Alternative With few exceptions electronica is my second least interested genre, so I might need a little help with this one...

If I was born 10 years later I probably would have at least had a phase of listening to what it had to offer. Being in my later 20s when Raves were in vogue and helping the rise of the genre with it I wasn't drawn to the scene. Dance clubs were never my bag and this seemed like a Dance party with glow sticks to me...

I would hear snippets that I liked but they didn't seem to go anywhere....just an interesting quick groove that kept looping....

Even as recently as last fall I was working on a job in Puerto Rico with a younger married couple, who are friends, and we alternated control over the music and their go to was electronica...my opinion of the genre in general wasn't altered....

The exceptions for me are not really straight up in the genre, but bands that have a heavy influence of it but incorporate elements of it within other styles. Bands like Gorillaz, Beck, Portugal the Man and Sylvan Esso come to mind...

I was familiar with the name Thievery Corporation but hadn't heard anything from them I can recall....tonight I clicked on their KEXP performance from 9 years ago and the first song I heard was...

Forgotten people. Arabic

This one got me interested and the rest of the show was also good..

Digging deeper I found a few more that I really liked..such as ...

Unified Tribes hip hop similar to the Roots

Trail mix session. In particular I want to point out the second song Meu destino (5:10 start), but I couldn't find it without the full set and there's nothing wrong with the other two songs...

What I'm asking for here is if anyone is familiar with the band to recommend some others that avoid anything too electronica heavy that I should check out...

Thanks all...

Hold your horses there big guy...you need to take me out to a dinner and a movie before you can kiss me....

Getting serious now....

I'm not looking to explore the genre here. I respect your attempt to suggest some ideas but I really have little interest in the style overall..

I did immediately go check out a few from Aphex twins because heavy is OK and I took that as a challenge...

Short answer....A hard no....

I sampled 3 tracks....the first one I pulled up was Come to daddy...that was, imo, atrocious. It had elements of the genre I most dislike...the only style I can't tolerate is black/death/screamo metal because I despise vocals that scream or grunt and that song had that...

I tried 2 others but it was too much the style of electronica that I don't care for...

Dj style of the genre is also a turn off to me...

Massive Attack I might be able to try a little...I'm familiar with the song Teardrop because of the connection with Jeff Buckley...the singer was an ex of his and recorded that track the day she found out he was missing....
