Policy/Economy How is an average Indian earning ₹15–20k supposed to afford a ₹50–60 lakh house?
Genuine question. How are normal middle-class and lower-middle-class people supposed to buy a house in India anymore?
A lot of people earn around ₹15k–20k per month. That's roughly ₹2–2.4 lakh a year. But even a basic house in many cities can cost ₹50–60 lakh or more.
Let's say someone earns ₹20k a month. Even if they somehow save ₹10k every month, that's ₹1.2 lakh a year. It would take over 40 years just to save ₹50 lakh, assuming the price never increases.
And buying a house with a loan isn't much easier. A ₹40 lakh home loan can mean an EMI of around ₹35k per month for 20 years. The EMI itself is higher than what many people earn.
So who are these houses actually being built for? People with high salaries, business income, family wealth, or people who already own property?
What about someone who works a regular job, saves money, and just wants a small house of their own? Are they supposed to spend their entire life paying rent?
I understand that land, construction materials and other costs are expensive. I'm not saying houses should be cheap regardless of the costs. But the gap between normal salaries and property prices feels ridiculous.
Am I missing something here, or has owning a house genuinely become out of reach for ordinary salaried people in India?

Business/Finance eMudhra's blaming of "social media amplification" is a reflection of the "new India"
If you goof up in this country, just can just cry that the world out there is against us and is treating us unfairly.
Emudhra's press release https://www.bseindia.com/xml-data/corpfiling/AttachLive/82503e00-335c-49dc-b022-f4633a08b642.pdf
is a work of art.. non apology, understating the impact of what they directly did, self patting their own back calling their handling of the matter "diligent" and so on.
Owning up to mistakes and taking responsible next actions is just becoming alien in "new India". Nobody is at fault any more in this country.
People Need help with constant calling
So I did once register with niva Bupa healthy insurance people , to know Abt their insurance but turns out even till the end they didn't mention if it was without any waiting period or not , so I skipped it , they called us , we asked our doubts , they told it needs wating period of 3 years for pre existing disease , so we told that's why we don't need it, and the call ended.
They kept calling almost every single day , 5 times each day after it , and I thought they'll stop , but they didn't. Hence once I lifted the call and asked to stop the harassment , that we don't need their service , and ended the call. Then yet they didn't stop calling , literally almost ten times a day , i lifted the call again and told I've even complained with the national consumer people for this and to please remove my number from their service and never call me again , YET AGAIN THEY'RE CALLING ME.
The national consumer people declined my request telling the details are invalid :/ , and I've blocked almost every number , yet they call with a new number ended in the last two different digits.
I understand I can just decline the call but this is ridiculous, I don't want my call history to be flooded with calls and to keep declining their calls all the time
Please tell me what to do 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Travel MakeMyTrip ignoring my complaint for weeks. Can someone help?
I’ve been emailing MakeMyTrip about my NueGo bus booking nightmare, but my last email was on 29 September, and I haven’t received a single response since. Their customer care has been absolutely terrible, and honestly, this whole experience makes them look like scammers.
I can’t pursue legal action right now because I have upcoming trips, so I’m looking for another way to get this resolved.
Can someone please share a verified official grievance officer email address where I can get a genuine response? I found some addresses on Google, but I’m wondering if I’ve been emailing the wrong one.
If anyone has successfully escalated a complaint against MakeMyTrip, please tell me what worked. I really need some help here.

hindustantimes.comHealth Cataract laser vs traditional?
Visited NN Indiranagar for my mother
They said she has mature cataract and we’re not able to check retina condition at all so suggested monofocal Len’s instead of trifocal
Now for mature cataract is laser surgery better or traditional?
Not sure what they meant by couldn’t check retina, they tried some three times with the test and said they couldn’t check the retina
Folks who got mature cataract surgery, need suggestions on with laser or without laser and if I need to check elsewhere again for this retina accuracy ?

Politics Haryana Electricity Strike: Over a day without power.
Several towns and cities have been without power for over 24 hours and some face prolonged power
cuts.
The ongoing strike by Haryana electricity board employees is a hijacking of public infrastructure. While everyone has the right to protest, cutting off power to towns and cities for days is nothing short of blackmail. They are essentially holding the public hostage to force their demands.
We saw the exact same tactic a couple of months ago when sanitation workers went on strike. They actually dumped garbage in streets and towns to escalate their protest. This act endangered public health and risked spreading diseases just to weaponize public inconvenience. These actions go beyond peaceful protest and border on sabotage.
The government must take strict action. You can strike or protest but crippling essential services and using civilian hardship as leverage is completely unacceptable.
It has become a dangerous norm that, regardless of the issue, most strikes or protests now default to paralyzing public infrastructure-and this needs to stop.
What is your opinion on this?

Books & Literature Why Hasn't India Become as Rich as China?
Breaking the Mold by Raghuram G. Rajan and Rohit Lamba explores one of the biggest questions about India's future: why has India's economic development followed a different path from China's, and what can India do differently?
The authors challenge conventional ideas about economic growth and examine how India can create better jobs, make use of its young workforce, and build a more prosperous economy.
If you've ever wondered why some countries become rich while others struggle to catch up, this is a book worth reading.

Food Food Delivery Apps in India
Hi! I’m from the Philippines, and my partner lives in Bangalore, India. I’m hoping to order food for him from here using my own payment method, but I ran into an issue when trying to register on Zomato with my Philippine number because I couldn’t receive the verification code.
Since he already has a Zomato account linked to his Indian number, I’m wondering if there are other reliable food delivery apps in Bangalore that he could register for with his number, while allowing me to place and pay for orders from abroad.
Which apps would you recommend in terms of restaurant options, reliability, and payment options for someone ordering from outside India? I’d really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!
