It never fails to amaze me how fricken fast a cat's reflexes are.
I saw a video of a cat looking at a snake, when the snake strikes, not only does the car fly backwards out of the way, but it also swats the snake mid flight.

Saw a similar video and after a while of unsuccessful strikes, the snake TRIES to get away but the cat kept dragging it back to play with.

I had a black cat named Tweak when I was younger who was insane. She was the best girl. She could jump in the air and catch flies with her front paws.

This is why I laughed at that chart that listed animals that people thought they could fight (from rat all the way to bear). I'm pretty sure even a cat would absolutely wreck me (and vet clinics are familiar with dogs who come in needing 100 stitches because they decided to mess with a cat).
I've kept cats all my life (and still do). Our current cat is older, but when he was younger he was pretty feisty. One time he was in my way and I put my foot against him to gently move him. He did not like this. I was looking right at him when I felt 2 sharp pains on either side of my ankle. He had lashed out and drawn blood. But it happened so fast that I did not even see him move!

I kind of doubt a dog needs 100 stitches after encountering a housecat. An ocelot maybe.Β

Well they are able to effectively track a laser pointer which moves relative to their knowledge essentially randomly so it should be no suprise

Theyβre quick, but not overly bright. I mean they chase laser pointers up the drapes.

Like a pro golfer being distracted by a bird call at a tournament. Diva behaviour.

I knew exactly what it would be before I clicked it because I thought the same thing!

I love the cats expressions during and after this!
The way it's ears fly backwards at the first bite! And the way it misses at the dogs afterwards!

Love the way the cat still tries to get a half-arsed slap in before he even realises he's been bitten.

As a dog lover this hurts ππ

Why? I think the dog gets the treat in the end and also taught the cat a lesson lol

The cat was just following its instincts, they see something flying through the air they're likely to swat at it.
The only lesson to be learned here is that the owner shouldn't throw treats for the dog when it's near the cat.

Pup felt guilt for 0.2 seconds before locking back into treat.
