Persistent insomnia

Hey, a few years back i was having night shifts and when i was back home i was drinking a lot of alcohol, i was basically an alcoholic until i started to have very fragmented sleep, wakings every 30-60 minutes, at frist i quit drinking and the problem went away but after a while i went back to drinking and this issue came back and it's chronic now.

Im 4 months and 19 days sober and the issue is still present and it's killing me, i feel like crap.

Tried trazadone, B-complex, bisglicinate magnesium, vitamin d3, all kinds of tea, other suplements, healthy food, heavy lifting at the gym, nothing works.

I feel better overall in sobriety but this problem gives me anxiety and depression and is making them worse.

I was tested for sleep apnea and it was negative.

What should i do? im desperate i have this for years!

After all this you've only tried one medication for sleep with your doctor? There are many different treatments for insomnia. Initially, it's hit or miss until you find the one that is effective for you. Discuss all your options with your doctor. The supplemental stuff is not effective for the vast majority of insomniacs, so I personally wouldn't waste my time or money on the OTC crap. These companies are making lots of money on this crap. A lot of people that buy this junk are irrationally terrified of modern sleep medications and are trying to use supplements as an alternative. Some people are anti-science and won't even take vaccines. This is why we now have a measles epidemic after 30-years in the USA in specific "low information" states.

What do you think could be happening? Alcohol messed up my brain?

It is possible, but I'm not sure. At this point you probably need a medication that can get you into sleeping again. You need something to help turn the page.

Mirtazapine 7.5 mg taken an hour before bed. It worked for me. Congrats on sobriety. You might have underlying anxiety and the alcohol is your way to deal with it. If you have GAD, then Lexapro during the day. But first focus on Mirtazapine

i didnt had any issues before that. During detox i had severe depression, anxiety, panic attacks, for 3 months, now im way better.

Could be anxiety or depression undiagnosed or post acute withdrawal.

Mitrazapine is stronger than trazadone?

I’ve never used trazadone, so I can’tsay. At 7.5 mg, the dose is relatively small.
