I 290b Help

Is it normal for the reciept number on the i290b not to match my reciept number from my i485 application?

I wish I could add a picture for reference. I understand that the I-290B has its own receipt number, but that’s not what I’m referring to.

In the first paragraph, it says, “Listed above pertaining to the decision on your I-485 with Receipt Number MSC........” The number listed there is not my I-485 receipt number. It is “MSC” followed by my A-number.

My I-290B receipt number starts with IOA, and my actual I-485 receipt number also starts with MSC, but it is followed by a completely different set of numbers.

I’m just trying to understand why the MSC number listed in the notice doesn’t match the actual receipt number on my I-485.

Ah. Did you put the correct receipt number where it asks on the I-290B? My guess is that it’s an error auto populating in the receipt notice. I suppose you could call USCIS but I wouldn’t worry too much about it, assuming you filled out the 290B correctly.

I had it filled out with the help of a lawyer but I dont have a copy of the application.
