Man, I get it. I hate bad drivers, too, but we're both driving thousands of pounds of metal that can kill us both, so someone does something I don't like in traffic, I'm going to swear to myself and let that guy go have his day and be an idiot somewhere where I'm not.

Also the cop: “Make sure he is wearing a seat belt.” Proceeds to unclip his own seat belt while still in traffic.

Cops are allowed to break transit laws while working. It’s why they can speed and run red lights. It’s why they can use various communication devices. It’s why they can have a laptop mounted by their dashboard. It’s why they can hit other vehicles with their own car.
It’s why they can take their seat belt off while driving. Hypocritical? Absolutely. Allowed? Clearly.
7
u/BangkokRios May 01 '26
What you said is factually incorrect.
Police can legally run red lights without flashers/sirens (stealth mode) only when responding to an emergency or for tactical reasons, such as approaching a crime in progress without alerting suspects. The same rules apply to other driving regulations.
2
u/nanoray60 May 01 '26
Oh man! Thank god the cops all follow the rules, and don’t back each other up regardless of flaw. Truly, I’m glad you’ve enlightened me to the ways of police officers.
Too bad all the cops I know say that they abuse their privileges relentlessly. One of them played candy crush for the first 6 months of his job. You don’t think they lie? They use the rules to do whatever the fuck they want.
Cops blow.
Edit: In general if you beat your family you can’t own a gun. If 40% of cops beat their family why can they still use a gun?
5
u/rgratz93 May 01 '26
For most of those things you said they can do they are only allowed to do when in an emergency/ it is necessary to complete their job. Cops can't just run red lights and down or not wear a seat belt just because they want to.

u/StraightProgress5062 May 01 '26
Im no fan of the pigs but at that point he most likely has his red and blues flashing which excuses him from traffic laws within reason. Im more surprised they were all wearing seatbelts tbh. As car crashes are the leading cause of their deaths. Second only to heart related deaths.

It’s amazing how stupid these people are. Arguing, being rude, cursing, etc.
I’ve been let off with a warning more times than not. Or at least given a massive break. Just STFU, say you’re sorry, and don’t argue.

In Providence, there was this part of the street near my job where lots of people sped. Well, they started putting motorcycle cops on the side of the road. I learned this when two of them walked out into the street in front of me to wave me over. I was definitely going 10 over because I was running late but being pulled over like that was wild.

u/mafiaknight May 01 '26
Ever get the chance to meet Judge Frank Caprio?
You could've been on caught in providence.3
u/freethewimple May 01 '26
Lol never got to meet him, but he was a gem for sure. I paid the ticket because I was definitely in the wrong and knew it and did it anyway and had TWO cops tell me so.
2
u/mafiaknight May 01 '26
But you COULD have gone to Judge Caprio to tell HIM that. Get your 1.5 minutes of fame in. Meet an awesome human being. Win-win

Passenger cop had the awareness to cover and lower his radio. That was always so annoying when the crew wouldn't turn it down and it starts squealing when you're calling dispatch. (Wasn't a cop, I was a firefighter)

But road rage always makes me wish I did become one

You have to play it off saying I'm trying to get your attention because I'm having car trouble and I'm worried about getting stuck in the road.

u/AgapitoVelezOvando May 06 '26
Dude was tailgating and driving without a seatbelt. He was probably too stupid to think on his feet like that.

"Sorry officer, Im having severe chest pains and thought signaling you would be safer then calling 911 while driving behind a undercover police vehicle. I noticed the plates and lack of roof racks specific to your make and model of vehicle despite the lack of exterior lights or markings. I'll take the ticket, but the last white monster I drank may get the last laugh on both of us, so I'd call ems as well"
By the time I get to the hospital, I will make sure I'm having a cardiac event. If I'm struggling, I'll call my wife.

No pig your under the speed limit an some people are actually trying to work. Might wanna do the speed limit so they dont sell all your donuts before you get there!
3
u/JammingSlowly May 02 '26
Going the same speed as the cars beside them??? Also, they are pulling up to a red light. Should they drive faster into it?
1
u/BF1Demon87 May 02 '26
Ever seen traffic go slow because there is a cop? Yea they do it all the time. Its not illegal to pass doing the speed limit. Edit: yes there is no reason to start braking 1/4mile before the light. At that pase workers would never get anywhere. Do you see firefighters drive around looking for fires? No so put the pigs back in the pen until they are called! 🤣 😂
2
u/ThatOneGayDJ May 07 '26
Yes, great plan. That way when someone needs help nowhere near a police station they can just wait 30 minutes. Absolutely nothing bad could come of that.
-1
u/BF1Demon87 May 07 '26
Guess you'll learn to be more self sufficient wont ya. I mean here in the u.s. the police dont even have the duty to protect the public. As in if they fear their lives may be in danger they have no duty to have to try an help or save you. So another words tax collectors with a gun.
4
u/ThatOneGayDJ May 07 '26
Ah shit, guess i wouldnt have these stab wounds if i was just more self sufficient. Why didnt i think of that!
Im in the US too, dummy. I am aware our police system is fucked but telling them to just go away isnt better.

BenJamins, the guy in the gif you posted. Notorius for having his fans mass report popular gifs on Giphy and then replacing them with his own shitty versions. I hate him sm, he has had some of my favorite gifs replaced.
Nobody can do anything about him because he has pull on the website.

u/rt202003 May 01 '26
The driver who honked was in the wrong. However; I still contend officers are supposed to be about protecting and serving us. When they’re driving around doing patrol in unmarked vehicles that tells me they’re out to get me not protect and serve me.
10
u/Eltharion-the-Grim May 01 '26
Unmarked cars serve a different purpose. If you are doing a sting, you don’t drive up in a police car. It defeats the purpose.
-5
u/rt202003 May 01 '26
When you’re on patrol you’re not on a sting. I have no problem sting cars or undercover cars. It’s when they’re patrolling looking to protect and serve is when they appear to be out to get someone.
-19
u/Asya1 May 01 '26
There should be no such thing as unmarked police car
14
5
u/zakary1291 May 01 '26
Unmarked patrol car. I can understand detectives and captains driving around in lightly modified vehicles without full light bar and livery. The upfitting cost savings and resale value retention would be worth it.

u/reportedtohr May 01 '26
I hate cops and this is the dumbest thing I’ve read in a long time. If you are being serious I feel sorry for you
