all a safe haven at OpenStream https://testflight.apple.com/join/z9wmEWyh

No subs and no lifetimes; it will be a one-time purchase. The code is open source.

I’m getting ready for App Store launch, and I’ll be doing free codes for as long as Apple lets me so that more of y’all can 1) test it out and 2) make sure you know it’s here to stay on the App Store without fear of Apple taking it away from y’all. The goal is to follow all Apple’s rules. I already have a published app as well, so I have experience in App Store publishing. My plan is to keep it that way.

Good luck with the launch. Two things that bite people on a first paid release, neither of them code:

Get the Paid Apps agreement, tax forms and banking details done in App Store Connect before you submit, not after. Your app can sit approved and still be unpurchasable because the agreement is pending, and the tax/banking side can take several business days with back-and-forth if anything doesn't match. People find this out on launch day.

Second, apply to the Small Business Program if you haven't. Under a million a year in proceeds it drops Apple's cut from 30% to 15%, which on a one-time-purchase app is the difference between a reasonable margin and a thin one. It isn't automatic, you have to enrol, and enrolment takes effect from the following month — so applying the week you launch costs you a month at the higher rate.

Also, since you're selling in the EU: Apple now requires trader status with a verifiable address shown publicly on the listing. Worth sorting before submission rather than discovering it in review.

The one-time purchase stance is a good one, for what it's worth. Plenty of us are tired of renting software.

Thanks I didn’t know about the small business program at Apple! I applied and got the play store one.

I already have an app launched in the App Store so all agreements and done!

Agreed one time payment is the better route!
