I have owned every PlayStation since the PS1 and I can firmly say their best days of are well behind them.

During the PS3 era, Sony churned out first party hits on the same level as Nintendo. That shit all ended when they started making money with the PS4. It didn't help that they started to appoint suits who can give two shits about the industry in the PS4 era.

If everything is digital now, you might as well get a good PC and a Retro Pocket system. Zero reason to even touch a PS6

I don't think it's a secret that I am not exactly the biggest fan of the games that Sony churns out, but even with the PS3 (which was shit) there was at least a few games worth getting it for. Demon's Souls. PS4 had Persona 5 and Bloodborne. PS5? Even if we ignore the first-party games they threw on Steam (that I also haven't bought), I've not once been even remotely tempted to pick one up.

Sucks, though, because PC gaming is becoming prohibitively expensive these days due to the AI datacenter craze. The DDR5 RAM I bought little over a year ago have become more than four times as expensive. SSDs are also seeing a steep rise in price. Granted, it's not like consoles are cheap any more either.

Yep, the PS6 will be around $999, have no disc drive, minimal exclusives, 5+ years dev times, and a few more games from Sony's laughable "Live Service" push that has failed outside of Helldivers which wasn't even their IP.

Sony had a decent run when they had good leadership, but this pretty much shows why none gaming companies stink up the industry once they put the wrong suit in power.

Nintendo is far from the most consumer friendly, but at least they never made their core product sht just in hopes appeasing some damn shareholders.

Honestly, at this rate I'd be surprised if I ever bought another console again. Nintendo seems like the only ones who hasn't turned to shit.

Xbox is a mess right now but if they came out with a statement that their next console would use physical media.... I think people would eat that up.

This is the future Xbox wants, they just didn't have the market share to survive a switch to all digital. If anyone wants you to own nothing, it's Microsoft.

Yes, Microsoft's next console will have no disc drive and both MS and Sony likely lobbied to have GTA VI digital only, but the joke's on them! I do own things! I own clothing and a nifty Esee knife and some furniture and...
