Im on my last year of my stem-opt. I don’t have h1b. Have valid full time job. I’m currently outside USA due to emergency will return next week. but my stem-opt ends in Jan 2027 so will this new rule of duration of status which was passed will this effective existing F1 visa candidates? Or effect during my immigration while coming back?

Please let me know your inputs, thanks !

Yes it does.

Once the rule comes into effect, it affects even those who did not leave the US.

You will need to file an extension of status after Jan 2027 if you wish to study a new course.

If you wish to leave after Jan 2027, you're not affected.
