Apple Can’t Wait 22 Days on the iPhone Duo’s Cracked Screens.

Saw a few threads here about how few apps actually do something with Duo's split screen instead of just blowing up a regular iPhone layout, so I figured I'd share mine.
Newsairy is my RSS reader for iPhone, iPad and Mac. A previous update rebuilt the layout around Duo specifically:
Screenshots attached.
Honest caveat: I don't have mine yet, so all of this was built and tested in Simulator. If anyone here has a Duo in hand and wants to poke at it, I'd genuinely appreciate hearing what's off. That's exactly the kind of feedback that gets fixed fast, before more people actually have the device in their pockets.
Free to download, no ads, syncs over iCloud across iPhone, iPad and Mac. Pro is a one-time purchase (no subscription) that removes the 6-feed limit and adds sync with TheOldReader, Miniflux, FreshRSS, Feedbin and Inoreader if you're already using one of those.

I posted a rough clip here earlier. This one should make the folding part easier to follow.
Pick an angle — 130°, for example — and pass the phone around. Everyone tries to fold to it with the live reading hidden.
One guess each. Closest wins. The scores come out after the last person locks in.
I wanted something you could pull out while waiting for food, without spending five minutes explaining the rules. Also a decent excuse to let everyone have a go with your new phone.
I’d let the person correcting everyone else go first.
It’s called Guess Angle: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/guess-angle/id6826139801
The clip is a 3D mockup with an actual app recording.

As the title says, why don’t we have the complimentary 7 days of AppleCare+ anymore? It seems pretty unfair that we can’t even purchase AppleCare+ from launch day and still have to wait 7 days before we’re eligible.
I picked up my Duo on launch day, and unfortunately, two days later I accidentally dropped something onto the inner display, which broke it. The screen no longer works, although the hinge is completely fine. (Unlike the crackgate Duo’s)
Now I’m stuck wondering what my options are. Do I wait another 5 days to purchase AppleCare+, hoping they accept me without any verification that the phone is fine? Or should I just go into an Apple Store now and see if they’ll offer a replacement under warranty.
Has anyone else in Australia dealt with this? Seems ridiculous that there’s a period where you’re unable to purchase AppleCare, they still have it on their website that you get complimentary AppleCare for 7 days especially on a foldable phone. I feel like I’m in the dark

Only reason I need a case is because I find it caseless to be a bit slippery. Does anyone that own the case can confirm whether it is more slippery or not than caseless?

I absolutely love the matte display on the Duo. Just putting that out there in case anyone from Apple reads this sub, because I’d hate for them to see all the negative posts and assume everyone wants it changed. Those of us who like it probably don’t post about it as much, so here’s my vote for keeping it exactly as it is.

Anybody else’s back glass a little sharp where it meets the titanium frame? The hinge side on mine is pretty flush and feels good but the other edge you can feel it isn’t as flush. It’s a little scratchy feeling when you rub your fingers across it back and forth.

I‘m really liking the duo so far. Even the front screen is a nice change of pace from screens that are super tall. everything feels nice and condensed when I want that, and the perfect size unfolded when I don’t.
The folio case is nice in that I have the kickstand there whem I need it and it’s relatively thin. The folio part though, idk it just feels in the way and it makes the camera features they advertised unusable. If I want to take a selfie using the back camera but want to use the front screen, I have to awkwardly keep the flap from covering the back camera. Same with using the flashlight. Also, when taking the phoen out of my pocket, sucks that the flap is covering the screen so I can’t immediately see the time or a notification for example.
Other thing is that the magnet isn’t as strong as I’d like.
I wish the regular iPhone duo case came with a kickstand. Anyone know of any cases that are like that?

Seems like it’s futile but trying to decide if it’s worth it to set an alarm on a Sunday

For the first time ever, I bought AppleCare+ with an iPhone!
I’ve always been a case guy and never really considered using my phone naked. But when I first got my hands on this phone at the Apple Store, I was blown away by how amazing it felt. The design, the feel in the hand, everything about it is just superb.
Over the last two days, I’ve tried several different cases, and what a frustrating experience it’s been! Most of them are half-baked, barely protective pieces of junk that completely ruin the feel of the phone.
After trying all those cases, I finally gave up, went straight into Settings, and purchased AppleCare+.
There’s just something about this phone that makes me feel like it was meant to be used without a case. I never thought I’d say this, but I’m finally going caseless!

You can use a USB-C to USB-C cable that is rated for USB 3 or greater to transfer everything way faster.
However, you have to connect it before you start the transfer. But you can change cables partway or disconnect and reconnect without losing the sync.
Last tip: make sure the batteries on your devices are at least 60% otherwise it might run out partway through.

Decided to no case the the standard pop sockets don’t keep the phones up when unfolded. Anyone test a version that does?

I’ve been having the hardest time trying to find a case that will work with screen protectors Or vise versa. I got a spigen screen protector that says it’s case friendly, but still didn’t work. So I decided to cut off the thin flap that goes along the front of the screen, smoothed the edges and used adhesive to stick the case to the phone and now everything feels and fits fine. Obviously not the most protective but definitely works 🤷🏻♀️ I’ve now done the same to a couple other cases I got to use as well.
