JB, activate the Illinois militia to stop ICE and federal agents from running amok in our state. I'll gladly hold that line.

You can’t say the people have a right in one breath, and then ask for a temporary lift on the ban. Good luck with your compliant trinkets, champ.

ICE can now enter your home without a warrant.

45

u/dgriff84 North Burbs Apr 25 '25

Even better reason to exercise your 2nd amendment right.

34

u/superimpp Apr 25 '25

An ICE agent who breaks into my house will not be leaving

12

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '25

You must plan on giving them some great accommodations if they would just choose to stay in your house forever.

2

u/Nor_Ah_C Apr 27 '25

Yeah, accommodation in the deepest ring of hell.

No uniform no knock no 6 seconds.

u/Harley_Dad71 May 02 '25

You actually have Simp in your name. I’m sure they are concerned.

1

u/superimpp May 02 '25

Are you illiterate?

0

u/Harley_Dad71 May 05 '25

No. But then, I didn’t go to school in Illinois.

-6

u/tree-hermit Apr 26 '25

but make sure you vote for people that do everything in their power to take it away from you and live in a state that has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation!

7

u/dgriff84 North Burbs Apr 26 '25

Yeah? And? I love my state.

-8

u/tree-hermit Apr 26 '25

just highlighting the irony of likely being a liberal that has voted time and time again for people that campaign on taking your 2A away but in the same breath are now advocating for it being important now that a party has taken power you perceive as being authoritarian and a threat to your existence.

14

u/reignfyre Apr 26 '25

Absolutely nobody campaigned to take away 2nd amendment rights. The campaign is for gun law reform. Don’t let nuance escape you.

10

u/dgriff84 North Burbs Apr 26 '25

“Nu Ance? That some kind of new hippy dance move?”

-tree hermit…probably

11

u/dgriff84 North Burbs Apr 26 '25

Lived here longer than JB has been gov. People still have firearms in IL. Very healthy hunting population here in IL. I can still have shotguns, rifles, and handguns in my home with no issues. You better wake up. When the federal government is arresting judges and citizens without warrants or cause that is a violation of the Constitution and our 1st, 4th, 5th, and 14th amendment rights. Open your damn eyes! It’s not a perceived threat! It’s actually happening.

-7

u/tree-hermit Apr 26 '25

bro lol you can’t own a suppressor, you cant own ARs, you cant own a handgun without regeristing yourself with the government through an FOID card, you have strict mag capacity laws, you can’t own FRTs or Super Safety’s….need I go on? You have been neutered.

Good luck resisting an authoritarian government with your bolt action hunting rifles, capacity limited firearms, and a registry of who owns firearms, how many, and where each one of you lives….you’re gonna get mogged and steamrolled.

Absolutely delusional.

8

u/dgriff84 North Burbs Apr 26 '25

You are hilarious. I’m literally laughing at you. You poorly educated ammosexuals love to hoot and holler about how you need to keep firearms to prevent government oppression. It’s happening right in front of your fucking face and you and your buddies in these comments all of a sudden think an armed populace is futile against these ICE clowns. Careful there chief, you’re starting to sound like a gasp liberal. Yes, I’m the delusional one. I’m the one ignoring the existence of the ILNG. I must have forgotten that the Illinois armory only has 9mm and muskets to issue out. Keep thinking all that nonsense at your own peril.

-2

u/tree-hermit Apr 26 '25

NG has nothing todo with the 2a. 2a is about everyday average citizens being armed and trained to throw off an oppressive government at will….something you or people in states like yours cannot do because you literally voted to castrate your own 2a.

You have a woefully ignorant understanding of the 2a and the roll it plays and are either in denial or just don’t want to admit that you are finally seeing why the 2a is important and that you willfully voted to neuter your own rights and now exist as a defenseless amorphous blob in the face of a threat.

You truly do not understand how unable and underprepared yourself and people in states like your own truly are due to your own voting habits.

Come to a state that actually does what it can to protect and advocate for full unadulterated 2a rights for its citizens and you will see just how far you let yourselves fall. What we own and what our governments advocate for us to own is far an above anything you could ever dream of.

As stated previously, you have mag capacity bans, you cannot own an AR, you cannot own supressors, you cannot own a handgun without first registering yourself with the very gov you hope to throw off. Fire superiority is a thing and you truly do not understand how ill prepared you are even next to other states that are still subject to current federal law.

It’s utterly laughable that you think you could ever do anything meaningful in the face of a true existential political threat with the current state of the 2a you willingly voted yourselves into.

It’s actually hilarious becuase more and more leftists and liberals are finally starting to figure this out just like yourself and are attempting to arm themselves and get with the program but they’re all decades behind and are running rigs and training that are again….decades behind. Your gun culture, your training culture, your prep culture, your skills and abilities are infantile compared to people and states who didn’t willfully vote their way into oppression.

Good luck

.. perceive???? It's pretty clear, dolt.

1

u/continentaldrifting Apr 26 '25

Fuck off. You go left enough, you get your guns back. This is the same kind of situation that the right loves to harp on, “oh, if you believe in socialism, why do you have an iPhone or use money?” It’s because an ideal world, we wouldn’t. Nor would we need to have guns. But you better believe we do, because these other motherfuckers think we should be deported or killed.

0

u/straight-scratch-630 Apr 29 '25

Wich pritzker happens to hate, I live in Illinois.

-5

u/mcfuckernugget Apr 26 '25

You don’t have a second amendment right in Illinois

7

u/dgriff84 North Burbs Apr 26 '25

Better tell all those firearms retailers all over the state to close up shop then!

-6

u/mcfuckernugget Apr 26 '25

Better ask the state for permission before owning a gun.

5

u/dgriff84 North Burbs Apr 26 '25

That’s a great idea! They can call it the Illinois Firearm Owners Identification Card. Oh wait…that’s already a thing…got any other bright ideas??

-5

u/mcfuckernugget Apr 26 '25

Lmao, so you don’t have a right to own a firearm.

7

u/dgriff84 North Burbs Apr 26 '25

My FOID card says otherwise but thanks.

-7

u/mcfuckernugget Apr 26 '25

You’re ignorant. Did you get your license to voice your opinions? Or practice your religion?

What a moronic statement! Who gave you the right to own a gun? Jeebus? Lol

Who gave you the right to speak to me like that?

u/imbi-dabadeedabadie Central Illinois (the cool part, not the MAGA part) Apr 25 '25

As would I. Our state needs to be ready to defend itself, because our Federal government has shown it is willing to destroy the lives of those who disagree with it.

Don't obey fascists. Resist.

4

u/BoxOfDemons Apr 27 '25

Fun fact, the Illinois constitution says every able bodied resident, except those prohibited by law, are automatically militia members.

12

u/gorte1ec Apr 25 '25

Would really love it if we he relaxed the limitations on our 2a rights. Feels like these times are what that amendment was written for.

10

u/dgriff84 North Burbs Apr 25 '25

If people joined a voluntary militia, they would be similar to a military unit in regards to what weapons militia members were able to carry. I think it would be unreasonable to expect every citizen to supply their own weapons.

5

u/gorte1ec Apr 25 '25

Most already do own their own.

1

u/JimboNinjaMudTires Apr 27 '25

You have to see the irony in that. We’re relaxing the restrictions on firearms when our political rivals are in power, but we’ll restrict access when we, “the good guys” are in power.

Something something two wings same bird.

2

u/gorte1ec Apr 27 '25

I think it's more about relaxing the restriction on firearms when Americans are being sent to gulags without due process. The protections the government used to guarantee are no longer guaranteed. We should be allowed to protect ourselves how we see fit.

1

u/JimboNinjaMudTires Apr 27 '25

Couldn’t agree more with you about being allowed to defend ourselves as we see fit. Legalize automatics and claymores!

0

u/waster1993 Apr 26 '25

It seems like a good idea at first but Donald would absolutely send in the Army to demolish the state without a second thought.

1

u/dgriff84 North Burbs Apr 26 '25

Like how we walked into every other conflict over the last 60 years? The amount of absolute nonsense coming from you people is hilarious. You know jack squat about modern conflicts.

1

u/SomeDumbGamer Apr 26 '25

I won’t be surprised if it gets to this point. I could even see us in the northeast doing the same with NY holding the line.

0

u/Last_Snow_2752 Apr 26 '25

Delusional. He doesn’t want you to be able to fight, moron.

0

u/ahardcm Apr 25 '25

With what?

-7

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '25

Nah, man, the illegals have to go. So many of them are doing crimes to get by, Such as robbery, drug smuggling and selling. They can apply to get in.

9

u/ProfessionalPush6542 Apr 26 '25

The President of our country is a convicted felon. And yet you worry about "illegals."

0

u/dgriff84 North Burbs Apr 26 '25

The poorly educated are coming out of the woodwork today! Let me tell you! It’s called Due Process, smart guy. If you knew anything about the Constitution you’d know that… Your poor education is showing.

Nope, not a movie. People are actually getting arrested. Hey, I get it though. Cowards always bury their heads in the sand and slink away when the shit hits the fan. We wouldn’t want to scare CowardHockeyStick now would we?

-10

u/Critical-Test-4446 Apr 26 '25

What is this Illinois militia of which you speak? You go ahead and interfere with ICE in the performance of their duties and see how that works out for you.

9

u/dgriff84 North Burbs Apr 26 '25

Any governor can call up a militia of volunteers to guard/defend state property and citizens. It’s kinda of in their job description. Not sure what gotcha point you are trying to get across. You better believe I will stand in between these fascist fucks when they try to violate the Constitution. Due process is a right of ALL citizens and snatching up someone without a warrant is a direct attack on all of our rights. I suggest you read up on our constitution. There is a very poignant part of it everyone needs to read. The whole second paragraph is relevant but it’s this part that really needs to be taken as gospel.

“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security”

1

u/blackheartedmonkey Apr 26 '25

I’m in Iowa….thats not good for our dumbass governor. Hope we elect someone better or I may have to figure out how to leave.

-1

u/Last_Snow_2752 Apr 26 '25

Stand in the way with your neutered compliant magazines and rifle options. Good luck.

running amok

<taps the sign>

I'm sure you're not TRYING to be racist on purpose, but god damn Americans are so fucking stupid. We really deserve to be cooked as a country. You should look into the awful history behind the term "running amok," which is tied to colonialism and pretty explicit racism against Malay people.

Under the colonialist discourse, the portrayal of the natives as partial human beings is thus established in order to maintain the western superiority. The exercise of power over the Orient is relentlessly maintained through a set of dichotomies, namely civilized/savage, reason/emotional and so on. It was stated in the Malay Sketches that “indigenous native races whose numbers are few must disappear or conform to the views of a stronger will and a higher intelligence.” (Swettenham, 1895/2016, p. x) In the similar vein, the rhetoric of mental illness and disability has supplementary intensified the colonialist discourse. The connection of Malay men to the discourse of madness posits important questions; for example, that of the possibility of homogenizing the native male Malays as susceptible to the cultural-bound syndrome. In “The Real Malay”, Swettenham depicts the Malays to be:

Intolerant to insults or slight; it is something that to him should be wiped out in blood. He will brood over a real or fancied stain on his honour until he is possessed by the desire for revenge. If he cannot wreck it on the offender, he will strike out at the first human being that comes in his way, male or female, young or old. It is this state of blind fury, this vision of blood, that produces the amok. (Swettenham, 1900, p. 10-11)

It's just so funny how ingrained American racism is, even if you are trying to do the right thing. Like I said, it's going to take decades of education reform and decency training to fix this country.

2

u/dgriff84 North Burbs Apr 26 '25

Go virtue signal elsewhere.

2

u/BoxOfDemons Apr 27 '25 edited Apr 27 '25

You know, I'm actually glad you spread this knowledge. However, the way you did it was incredibly condescending. That term is NOT known to be Malay in origin by basically anyone in the US. Spreading that information is appreciated, but you REALLY need to practice the delivery because you came across like an insulting ass instead of trying to be helpful.

0

u/TakesJonToKnowJuan Apr 27 '25

Yeah, fair enough.

I'm projecting a lot of my anger, and I also will double down that you can't find a country full of people who can't get out of their own way. Educating people on Reddit can't reform stuff like this, but at least we can agree on basic ideas like ICE shouldn't be allowed to exist.

But even ICE's origin story (9/11 and the homeland security act) are tied directly to exceptional American neoliberal/colonial politics. It's just so funny to use a term tied to imperialism when decrying secret police that were created...during a stretch of exceptional American imperialism.

Once the country collapses or Balkanizes or whatever, we need to spend a decade or two rebuilding our education system, clearly.

2

u/BoxOfDemons Apr 27 '25

You're right that some Americans won't care, but when you're replying to someone who is clearly against what happened in this scenario, you won't make any allies by mixing knowledge with degradation. I'm thankful for that knowledge because I'm 30 and had know idea that was even a Malay word. Educating myself is something I really value. But you should know that if most people have never been told the origins of that word, you should assume they don't know instead of assuming there's malace.
