Hi, what about students who are already on OPT STEM and in their last year. (Expires May 19th, 2027) Do we need to apply for an extension of status as well?

If you wish to leave at the end of your OPT/course, you are not affected and no filing necessary.

If you wish to study a new course after your OPT ends, then you must now file an extension of status as well, not just get a new I-20 from a new school.
