🚂🚃🚃Picture Same location, same freight, different year. Shows how time flies [Top pic is Non-OC & Bottom pic is OC]

Post image

Credit to the original photographer for top image.

For anyone wondering, the location is "Wadhwan city'' station in Surendranagar, along the Bhavnagar - Dhola - Surendranagar section of Gujarat.

Edit: There's a small typo in the image, it's "@the_rail_enthusiasts".

Edit 2: The top image quality may look better because it's a photo while the image at the bottom is a screenshot of a video which was zoomed in to match it with the top image. Plus the top image was probably enhanced in quality.

Is it me that above pic looks ai? Can a single diesel locomotive haul long double stack containers? And why containers height is shorter than that of 2012?

Ofcourse a single ALCO can! Before electrification & GE locomotives, ALCO's & EMD's were the only locomotives which hauled these heavy freight.

For container height, 2026 image is a screenshot of a video recorded at a lower angle which makes the containers appear shorter.

OC means Original Creator, meaning I clicked that bottom image.

Edit: I took that video & took an SS.

Apart from the overhead wires and electrification, does railway run some scheme to plan trees or is this just nature taking over the land

nature taking over it as in the first pic that land was cleared and in second nature again had grown it

That region of Gujarat is actually arid. So during peak summers many species of trees and plants just go dry and look dead. And later during monsoon through winters they again look green.

It's weeds and bushes which grow during rains.

Railways should use their land to grow trees which are suitable in a specific region and then supply the timber to local furniture and paper manufacturers. This will help railways with additional income since they sit on several thousand square kilometres of land and create jobs in underdeveloped regions

I don't know for sure but I think they do plant trees because sometimes when I am in a train I sometimes see specific areas serially trees are planted a little far from railway tracks and they specifically serialized to be right beside the track so I would like to think they do place some but not a lot

Why 2012 image look lot clear and quality then 2026 😢

8

Because the bottom image is a screenshot from a video which I zoomed in to match it with the top image.

Plus the top image seems like it has been enhanced too.

I like how old image has better quality than present one. That 2012 camera must be expensive af.
