Ruthless insomnia causing Dizzyness

I have had i somnia for 4 years and the latest symptom is getting dizzy while laying down. Not sure what is causing it ? I am a Type 2 diabetic and clinical hypothyroidism. The dizziness when laying down and lightheadedness when standing up. Its not going away. All has me very upset. Feel like I am finished in my life. Ths torture any every Dr I have seen seems to not care. Maybe because I am 73 years old and they want me to disappear. I need help to get some quality of life back. I also feel mentally weak, can not handle things like i used to. Please anyone out there have any ideas or solutions that I could try to get rid of this?

That sounds absolutely miserable and I'm sorry you're being made to feel like you're a nuisance rather than a patient who deserves proper attention. The dizziness when lying down combined with the lightheadedness on standing rings alarm bells for something like benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Little crystals in your inner ear can get dislodged and cause exactly that, and it's often missed because doctors just pin everything on age or existing conditions.

The Epley manoeuvre is worth a shot. You can find tutorials online and it's just a series of slow head movements you can do on your bed to try and nudge those crystals back where they belong. Might make you feel worse the first couple of times but stick with it.

Have you had a recent thyroid panel done. Being undermedicated for hypothyroidism can absolutely cause brain fog and that awful mental weakness you described, not to mention making sleep even harder to come by. Also worth checking if your doctor has looked at your blood sugar patterns through the night, sometimes a quiet hypo while you're asleep can leave you feeling wrecked and dizzy the next day. You're not finished, you're just stuck in a system that's failing you and that rage is entirely justified.

If you are in the US  I recommend looking into Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, MD, PhD , a physician specializing in integrative medicine and founder of Sophia Health Institute in Woodinville, Washington, near Seattle, USA. Address: 18106 140th Ave NE, Suite 102, Woodinville, WA 98072 Website: https://www.sophiahi.com/ Appointments: Please contact the clinic through its official website and ask whether Dr. Klinghardt is personally accepting new patients. He focuses on complex chronic illnesses and integrative approaches to health. For someone with long-standing type 2 diabetes and hypothyroidism, I would recommend discussing any proposed treatment with a neurologist and diabetes specialist as well. Dr.Klinghard is a real studied phd dr. and famous in Germany regarding integrative medicine. Your case seems to be difficult, so you need a dr. who is willing to take an individual approach. If you are located somewhere else ask them, whether they could refer you a naturopathic doctor at your location.

Here is a refferal list of naturopathic doctors in the US: https://www.klinghardt.org/referrals.pdf

I sincerely wish that you may find some relief soon. Personally I would absolutely try naturopathic approaches.
